C Italian Deli and Wine Shop

By | Foodie, Travel | 8 Comments

On the way back to Manila from Subic, we passed by Clark to eat in this restaurant that everyone is talking about!   Thanks Tito Ralph and Tita Babot for the surprise lunch treat !!!dsc_4865.JPGc-italiancover.jpg

Good thing the owner, Chris Locker, was there to take care of us …. by strict instruction of Tito Ralph 🙂

dsc_4928.jpg

Chris told me that when he first opened 5 years ago, he had 24 seats and 8 employees.  Now he has 190 seats and 45 employees! Wow!  More power to you Chris and I hope you open in Makati!! 🙂

c-italian-4.jpgc-italian-5.jpgc-italian-7.jpgc-italian-8.jpgc-italian-9.jpgc-italian-10.jpgc-italian-11.jpgdsc_4915.JPG

They have an outdoor area for private functions/parties or for night time seating when it is a bit cooler

c-italian-12.jpg

This is where the famous panizza is made

c-italian-13.jpgc-italian-14.jpgc-italian-15.jpg

There is another dining area in front of the restaurant

c-italian-16.jpgc-italian-17.jpgc-italian-18.jpgc-italian-19.jpgc-italian-20.jpgc-italian-21.jpg

This is what people from all over come all the way here for!  I LOVE IT TOO!!! I like the way he called them in his menu – It would be nice names if you were looking for baby names 🙂 Chris told me that it was he and his girlfriend ( now his wife )  who discovered this panizza.  My Dad was trying to fish as to what Chris puts in his panizza that makes it very good…. all he said was it was made with five cheeses!  Wow! No wonder it is so good and I like it so much!

c-italian-22.jpgc-italian-23.jpgc-italian-24.jpgc-italian-25.jpgc-italian-26.jpgdsc_4888.JPG

Chris also makes other great Italian food!

Legaspi Sunday Market

By | Foodie | 2 Comments

I went with my Mom two weeks ago to the Legaspi Sunday market.  It was our first time. They had a mixture of food and non food booths.  We came at around 8:30 am and many were just setting up.

Here are some of the things we saw

Ateneo Reunion

By | Celebrations, Foodie | One Comment

This is a long overdue post.  Last year we had an Ateneo College group reunion since Joanne was in town.  We took advantage to get together.  We were not complete, we missed Bubu and Raoul. We just celebrated at home with homemade food, thanks to Suzette for bringing the wine and homemade desserts.

Toki

By | Foodie | 4 Comments

Another birthday gift from our good friends Gary and Alexie.  They treated us to dinner for our birthdays.  I remember very well when Alexie gave me a spa treatment for a gift and we had it together.  It was nice since we get to spend time together.

My Mom told me about Toki since she mentioned a Japanese friend wanted to take her there.  As soon as I heard that, I immediately assumed that the place must be good.  So when Alexie asked me where to go, I suggested Toki. We like it very much.  After our dinner, we have been back 3 times, My Mom and Dad has been back 2 times. It is just across Aubergine.

toki-1.jpgtoki-3.jpg

They have a Japanese Chef who sort of reminds me of Luis “Lucky” Manzano 🙂 Young, very nice, soft spoken and obviously very talented

toki-4.jpgtoki-5.jpgtoki-6.jpgtoki-7.jpgtoki-8.jpgtoki-9.jpgdsc_6699.JPGdsc_6700.JPGdsc_6704.JPG

They have 2 private rooms for teppanyaki

Their specialty is Wagyu

Pork is the “in” thing now!  The waitress recommended this and it was very very tender and very good.  Sparerib No Kakuni!!

toki-16.jpgdsc_5460.JPGdsc_5461.JPGdsc_5462.JPGtoki-18.jpgdsc_5463.JPGdsc_5466.JPG

They have a different menu for lunch and they only serve these.  I want to try the Wagyu Curry next time 🙂

Sushi Kappo Kobikicho

By | Foodie | 8 Comments

My friend, Margie, treated me out for lunch as her birthday gift to me.  I like her birthday gift because atleast I get to spend time with her and enjoy her company.  Thanks dear Margie!!!

She shared with me one of her favorite restaurants which I have been hearing from my friends.  So finally I get to try it. Margie says she likes it here because it is not noisy, she can eat properly without much distraction and of course the food is very good.

sushikappokobikicho-1.jpgsushikappokobikicho-3.jpg

It is not the usual japanese restaurant.  Instead of having one main dining area, it has rooms which can accomodate small groups.  All the clients during lunch were Japanese, we were the only Filipinos.  So this place must be really good and serves authentic japanese food if the Japanese go here!

kobikichorooms.jpgsushikappokobikicho-4.jpg

We stayed in the Main sushi counter

sushikappokobikicho-5.jpg

Shintaro and his brother who both work here

sushikappokobikicho-17.jpgkobiki-cho01.jpg

Sushi knives!! One knife costs around P 500,000.00 and above- wow!

sushikappokobikicho-6.jpg

Shintaro so proud to show me toro ( Blue fin tuna belly ).  My husband loves toro so I showed him the photo when I got home 🙂  I am not really a sushi or sashimi eater so we were just watching Shintaro make the sushi. And as always, everything to the Japanese is an ART!  They take everything seriously and do everything with passion and everything is thought out so well

Freshly made wasabi

sushikappokobikicho-10.jpgsushikappokobikicho-11.jpg

This was our lunch – the Daily Lunch Special – YUMMY!  We had appetizer, soup, gindara, chicken and dessert

I seem to notice that whenever we eat Japanese food, the feeling is never heavy.  They say that when you feel light and not like you regret eating something, that the food is healthy….

sushikappokobikicho-14.jpgsushikappokobikicho-13.jpg

P 100.00 toothpick! I had to use one just to try it and see how it feels 🙂

sushikappokobikicho-15.jpg

Sesame ice cream which came with the lunch meal

sushikappokobikicho-16.jpg

Thanks Margie!!  Just to prove how funny and hilarious she is…she was asking me if she should go to the gym after lunch….. and she tells me, “Sayang naman ang kinain ko kung pupunta ako sa gym!”  Normally it would be the other way around! 🙂
