Chef Carlo

By | Foodie, For kids | 3 Comments

Heart2Heart is amazed at how kids nowadays are so ambitious and at a young age know exactly what they want to be in terms of their future career.  We recently met one of our son’s bestfriends, Carlo.  We were talking and talking about school and other things and then he mentioned that he wanted to be a chef!  I got excited!! 🙂  Carlo told us that he has been taking culinary classes and he is now preparing himself and making sure he meets the requirements so that he can enter the Culinary Institute of America ( CIA ). He is making sure he gets the experience he needs as well.  We were very impressed!! Carlo is only 14 years old and maybe that ambition may change…but the fact that he is forward thinking, shows he is responsible and determined to get somewhere… someday.  Good luck Carlo!!

Carlo even sent us his favorite dish which was creme bruleé.  To earn extra money, he sells his concoctions to friends and family.

He even came over the house with his torch so he could finish it off

Bravo

By | Foodie | No Comments

I remember when Bravo first opened in Alabang and we went all the way there to try it!  It was one of the first restaurants in the country to serve SUPER THIN YUMMY PIZZA!  James and I were able to try their Makati branch and we were very happy with our dinner.

While waiting for the food to arrive, of course they served us their popular dip and crostini

dsc_2339.JPG

We asked the waitress what their popular pizza was and that was what we ordered- Pizza Bravo and Saigon was another popular one.  So we ordered both in the smallest size so we could try it- they were sort of similar but both very good.  THIN IS DEFINITELY IN!

I wanted to order everything QUATTRO FORMAGGIO!   They had it in pizza, in lasagna and in risotto!!  So among the Quattro formaggi dishes, I chose the risotto.  YUUUMMMMY!!!

Tagliata di Manzo Bravo – also very very good!

Establishment

By | Foodie | One Comment

I was able to take a peek at The Establishment. The place has 3 different dining areas – one for cocktail which I was able to try and two other dining areas for dinner with different menus.  I hope to get to try the others next time.  It’s a beautiful place.

Owner partners – Verns Buckley-Chiongbian, former Ford Super Model, I figured she was an actress or a model because I thought she was really pretty and Dr. Boy Vasquez, an OB Gynecologist and now a restauranteur 🙂

We wanted to take out our foreign visitor, Arno, so we of course chose Filipino food!  Only to find out he is married to a Filipina 🙂 But we all still enjoyed our lunch and most especially the company.  Arno is a nice and funny guy

THE COUNTER Custom Built Burgers

By | Foodie, Travel | 5 Comments

We met up with our cousins who were in LA, Jaime and Marie.

dsc_9355jpg.jpegdsc_9352jpg.jpeg

Marie chose the place and wow! What a concept!!!counterconcept.jpg

dsc_9335.JPGdsc_9336.JPGdsc_9357.JPGdsc_9337.JPGdsc_9338.JPGdsc_9340.JPG

Whenever I go to the States, I go crazy!  They give you so many CHOICES!  There are just so many choices – so many decisions to make- sometimes we just laugh 🙂  because we actually cannot decide.  Unlike choosing from a menu that already puts the combinations together.  But then again…choices can be good if you really just want to make your own dish!decisionsdecisionscounter.jpgcomplete_menucounter.gifdsc_9344.JPG

  dsc_9346.JPGdsc_9365.jpg

This was actually my favorite dish!  🙂

Sweet Potato Fries, Onion strings and Fries!!! YUUUUUMMMMY!!! with the dips!!!! They are perfect alone and especially with the burgers!

dsc_9358.JPGdsc_9361.JPGdsc_9364.JPG

My burger was very simple

dsc_9368.JPG

then I saw the website and maybe should have ordered this 🙂

 counterburger.jpg

Our two HEALTHY cousins got veggie burgers!

dsc_9369.JPGdsc_9371.JPG

and James got the unhealthiest one with the works!  🙂

dsc_9373.JPG

You can also order burger salads which they call “Burger in a bowl”….. hmm….
