I’m Biking For the Tour of Hope 2009

By | Giving Back, Sports | 3 Comments

Jeena is the most adventurous woman that I know!!  She already showed signs when we were in highschool.  She was into all the physical activities! Not only that, she married one of the most active guys in town, Ernie!  So you can imagine…and now even their kids are getting into the action and the beauty of it is they seem to be enjoying as a family!  I am so glad to finally be featuring Jeena in Heart2Heart!! Not only to counter all the eating we do here 🙂 but to pay tribute to an outstanding woman who inspires us all to JUST DO IT! to be adventurous and explore new things! and at the same time save lives!

Messy Bessy by H.O.U.S.E.

By | Giving Back, Green | 5 Comments

Heart2Heart is proud to feature behind the scenes of Messy Bessy…… aside from it being environmentally friendly, it also helps 8 young adults. Messy Bessy is only one of the projects of H.O.U.S.E. which is a foundation set up by my sister, Krie.  I am looking forward to more of her projects because she is very creative..so watch out for more things to come from H.O.U.S.E

img_1891.jpg

Here is a short background of the foundation from Krie:

H.OU.S.E. was built to be a group of businesses that are run by young adults who are disadvantaged (formerly abused, impoverished, neglected and/or incarcerated) img_1034.jpg

Established in 2007 and has since generated over 4,000 hours of work experience for the 8 beneficiaries, all of whom are young adults from the Virlanie Foundation (www.virlanie.org).  Virlanie is the largest non-sectarian child-caring nonprofit organization in Manila.img_2753.jpg

The first enterprise of H.OU.S.E. is Messy Bessy Cleaners, Inc., established in November 2007. (www.messybessy.com)img_0634.jpg

Messy Bessy Cleaners, Inc. is a manufacturer and wholesaler of eco-friendly, nontoxic household cleaners.  Currently, we carry 18 different products offered in over 10 distribution points.img_0841.jpg

Profits from Messy Bessy are funelled back into the beneficiaries — through (1) salaries and (2) personal development programs which include home schooling, art therapy and the like.  Home schooling for 3 of our beneficiaries/employees started in March of this year.img_1646.jpg

The upcoming enterprises of H.OU.S.E. include the following:  Daisy’s Daydream all-natural Ice Cream and Misis Linis, a lower end line of green cleaners to be distributed through women’s livelihood projects in depressed areas.

HOUSE is a social enterprise — a for-profit venture with social goals.  Although our businesses are designed to sustain the project, we are still hoping for  donations to jumpstart our development programs.  We are in particular looking for:

(1) A space with affordable rent for Safe HOuSE — a center that holds our kitchen, office, storage and School HOuSE.

(2) kitchen supplies, office furniture, text books, books

(3) old clothes, uniforms, aprons

I Am Running to Make a Child SMILE!

By | Events and Launches, Giving Back | 2 Comments

Aside from protecting the Whale Sharks, Runners for Others has teamed up with the Condura Run and will also be making many children SMILE!   Ton is also a member of Runners for Others together with Jay, Anton, Nina, Butch, Cris, Kit Kat and many others who also RUN FOR A GOOD CAUSE!  I am so proud of all of them! According to Butch Jimenez, 21 children have gotten clef surgery from the efforts…. and the race has not even started yet.

From Butch Jimenez

r4o.jpg

The objective is to try and raise the spirit of helping others not just among R4O members but among all the runners that plan to participate in the Condura Run.

To this end, our plan is quite simple:

We will encourage those that register for the Condura Run to give a donation of Php 100, that can help a child with cleft deformity smile again.  Aside from being able to help, the runner will be  given a special edition running bib that says “ I am running to make a child smile”.

We plan to print about 2,500 bibs to be distributed among the various registration points of the Condura Run which will be set up inside Nike shops in Metro Manila.

Hopefully, we envision thousands of runners wearing the racing bibs indicating they don’t just run, they run for others.
