Jasmine

Jasmine at the Renaissance Hotel was recommended to us so we went to try it.  It was not as we expected…but it was okay….maybe we expected too much? did not order the right dishes?Though,  I like the interiors of the restaurant.

Hexagon Lounge, RCBC Plaza

By | Foodie | 4 Comments

My good friend, Michele, took me this time to her territory!  She told me she wanted me to try her FAVORITE TAPA!  I am always happy to be with Michele, she makes me laugh and laugh.  She is so simple, so down to earth, so good, so sweet.  I love her!

dsc_5895.JPG

She told me she only wears stiletos when she is going out with me..funny girl!! 🙂

stiletos.jpg

She took me to the Hexagon lounge which is a more private dining place in the building

dasc_5899jpg.jpeg

Michele intorduced me to Michele ( another Michele ) who runs the place with her husband

dsc_5849.JPG

Wow!! So much to choose from! I told the two Michele’s to just take care of ordering since everything looked good and I wanted to order everything!  🙂 So I told them to just choose….I do not know if that was a good idea because you will see what they served us….and you will be surprised, we almost finished all of it 🙂

I did not only fall in love with the beef tapa, but this Buffalo chicken wings I really really loved!!!  I loved the blue cheese dip which they make themselves also. YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!

Fettucine Seafood Portofino

dsc_5878.JPG

Here is the USDA Certified Beef Belly Tapa!!! I featured this already.  You can eat it here or you can order it and cook it at home!!!  I definitely liked Michele’s favorite tapa!

dsc_5881.JPG

The two Micheles told me to eat it with vinegar, tabasco and knorr!  Since I am not the sauce type, i like to eat my tapa on its own and I like to taste the beef on its own.  But in case, you might want to try it!!

dsc_5891.JPG

Grilled Three Cheese Sandwich!!!!!! OH MY GOSH!!! I just had to order this and YUMMY!!!!!! Look at the cheese oozing out 🙂

dsc_5883.JPG

Chicken Fingers and Bacon Melt Sandwich – also YUMMY!!!!

Restaurant 101 + ADF

By | Foodie, Workshops, Yummy! | 2 Comments

Eds and I  were very lucky to be one of the first ones to try the new restaurant of Enderun.  They will have a soft opening today, September 23 and will be open to the public.  As you read, you will see that it was not only the food we experienced but you will meet some of the people behind this great school. As we meet all of them, we learn more about the school, the passion behind it and the vision which makes it so successful.  It was a very interesting lunch and we really enjoyed ourselves.  After all, not everything is about the food and not everything is about making money.  When you eat in Restaurant 101, you not only enjoy the delicious food, but you support the students who come to learn and train there.

resto101byadfenderunabout.jpgdsc_7757.JPG

We were greeted by Don, our server, who took care of us for our lunch

dsc_7767.JPG

The interiors of the place was not yet fully finished, so this is just a peek at what it will look like

dsc_7766.JPG

Meet Alex Jureeratana, Executive Director of Food and Beverage.  He is Thai and started in the first part of this year.  Alex was the one who opened the two Joel Robuchon restaurants in Las Vegas.  He has a wide experience in the hospitality industry and still has a lot of offers from other establishments, but he told me when he had the opportunity to work in Enderun, he took it  because he believed in the vision of the school.  He was also amazed that Alain Ducase, one of the top Chefs in the world, has tied up with Enderun.  He says that it is very hard to talk to Alain Ducase due to his busy schedule and he does not talk to just anyone.  Alex also said that he liked the job because it was a way of giving back.  He feels that through the school, he is able to pass on his learnings and help other students.  What other motivation can be greater than that?

dsc_7769.JPG

This is one of the details Alex explained to us.  He had these linens specially made and embroidered.  It is one of the techniques in teaching the students how to put the linen properly on the table.   The embroidery has to be in line with each other

dsc_7807.jpg

You can see the kitchen from the dining area, so you will see all the students working inside

dsc_7760.JPGdsc_7764.JPG

Our friend and schoolmate in highschool, Tricia Castañeda-Tensuan. She is employee #1.  As soon as her boss, Jack Tuason, asked her to join him in the new project, she accepted and was hired immediately!  She was working with Discovery Suites prior to Enderun.  We are so proud of you Tricia! More power!

dsc_7773.JPG

Our menu for that day.  They had a set lunch for us.  But once the restaurant opens they will have an ala carte menu.  Eds and I really enjoyed the food!  We got one of each to share so we could try all.

dsc_7774.JPG

Oops! It’s Chef Thomas again!  I always bump into him in Enderun!   I hope I get to try his cooking one of these days.  A very charming, handsome and kind husband according to his wife and our friend, Rachelle 🙂

Cos Lettuce Hearts Mimosa with Ceasar Dressing Chopped Eggs and Bacon Crisps

What an interesting dish!  Sort of like a different version of Ceasar salad

dsc_7776.JPG

Alex grabbed the plate and started cutting away and prepared it for us

YUMMY!!!

Chad Davis, F & B Faculty, who I saw in Restaurant 101 ( Restaurant 101 August 7, 2007) in Ortigas two years ago.  One of the pioneers of Enderun.

dsc_7794.JPGdsc_7800.JPG

We were so happy to see our friend  Zette ( Farewell Dinner by Zette for Fran June 4, 2009 ) ( La Cocina de Tia Moning March 5, 2007 ) there!!!! She was rushing to get to class!!  Zette teaches Culinary Arts 101 and she told us she teaches that class 3 times a day.  I would think so because a 101 course normally is a requirement for everyone so you can imagine how important that class is 🙂

dsc_7797.JPG

Chef See of course was there!   Whenever I think of Enderun, I think of Tricia and Chef See 🙂

I am so happy to see Chef See looking very satisfied and it looks like he has finally found his calling in Enderun.  He has a lot of talent and learnings to share with the school and with the students.

YUMMY! YUMMY! and YUMMY!

Javy Infante, President of Enderun

What a pleasure to meet the brains behind the school!   Javy is one of the founders of the school and Eds told me that this guy is a GENIUS!  And believe me, she does not have to convince me!

The school started a few years back at the Ortigas campus extension with 150 students and now they have 600 plus students and by next year they will have almost a thousand students! What more can I say?

dsc_7814.JPGdsc_7817.JPG

We were suppose to have Roasted Pineapple, Lime Jelly with Coconut Sorbet, but they served us this instead

Louis XV in Monaco

According to Tricia, this is the actual dessert they serve in that restaurant, Louis XV in Monaco in Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo and it is really delicious!!!

dsc_7813.JPG

Heart2Heart is so priveledged to always be part of Enderun.   Everyone in the school is so warm and accomodating, I feel so much a part of them.  Thank you for always inviting and sharing with Heart2Heart!

Thank you Rommel and Cat for inviting Heart2Heart to your new restaurant, Jalapeño

dsc_8205.JPG

It was my first time to go to FOOD STREET in Ortigas near Home Depot.  It is a street with mostly bars so it is really a night time hang out

Rommel told me to bring my friends so we can all share the food and try more dishes, so I called on my fondue group! Lils, Jeanne, Lau and Eds

adsc_8240.JPG

We all enjoyed!!! The food was really good!! And Rommel and Cat were right, when you taste their food, you will want to come back.  True enough, I received texts from all of them – Jeanne and Raul came back for lunch the next day, Lils brought her church group for Sunday after church and Ron and Lau went somewhere nearer them that evening to have Mexican!  FUNNY! And I was craving for the same dishes but just did not have time to go all the way back there…SO OPEN IN MAKATI PLEASE! 🙂

We shared all the dishes that came out!

Dining in CWC

By | Foodie, Travel | No Comments

In CWC, they have an open door dining area or you can eat in the tents facing the wakeboard park

dsc_6692.JPGdsc_6693.JPGdsc_6697.JPG

They had this table with some quick snacks – i noticed they did not have this on the Monday that we were there- maybe they set this up during weekends or when there are a lot of people.  Quick orders rather than ordering from the menu and waiting

dsc_6732.JPGdsc_6791.JPG

And they have the full menu.  Food is very decent and quite good

dsc_6922.JPGdsc_6923.JPGdsc_6924.JPGdsc_6925.JPGdsc_6930.JPGdsc_6931.JPGdsc_6960.JPGdsc_6792.JPGdsc_6807.JPGdsc_6962.JPGdsc_6969.JPGdsc_6804.JPGdsc_6805.JPGdsc_6806.JPGdsc_6985.JPGdsc_6987.JPGdsc_6998.JPGdsc_6963.JPG

Another place to eat in the complex is in the Mansion Suites.  We went there for breakfast

Chef Doy’s and Grissini

By | Foodie, Travel | 2 Comments

This is where we did not eat in Naga!  🙁  We wanted to have our first meal here but for some reason they had no electricity.  We tried again for lunch the next day but still no electricity.  Dexter and many others recommended this place since they say it is owned by a former Mandarin Hotel Chef and I think also the chef from Avenue Plaza Hotel.

It is just one block down from Avenue Hotel.  Mom and I were so frustrated we did not eat here.  I heard that the Italian restaurant beside it is also good, Grissini.
