Arirang Korean Restaurant

By | Foodie, Travel | No Comments

Arirang was one of our family’s favorites in HK when we were kids and used to stay often in kowloon side.   We have not been there in a long long time so since this time it was near where we stayed, I suggested we eat there….. and Ned and Janet offered to treat…so I did not object!  🙂  Thanks Ned and Janet for a great meal!!!

We just ordered the basics

Gahlbi – Marinated Prime US beef short ribs

Hyu Gooi – Tongue

Boolgogi -Marinated sliced beef

Funny guy Ned put his teacup on top of the beef while cooking….hmmm… he said they really do that to cook the beef 🙂  I just had to take a photo of it because it was the first time I saw such a way of cooking arirangkorean11.jpg

Yummy ube/taro ice cream!! It comes with the BBQ dishes already

Prince Restaurant

We went to Hong Kong on a business trip and of course set aside important time to dine in between…… dsc_6561.JPG

princesshk-3.jpgprincesshk-4.jpgprincesshk-5.jpg

….And get together with friends and family who were also there – Ned and Janet who came with us, Mich who lives there and my brother Jun Jun and Margs who were also on a businesstrip

princesshk-6.jpg

It was a good restaurant, the problem was we did not know what to order.  It was recommended by the concierge at the hotel.  Suddenly we are lost without Mom who normally does all the ordering….But anyway we had a great time and it was nice to have Chinese food in Hong Kong 🙂

princesshk-7.jpgprincesshk-8.jpg

Vegetable Rolls and Sauteed Diced Japan Wagyu beef with garlic

Barbecued Eel with honey and a Pork dish

princesshk-9.jpg

Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab with Spice Salt

Xiao long bao,  Another Unagi dish and fried rice

princesshk-11.jpg

I forgot the names – this was a yummy beef dish, basic sweet and sour pork and a vegetable dish

princesshk-12.jpg

Everyone ordered this for dessert – like a mango sago

princesshk-13.jpg

I took photos of dishes I liked in the menu that we did not order…they looked good

princesshk-14.jpgprincesshk-15.jpgdsc_6595.JPGprincesshk-16.jpgprincesshk-17.jpgprincesshk-18.jpgprincesshk-19.jpg

These looked good and the head waiter was pushing us to order this…but scary to see a menu with Seasonal price written on it 🙂 where there is no price and you do not know the weight of the seafood. So we did not order anymore

Kitchen’s Best

By | Foodie | 5 Comments

Kitchen’s Best is the famous pastry maker that you see in many bazaars.   After many years, they have opened their own commissary and bakeshop in a permanent location! I admire people who start from scratch and grow their business!  My real favorite is their sansrival ( The Best Sansrivals May 2, 2008) but I like all their other cakes too.

I did not even know they were open since September last year. So after merienda at Terry’s, we went here for dessert.  YUMMY!!!

The inseparable sisters that own and run Kitchen’s Best.  They all help each other in the business with Roselyn being the Chef and the other two, Marlyn and Berna assisting in the operations.   MORE POWER TO YOU!!

It is a nice, quaint place in the back of Karrivin Plaza, further down from Terry’s Selection and across Steps Dance Studio

A week or so after, I dragged my father in law and husband to eat there for dinner so we were able to try the food!  YUMMY!!!! Definitely Heart2Heart’s type of food- I love home cooking or old family recipes! We chose everything with an asterisk (*) which are their recommendations. I did not bring my big camera so the photos are not so good and do not do real justice to the dishes.   I did not even know Roselyn cooks too!! I thought she was just into baking!   So go try them for yourself  and support the three sisters at Kitchen’s Best 🙂

Tired of the usual offerings of the metro? Looking for something hip with a slice of posh? If you’re craving for a sumptuous dinner over good conversation, then Aquaknox restaurant in Makati is the place to go.  With their delectable array of seafood cuisine well renowned in Beverly Hills, you can have a taste of 90210 right in Makati.  They had just opened two weeks ago and have recently started opening for lunch a few days ago.

Thanks to Danny Vu and Natasha Morse who decided to bring one-of-a-kind Vietnamese concoctions savored by Filipinos here and abroad.  Their signature dishes, “Cua Rang Moui Toi” and Bong’s Vietnamese garlic pasta are sure to be hits among diners.
