SmartShop 2013 is a two-day bazaar that will showcase women who have been contributing to the Philippines’ economic growth and development by creating wealth and providing jobs through their various enterprises. As proceeds will benefit our club’s disadvantaged women beneficiaries in the hope of empowering them, the SmartShop’s women vendors are thus helping their fellow women. Our club’s other beneficiary is a Psychological Center in Marillac Hills, Alabang, where we help rehabilitate an average of 250 sexually abused girls aged 6 to 17 Organized by the Zonta Club of Makati and Environs, this lifestyle shopping fair will highlight fashion and beauty products, arts and crafts, home items, healthy food, specialty items not found in shops, and holiday décor, at the Rockwell Tent on 21-22 September 2013 [email_link]

My son, Jaime, wanted to do some charity work during his summer break together with his friends.  I was so happy he asked my advice and he chose our very own foundation.  He wanted to do a basketball clinic but I told him the kids might be too young yet and it was rainy season so I suggested a field trip which I had been planning but has not pushed through.  It was a good thing too because it was typhooning days before and they had arrived late due to traffic.  For the day, we adopted 23 kids from the Sister of the Poor of St. Catherine of Siena We started with feeding them breakfast to make sure they do not get hungry till lunch Then we immediately left for Manila Ocean Park Thank you to Jaime’s best friends for joining and helping out – Charles Lane, Dachan Park, Gabs Villafuerte, Bettina Lichauco and of course litre brother, Javier joined us too.  Each of them were assigned to take car of 3 to 4 kids each The two sisters that accompanied the kids from the Sisters of the Poor of Catherine of St. Siena Thank you Ocean park for partially sponsoring our field trip – we went to four different places in the park First stop was the Oceanarium Playing around 🙂 Lining up to enter Antartica It was so cute- the penguins would follow the hands of the kids wherever they moved it Jaime and friends wanted photo ops so they went inside and fed the penguins Slide O’ Fun!  This was actually fun but not all the kids could ride because they had to be a certain height to ride it SNOW!!! 🙂 This was my favorite part in Ocean Park! Bird of Prey was our last stop Feeding the eagles This was my first time to go to Manila Ocean Park.  I look at it as a Mall which you can enter even without any entrance fee.  There are certain areas where you have to pay an entrance fee – like all these attractions.  There are also other rides and shows which you have to pay separately depending on what you want to do.  Then aside from that there are many shops and food stall around the place.  Group Shot before leaving The kids were all sleepy and tired on the way home 🙂 We fed them lunch back at headquarters before they went home!  Yummy Munla bbq for the kids Plus yummy Golden Spoon chocolate frozen yogurt for everyone!! I took a photo of each of them happily eating their yogurt 🙂 And lootbags prepared by Jaime and his friends!! Which includes Cheese Curl barrels sponsored by Herr’s snacks!!  Thank you Herr’s! The sisters have to drive the kids 🙂  Click below to go to the website of Manila Ocean Park – they have many new things coming up [email_link]
