Born Free

By | Giving Back, What's New at Rustan's, What's new at Shopwise? | One Comment

Born Free – Make It Right From The Start!

Human Nature is the Philippines’ leading brand of genuinely natural personal care and cosmetics products. A social enterprise, it is driven by its core philosophy: PRO-PHILIPPINES, PRO-POOR and PRO-ENVIRONMENT. Founded in November 2008 by Anna Meloto-Wilk and Camille Meloto, daughters of Gawad Kalinga founder Tony Meloto, Human Nature’s products are 100% made in the Philippines and 100% free from harmful chemicals.

 human-nature-born-free.jpg

Babies are God’s precious little gifts, life’s miracles filled with such innocence, love and joy. BUT, do you know that some ingredients found in baby products and baby food have actually been linked to asthma, reproductive disorder and more? At this early point in a baby’s life, their immune systems are at their most vulnerable stage, so it’s important to know what you are feeding them and putting on their bodies.

Human Nature, in partnership with Rustan’s Supermarket and Shopwise and supported by Mommy Mundo, have teamed up to bring you BORN FREE – a campaign that’s all about setting your little one on the path to a healthy life… about making it right from the start. For every parent’s peace of mind, Human Nature Natural Baby Care products are now a retail exclusive in Rustan’s Supermarket and Shopwise to make sure that your baby enjoys only the purest, most natural care that’s 100% free from harmful chemicals such as phthalates, sulfates, mineral oil and parabens.

Introducing, Human Nature’s 3-step baby care — the first and only genuinely natural and affordable baby care products available for Filipino mothers everywhere.

 baby-wash-human-nature-born-free.jpg

Step 1 – 99.3% Natural Baby Wash for Gentle Cleansing.  Cleans your baby’s skin and hair while nourishing it at the same time, thanks to its unique natural ingredients. Lavender, rosemary and chamomile help calm and soothe for a happy baby during bath time. (500ml – Php299.75; 200ml – Php149.75)

baby-lotion-human-nature-born-free.jpg

Step 2 – 100% Natural Baby Lotion to Moisturize & Nourish. Newborn babies need time to adjust to their new, dry environment. Keep your baby’s skin from drying out with this 100% natural baby lotion made with avocado and sunflower oils plus aloe vera to lock in moisture and provide skin nourishment. It’s the leave-on lotion made with all-natural goodness to keep your baby happy and rash-free. (200ml– Php174.75)

 baby-oil-human-nature-born-free.jpg

Step 3 – 100% Natural Baby Oil to Protect & Nurture. Studies have shown that premature or low birth weight babies massaged daily with sunflower oil are 41% less likely to develop infections. Made with pure, premium-grade sunflower oil – none of that mineral oil that comes from the same black gooey stuff that fuels your car – to help heal, protect and nourish baby’s skin. It’s the baby “oil-over” you can truly trust! (100ml – Php174.75)

Nurturing and caring for your babies has never been this easy! And because love knows no compromise, Human Nature provides you with… Only the Good!

Drink Hope, give Hope with Hope in a Bottle

welcome_page.jpg

Education is the key to our country’s future success. But with 88% of our students in public schools and a classroom shortage of 66,800 – our future depends on getting things right for them.

hiab_manifesto.jpg

Fortunately, making a difference in the lives of these public school students is now as easy as buying bottled water with Hope in a Bottle. Launched by Friends of Hope Inc.,

559816_316957615026803_283068288415736_776140_954912760_n.jpg

a non-profit organization that aims to empower students through better education, Hope in a Bottle contains 500ml of purified drinking water and is priced at parity with existing products in the market.  Apart from quenching your thirst, it also allows you to help a worthy cause. All of Friends of Hope Inc.’s profit goes straight to building new public school classrooms for Filipino kids in need, making it a better choice when buying water.

Generously supported and distributed by Rustan’s, Ministop, Krispy Kreme, Seattle’s Best Coffee, Jamba Juice, Shopwise, Kenny Rogers, Super 8, Suy Sing, Landmark, South Supermarkets, and selected Robinsons Supermarkets.

“Partners like Rustan’s, Seattle’s Best, Krispy Kreme, Jamba Juice, South Supermarket and SuySing decided to carry us even before anybody knew what Hope was about. I think that speaks volumes about the heart of a business when it chooses to be involved in something that invests in the country’s future.” Nanette went on to say.

 krispy-kreme-nanette-medved-po.jpg

Asked about the team that made Hope in a Bottle a reality, Nanette says, “You’d be amazed at the number of people who want to help a good effort and Hope wasted no time taping the best minds in marketing, production, and management to make this effort a reality. I think that’s an incredible opportunity and resource that businesses overlook sometimes- the willingness of individuals who want to be part of something that makes a difference.”

When asked about the future plans of Hope beyond Hope in a Bottle, Medved answered, “The problem that we are trying to address is quite a large one- and we have no illusions that we are somehow going to be the solution. All we aspire for is to be a part of the solution- so with regards to any future plans… we intend to just put one foot in front of the other right now and hope for the best.”

CSR initiatives for business is not new, however the concept of having CSR be the sole component of a consumer goods business is. Hope in a Bottle may not plan to be the solution to the overwhelming problem of public education but it may spark a movement that can be.

JIMMY CHOO LAUNCH ICONS CAPSULE COLLECTION AND THE JIMMY CHOO FOUNDATION

Jimmy Choo announces the launch of ICONS, a capsule collection of shoes inspired by the most significant creations from the company’s archives. In conjunction with this collection launch, the company also announces the creation of The Jimmy Choo Foundation, a charitable trust that will be chaired by Jimmy Choo Founder and Chief Creative Officer, Tamara Mellon OBE.A commemorative coffee table book, entitled JIMMY CHOO XV highlights these 15 iconic archival shoes and anthologizes their creation through design sketches, editorial imagery, paparazzi shots and house photography. The release of the Icons collection and the JIMMY CHOO XV are a part of the year-long celebration of the brand’s 15th Anniversary.

jimmy-choo-icons-01.jpgjimmy-choo-icons-03.jpg

I wanted to create a modern capsule collection inspired by memorable styles from our history that represented milestone moments for the brand and embody the DNA of our house style. These modern interpretations of classic designs represent the iconic glamour ofJimmy Choo today.”

Tamara Mellon, OBE Founder and Chief Creative Officer

Fifteen iconic shoes from Jimmy Choo’s archives served as the source of inspiration for the modern interpretations and represent the most renowned moments from the brand’s history. Among them are the famous ‘Feather’ shoe immortalized by Carrie Bradshaw in Sex in the City when she anguished, “I lost my Choo!” Of these 15 archival shoes, 10 styles have been reinterpreted as new classics as the ICONS Collection.

ICONS Collection

The ICONS Collection reinterprets the classic archival originals into modern day collectors’ items. The Feather shoe from Sex in the City has been reconceived as a platform sandal in violet suede with hand applied peacock-blue feathers studded with crystals.

jimmy-choo-icons-04.jpg

The original Murial sandal that featured a gold embellished flower has been reimagined in zebra-print pony and topped with a flouncy red-silk corsage flower.

jimmy-choo-icons-02.jpg

Each shoe from the ICONS collection will be packaged in a special commemorative box that will include a card explaining the heritage of the item. Ten percent of the net salesof ICONS shoes will be donated to the Jimmy Choo Foundation.

JIMMY CHOO XV Book

Published by Rizzoli with a foreword by fashion journalist Colin McDowell and introduction by Tamara Mellon OBE,JIMMY CHOO XVchronicles the 15 most memorable shoes from the company’s archives and reflects on what has made them hallmarks of the Jimmy Choo style and renown. Through captivating imagery shot by photographers such as Mario Testino and Terry Richardson, editorial from the world’s top fashion magazines, paparazzi shots from the red carpet, design studio sketches and behind the scenes photography, the reader is taken on a visual tour through an anthology of these iconic Jimmy Choo creations. The company will donate one hundred percent of its revenues from the sale of the book to the Jimmy Choo Foundation. JIMMY CHOO XV will be launched in Jimmy Choo stores worldwide as of November 2011 and in fine booksellers worldwide from February 2012.

The Jimmy Choo Foundation

The Jimmy Choo Foundation will be a non-profit charitable trust that empowers women and others by helping them to lead healthier and safer lives. The Jimmy Choo Foundation will beestablished following the ideals of its chairperson,Tamara Mellon OBE.

“As a mother and an entrepreneur, I feel keenly the need to provide women the opportunity to develop the confidence and optimism to dream and achieve. I feel extremely lucky to have been born into a world where I had access to good healthcare, and was free from the threat of

persecution. I want to help women to feel safe and healthy, so they can feel strong and confident.” Tamara Mellon OBE

Jimmy Choo has a history of activism and fundraising for women’s issues. In 2005, the company partnered with the Elton John AIDS Foundation to raise funds for the Simelela Rape Centre in South Africa. In a bold fundraising effort, Tamara Mellon tapped inspiring women and asked them to sit for eminent female fashion photographers and pose wearing nothing but Jimmy Choo shoes and Cartier jewelry. These photos were auctioned off and the proceeds were used to provide initial funding for Simelela. Four years later, the company launched a limited edition collection of shoes and bags in a signature punk print, and sold this capsule collection as Project PEP, again supporting the Elton John AIDS Foundation. A percentage of sales from this collection were donated to the Simelela Rape Center to fund the administering of HIV preventative PEP medication. Between these initiatives, more than $3.5 million has been donated by Jimmy Choo to support women in Africa affected by HIV. Jimmy Choo has also been involved in charitable efforts on a local level throughout its global network, whether supporting the Dyanmo Camp in

Italy for children with cancer, the Cantor Fitzgerald Fund in New York, or more recently, the Japanese Red Cross Society .

The Jimmy Choo Foundation will continue this traditionand work with partners who share the same values and mission, and meet the criteria for responsible governance.

I am pleased that the initial funding for the Jimmy Choo Foundation will come from the ICONS collection and JIMMY CHOO XV. These efforts, however are just the beginning. This is a long-term commitment for me and the company.”  Tamara Mellon OBE

JIMMY CHOO CRUISE 2012 COLLECTION

Exotic journeys don’t have to mean beach-bound. This season, the Jimmy Choo Cruise collection takes its cue not only from ideas of beautiful coastlines and glamorous poolside scenes but also from the modern urban landscape – the ultimate backdrop to any wild escapade. This is a collection that travels from luxurious ladylike totes, which follow clean graphic lines, to hand knitted raffia hobo bags, and from tall playfully colored wedges to sophisticated skyscraper stilettos in glossy patent finishes. Thrilling prints collide – racy zebra stripes and exuberant displays of Seventies-inspired florals are all in the mix. In short, Jimmy Choo Cruise 2012 is a collection that is as perfectly suited to city destinations as it is to the most remote, far-flung locations.

Sultry Sixties French actresses such as Anouk Aimée and Charlotte Rampling, Jimmy Choo heroines of AW11, continue to inspire with their alluring ability to play off fierce femininity and ladylike charm with all-out sex appeal in a clever game of seduction. An erotic, naughty undertone runs through this collection and is best played out via hues of soft nude in sumptuous box leather or in sheer mesh contrasted with glossy black and other fetishistic details such as reveal-and-conceal peek-a-boo cutouts, and bondage multi-straps.

But this is a collection too that revels in bold bursts of color and exotica. Jumpstarting graphic black and white, find fuchsia, coral pink, orange, Klein blue, vivid green, and chrome yellow – all made livelier by way of slick patent finishes, lustrous stingray and pony leathers, and color-saturated suedes. Add silver and gold metallic finishes, and a dusting of glamorous glitter, and Jimmy Choo Cruise 2012 makes for a dynamic statement.

New wave; as thoughts turn to escape and adventure, it’s those elements of the ocean – exotic stingray and scuba – that come together to impressive effect in CAYLA a zebra printed shagreen clutch with dazzling black pave trim.

Artisan luxury and urban modernity collide in CAYLA a hinged flip clutch in glowing yellow patent. For a tamer approach, CASSIE in nude and black zebra print pony is a subtler prize; a contrast chili-red patent trim sets it alight. CAYLA in glossy lipstick red patent make for a mesmerizing double act.

The favorite espadrille wedge is constantly evolving – presenting new prints, hot hues, and clever ways with construction. This includes the POLAR a peep-toe sling back design.

CHOO 24:7 – CRUISE 2012 COLLECTION

Choo 24:7 – Jimmy Choo’s definitive assortment of iconic shoes, boots, and bags is an ever evolving collection, and this season sees the collection expand with new styles revised in fresh colors and finishes.

Variations in heel height, close- or peep-toe insure a wedge for every sartorial style.

Choo 24:7 Bags evolve into a smaller scale with the return of ROSALIE, now scaled down to a mid-size version. Perennially chic, this season features arm-candy colors of white, black, fuchsia and neon orange- RIVER, a sleek, tailored shoulder bag, in the season’s vivid palette of fuchsia, neon orange, yellow, turquoise and white. Finally, wherever well-heeled travelers are headed, Jimmy Choo’s coffee cup holder perfectly compliments these new 24:7 additions and will have intrepid explorers feeling right at home – regardless of continent.

acc-art-auction-2012.jpeg

Greetings from the Asian Cultural Council Philippines!

We invite you to our Art Auction which starts at 4PM on February 4, Saturday at the Finale Art File, La Fuerza Compound, 2214 Pasong Tamo, Makati. Previews begin on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012.

Bringing to fore their unwavering faith on Filipino artists, some of the most notable art galleries in Manila unite for this year’s benefit auction of the Asian Cultural Council (ACC) Philippines Foundation, Inc.

The event gathers art works of Filipino masters and top contemporary artists courtesy of the following ACC gallery partners: Artis Corpus Art Gallery, Art Verite,  Big Gallery, Boston Gallery, Crucible Gallery, Finale Art File,  Galleria Duemila , Galerie Joaquin, Kingkong Art Projects Unlimited, Liongoren Gallery,  Mag:Net Gallery, Manila Contemporary,  Pinto Gallery, Silverlens Gallery,  Sining Kamalig, The Drawing Room Gallery and Tin-Aw Gallery.  Also joining the ACC fundraising are works of highly-regarded and award-winning individual visual artists who have been supporting ACC Philippines for many years.

Since the establishment of the Philippine Fellowship Program in 2000, the ACC Philippines together with ACC New York Foundation, has been raising funds and providing grants to over 60 Filipino artists of various disciplines. In the last two years, grants were given to 9 Filipino artists in the field of visual arts, museology, enthomusicology, theater, and music. Through your valuable support in this Auction, we hope to help more Filipino artists!

Sending some photos of art works that we will be on auction. The complete list will be on-line with prices and specs by January 28 at www.asianculturalcouncil.org. Please find attached the invitation with the list of artists participating. The list is still growing!

Thank you very much for your support!
