The Stock Market

By | Celebrations, Foodie | 7 Comments

We wanted to take out our friend, Pam, who is here on vacation and we were so happy to discover this new restaurant at Bonifacio High Street.  I heard about it from my sister Krie so i recommended it… It was a good choice.  We liked the ambience, the food and most of all the companystock-market1.jpgstock-market4.jpg

stock-market9a.jpg

They just opened and are still partially finished.  The private room, the deli, pastry counter, wines, breads, etc are still not yet available.  They will also be selling the meats that come from the Del Monte Farms.

It is owned by Del Monte ( which explains all the pineapples and the plantation interiors ) in partnership with Center for Culinary Arts (CCA)

Pam lives in the States so we see hardly see her.

We are happy whenever she comes because it is the only time we have a reunion of our Spain group… Ana, Babylyn, Maricar, Pam and I

 dsc_5883.JPG

Babylyn, Maricar, Pam and I lived and studied together in Madrid for one year while Ana was in Barcelona.  Ana visited us, so we adopted her as part of our Spain group. Hopefully our next reunion will be in Spain! 🙂

Since they are on dry run, they are giving a 20% discount!  🙂 So hurry and try it!!!

We met one of the chefs, Carina Guevara.  She conceptualized the menu for the restaurant.

Tomato Fondue with Mozzarella and Parmesan Croutons – of course this is my order and loved it!   The tomato fondue is good also to add to any dish as a sauce so we asked for a teaspoon to scoop it out and put it on our plates

Pan Seared Roast Beef with Gratinated Potatoes with Bernaise Sauce – This dish was ordered by Ana and we all liked it.  It is made form their locally grown meat from the Del Monte farms.  The beef was tender and tasty.  It was very good and was more than enough for the 5 of us.  We had two more other main dishes.  It was a good share for only P 995.00.  WORTH IT!

A Chef With a Past

By | Foodie | No Comments

Tivoli was one of my favorites as a kid.  Dad and Mom used to go here a lot and I would enjoy having my lamb chops.  We recently ate here to try out Chef Paul’s menu.  THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT!

Thanks Dad and Mom for inviting us!

Heart2Heart decided to get the MENU SURPRISE and it was just PERFECT!   I asked the waiter to give me a list of the 6 course surprise- obviously he replied- ” Then it would not be a surprise anymore! “:-) So I took a chance and ordered it and really loved it! My type of dining….having a little of everything.

I felt it was better value than ordering one dish at a time and I got to taste more dishes.  I really liked the salmon which I do not normally eat and I was wondering how Chef Paul knew I liked lamb and cheese 🙂 I actually got to have my favorite…. lamb.   It was my first time to try blue goat cheese and it was my favorite cheese in the selection.  The creme brulee was YUMMY!!

Three of us had the Business Lunch menu and funny how they ordered almost the same things which explains why there are only 3 photos of dishes.

From the Kitchen of Ludette Moy

By | Foodie | 6 Comments

We are always happy to have Tita Ludette cook for the family.  Whether it be in Spain, New York or San Francisco!  She is the happy chef! Always funny and laughing! A very cheerful person and we all love her.

Tita Ludette was the woman behind the famous Dino’s restaurant.  That is the talk among my parents and their friends.  I probably was not born yet so I would not know.  But it seems like it was a very very popular restaurant back then.  Tita Ludette also owned and operated  Trendy Food Shoppe which served gourmet food to go and catering in San Francisco.

Thanks Tita for a wonderful meal which you prepared for our family lunch!

Jim’s Global Beer Exchange

By | Foodie | 3 Comments

Thanks to Jim and Rica for inviting us to your beer pairing event.  It is something very new for me since I do not drink beer.

jimandrica.jpg

A year ago, Jim started this business of importing beer.  He now has 22 kinds of beers that he distributes and is being served in selected restaurants in the country.

Don’t give up on me, maybe one day I will learn to appreciate beer.

MORE POWER TO YOU!

bakers-dozen-horizontal.jpg

Powerplant Mall will be having the Baker’s Dozen at Power Plant Mall (Concourse Level) on all weekends of September-December. Hope you can visit and try the yummy treats from old and new participants

Last year was the first Baker’s Dozen. It was originally scheduled for September but the participants themselves made a petition to extend. The Baker’s Dozen was extended until December. Here is the feature I made last year on the Baker’s Dozen ( click on the link )

Felix is owned by our friends Miguel Pastor and Ben Chan together with their partners Richard Gomez and Chef Florabel.  Miguel and Ben are venturing into so many businesses…and I am glad this time there is food involved 🙂

Congratulations and more power to you!

(thanks to Miguel for the owner photos)

I have eaten in Felix twice already.  First with my good friend Michele and then with Rina who invited us all.  I always like something different from the usual…I thought that Felix is something out of the ordinary and very creative.

Focaccia

By | Foodie | 5 Comments

Thanks to my bestfriend, Eds, for taking us to her cousin’s new restaurant!  RG and his chef friend, Ivan, worked together to come up with Focaccia.  Thanks also to the mom of RG, Tita Evelyn, for supporting this new venture.  Hope you can all support these two young guys!

The prices are very reasonable and the quality of the food is very good.  Definitely value for your money.  Perfect for big groups so you can share the dishes.  We enjoyed our lunch!   We will be back many many times and luckily it is very near our office!

More power to RG and Chef Ivan!

What a great concept!  Pazzo Rollio ( crazy rolls )!  I call it Super super thin crust pizza and I could eat it as is without even rolling it.  I love thin crust pizzas!  This kind is really the thinest I have tried.  I love it!! I want to try the other kinds!!!! 3 to 4 people can share one order and it is reasonably priced and YUMMY!
