Inagiku

By | Foodie | 4 Comments

The Japanese food loving family had another Japanese meal….Quito chose Inagiku to celebrate his special day….My brother really knows how to choose!

When we had our dinner here, we realized that we always take for granted what we have in our country….we can get very good Japanese food right here.  The quality and presentation is excellent!

quitos-birthday1.jpgquitos-birthday2.jpg

One of the reasons it is authentic Japanese is because they have a resident Japanese manager, Mr. Yoshio Ishikawa, who oversees the place

Wow! Look at how nice these miniature crabs look!

dsc_0476.JPG

Mr. Ishikawa gave this to us – we thought it was for decoration in the table but he told us to eat it- it tasted good actually….sort of like popcorn

I am not a sashimi person but everyone else ordered these assorted sashimi and  Aburi sashimi

dsc_0512.JPGdsc_0494.JPGdsc_0492.JPG

This was my order, tempura maki!  WOW!  I have never seen tempura maki served this way! This is the ULTIMATE TEMPURA MAKI!  🙂  It has something even under it like an egg like thing with a sweet sauce- YUMMY!!

Close up!! Look at the different colors of fish roe on top!

Foie Gras Teppanyaki – this is half an order since I split mine with my son, Javier.  I was eating a lot of this when he was in my stomach so it might explain why he loves it too 🙂

Mr. Ishikawa serving the grilled fish! He deboned it and served it

Meat and Wine Company

After all the eating we did in Sydney, I realized we did not have LAMB CHOPS!! My favorite!!  Australia is supposed to be known for steaks too!!! So I desperately asked Geraldine if she knew any place and Francis recommended this place!!  We all loved it!! Thanks Francis!!!!

It is a restaurant chain with branches in other countries.   It is beside the I Max theater and by Cockle Bay Wharf.

dsc_9373.JPG

The steak was really good and I finally had my lamb chops!! We also had the best calamari ( which we always order in almost every restaurant ) here.  It was very fresh and very tender! Take note also of the onion rings which come with the steak… YUMMY! 🙂

Doyles

By | Foodie, Travel | One Comment

As suggested by Mayette and Francis, we ate in Doyles at the Sydney Fish Market.  It was a Sunday so there were a lot of people at the market.

My personal favorite was the fish and chips!  Fish and Chips is good all over Sydney!   What Mom could not understand was why they did not serve malt vinegar with the fish and chips…..hmmm… so she bought her own bottle at the supermarket and she brings it with her wherever we go!  in case we see any fish and chips around 🙂

Icebergs

By | Foodie, Travel | One Comment

There is a restaurant in Bondi Beach which has the BEST view among all restaurants and it was one of my favorites in the whole trip.  Icebergs!  Recommended by mostly everyone we askeddsc_8891.JPGdsc_8936.jpgdsc_9042.JPG  dsc_8937.JPGdsc_8959.JPGdsc_8941.JPGdsc_8943.JPGdsc_8944.JPGdsc_8945.JPGdsc_8946.JPG

This was our waiter, doesn’t he remind you of Ricky Gervais?

Bondi Beach

By | Foodie, Travel | One Comment

Bondi Beach was perfect when we went there!  We had the beach almost all to ourselves! But of course we did not swim!  🙂   There were a few guys surfing but in the beach, hardly anyone.  It just turned winter so it is a bit cold already with some sun shining.  But personally, this is exactly how I like it

dsc_8893.JPGdsc_9108.JPGdsc_9105.JPGdsc_8933.JPGdsc_8935.JPGdsc_9027.JPGdsc_9053.JPGdsc_9061.JPG

This is the street behind the beach where you will find many restaurants and a few shops… I looked more at the restaurants 🙂  There are many to choose from when you are here

dsc_9066.JPGdsc_9067.JPGdsc_9070.JPGdsc_9071.JPGdsc_9073.JPGdsc_9075.JPG

Movenpick YUM YUM!! We stopped by here to get ice cream! My favorite as usual is the White chocolate- it had white chocolate shavings in the ice cream.  Yummy!!

Soban

I met up with a highschool friend who I have not seen in a long long time, Geraldine!  Geraldine migrated to Australia 6 months ago with her husband and three kids. She was planning to come over to the city, but I told her I wanted to see where she lived, so I invited myself over to her side of town 🙂

She insisted that she picked me up and so we took the train for around 30 minutes.  She took me to a new restaurant that just opened in the mall near her place.   Thanks Geraldine for a great lunch and most especially it was so nice to see you!!!  You are as beautiful as you were in highschool … and now without the glasses 🙂

dsc_9130.JPGdsc_9129.JPGdsc_9155.jpgdsc_9154.JPGdsc_9153.JPGdsc_9133.JPG

The menu was not the usual korean menu with so many many items in the list.  It was a simple menu and we noticed that the bibimbap section was the one with the most choice so we decided to order that. Bibimbap is the Korean’s version of fried rice

dsc_9135.JPGdsc_9137.JPG

This was their water pitcher which they place on the table – I like it because 99% of the time I just drink water, so I like it that they take serving water seriously 🙂

Geraldine had the Bibimbap with fish roe

dsc_9142.JPGdsc_9144.JPGdsc_9146.JPG

I had the one with beef

dsc_9139.JPGdsc_9141.JPG

The waiter came over to help us mix it- we were not mixing it 🙂  It was very good, we enjoyed!

Steersons

By | Foodie, Travel | 2 Comments

Of course when in Australia, we have to eat steak!  We went to Steersons by the Harbour.

I noticed that in most restaurants in Sydney, you need to put your own salt and pepper on the dishes or else there won’t be any taste.  So make sure to have a taste first and then add your own seasonings to your liking.

dsc_8162.JPGdsc_8167.jpgdsc_8168.JPGdsc_8171.JPGdsc_8172.JPGdsc_8179.JPGdsc_8180.JPGdsc_8186.JPGdsc_8187.JPGdsc_8197.JPGdsc_8198.JPG

Blue Cheese souffle with Pancetta with Caramelized Pears and Rocket – YUMMY! obviously it is heart2heart’s dish

dsc_8200.JPG

I noticed that Rocket and Parmesan is a popular side dish in Australia – I see it in almost all menus

Azuma Japanese Restaurant

By | Foodie, Travel | No Comments

Just to show you how much the family loves Japanese food, we actually ate Japanese food in Sydney!  We asked the concierge to recommend one and he brought us here.

I got mad at my family for always wanting to eat Asian food in Australia!  🙂 We had Chinese, Thai and now Japanese.  Well, I can’t complain because we enjoyed all!

Longrain

By | Foodie, Travel | No Comments

Another popular recommendation from friends and family.   Thai fusion!  I love fusion everything because I always want to try something different and something someone created something out of the ordinary.   I wanted to label the dishes but when I went to their website, the menu has changed already from the time we were there and as I read the latest menu…. I WANT TO GO BACK ALREADY!!  So I will just give my generic description as I remember them which will actually not do justice to what they were called or what they were….all in all it was a great meal
