Tokyo Disney Sea

By | For kids, Travel | No Comments

When in Tokyo with the kids, there is Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo Disney Sea.  We went a few days after Christmas and it was a big mistake.  There were just too many people.  But take note that no matter how many people there are, the Japanese are very disciplined and still remain quiet.

All the rides had long lines.  One of the major attractions which was Journey to the Center of the Earth was a 240 minute wait.  There is a sign outside every ride which tells you the wait per ride.  There was nothing below 100 plus minutes.

Nevertheless, it is always nice to be with the family in Disneyland!

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea – We lined up for a fast pass for this so we were able to ride this after 2 hours and then later on realized that the first ride we should have lined up for was the Journey to the Center of the Earth 🙁  so we missed it

No one was brave enough to ride this….good thing the lines were long 🙂

Even to buy drinks and food, there is a line. We had to line up to buy churros and a drink! There seems to be a line for everything in Japan…

There are two areas which are mainly for young children- Arabian Coast and Mermaid Lagoon

In the Mermaid Lagoon, there is an indoor part which is a bit dark and there are rides for kids

Yay! we got to ride another ride! 🙂 Lines were not as long in the Mermaid Lagoon but it still took us 30 minutes to line up for this ride!

Little Apprentice

By | For kids, Giving Back, What's New at Starbucks? | 6 Comments

Last November 27 and 28, 2008, the Transition Class of The Young Learners Collaborative ( YLC )  had a Food Fair. The fair was a culminating activity on the topic “Little Apprentice”. YLC is a school owned and operated by my friend, Tricia Eusebio-Hosaka together with Gina Gloria and Anette Del Rosario.

The idea was to cook and sell snacks to all the students of YLC and the proceeds of the fair will go to a foundation

They declared a “NO BAON DAY” so that all the kids, parents and teachers could purchase snacks from the Transition Class.

The students were able to raise the amount of  Php 5722.55 which they wanted to donate to the Starbucks foundation:”Spark Hope”.

So, Heart2Heart arranged a meeting for the YLC children and a Starbucks branch near the

school, Tomas Morato branch, last December 17, so the  students could personally donate the money. They requested that a representative from UNICEF be there  to explain to the students where their donation will go to.  What a great idea Tricia!! Thank you for choosing Spark Hope!  Tricia told me that Starbucks matched their donation that day…

Tenement Feeding Program at Beacon

By | For kids, Giving Back | No Comments

This is one of the reasons I am happy my son is at Beacon.  Beacon has a way of bringing out the creativity in each one which is why there are always great ideas which are not the ordinary or the traditional way of doing things.

Not only are they doing the outreach but they work hard for it too.  They learn not only to share but to be able to share something that you worked hard for or something which you made with your own efforts.

LazerXtreme

By | Entertainment, For kids | No Comments

I took Javier with his cousin, Lucas, today at LazerXtreme.  Javs had a party here and he enjoyed it so much.  The next day, his older brother also went here with his teenage friends.   It seems to be very popular among the kids.  One game lasts for around 20 minutes.  I went inside with them and it does look like fun, even adults will enjoy playing with each other.  Looks like this will be the latest hang out of the kids 🙂lazerxtremelogo.jpgp1060162.JPGp1060167.JPGp1060177.JPGp1060174.JPGp1060195.JPGp1060197.JPGp1060179.JPGp1060190.JPGp1060192.JPGp1060210.JPGp1060213.JPGp1060214.JPGp1060215.JPGp1060169.JPGlazerxtreme-website-lazertag-arena-in-manila-20081116.jpg  p1060157.JPG

For the grandkids

By | For kids, Great Ideas | 2 Comments

In Tita Nena’s Subic garden she built two bahay kubos and a sand box for her grand kids… No wonder they don’t mind coming over…Lola Nena makes sure that her kids and grandkids all have their rooms and prepares everything for them when they come over.  Suddenly Javier wants to be invited when he is in Subic 🙂

Best in Costume! Back to Back!

By | Best of, For kids | 2 Comments

My friend Janet never fails to surprise me with her creativity!!!  She makes all the costumes of her kids and David has won two straight years already in the Manila Polo Club Halloween party. Last year he won as a tree and this year he won as a garbage can.   She is so creative, she does not buy anything.  She makes use of the things she has in her house or extra props that she can use.  AMAZING!    Joshua, the younger brother,  went as a shower which I found very creative too!
