Nespresso cups, Toilet Paper rolls, Magazines and Pull rings

By | Giving Back, Green | No Comments

I am a sucker for recycling things!  I feel bad seeing things go to waste.  I am sharing this in case you still don’t have a venue to send your old magazines, nespresso cups or pull rings.  I met a nice lady who helps many NGOs and foundations – Philippine Community Fund ( PCF ), Invisible Sisters, Kaibiga, etc – by simply giving them these items.  Many of you have magazines and maybe drink soda and for those with restaurants , you might want to collect the pull rings.  Please contact Nena Ortoll at +63 918 918 5099

Please send the pull rings in this manner so it is already organized and clean

I googled what you can do with pullrings and there are so many.  Even pinterest has many ideas

Tita Nena has her staff make these holders using the foils of snack bags – clover chips, chippy etc.  She gives them as gifts to friends abroad

I also donate my toilet paper rolls to another lady!!  I must have accumulated this for two years.  I heard they make them into christmas decorations.  I am so happy they just don’t go to waste 🙂

So happy to always see Tita Maritess in many events, mostly art events but also in events that patronize our very own. There are some people I know who are so passionate about promoting our very own and Tita Maritess is one of them. Thank you Tita, we need more people like you Aside from being a Board of Director of MaARTe, she is also instrumental as Chairman, FilipinaZ Arts and Fashion Fair in another foundation, The Zonta Cub of Makati and Environs Foundation Inc. The ZCME is known for staging an annual fundraising activity in order to generate funds to support its projects, to wit: training disadvantaged women in livelihood skills and thereafter providing them with microcredit for their microbusiness, providing them with free Pap smear tests and breast-cancer screening, advising them on their legal rights, rehabilitating sexually-abused girls aged 6 to 17 in a haven in Marillac Hills, etc.  For this year, the Fair will highlight creations featuring designers, artisans, creative entrepreneurs and the like. It further intends to mobilize, sensitize and most importantly, empower women.

I also met a young boy (17 yrs old) Francisco Coching the IV. In the photo is his Dad and manager, Pam Banoi. Francisco rolls masking tape and makes them into beautiful works of art. He told me he would do this when he gets bored in class 🙂 The eagle in the photo took him two months to make and if you look close there is so much detail in it. What a unique form of art!! He is the grandson of National artist for a Visual Arts, Francisco V. Coching, the illustrator

Mass Cards by the Assumption Class ’64’68 Foundation

By | Giving Back, Velada-Others | No Comments

I met a very nice lady, Tita Nena Ortoll.  She did not want me to take her photo 🙂  She is from Assumption Class ’64 and they started this fund raiser by selling mass cards! Every year they are able to give 2,000 children  from the Assumption Mission schools all the school supplies that they need for the year.  She told me they have to identify what each grade needs,  then how many in each grade and then they will buy all the supplies.  Afterwhich the batch gets together to pack them and she told me that this was the most fun part 🙂mass-cards-by-the-assumption-class-1.JPG

She chooses the designs by researching and then uses them on the cards

Fight ALS with the Ice Bucket Challenge

By | Giving Back, Health and Fitness | No Comments

Heart2Heart loves how people help other people.  And how other people help for a good cause even if it means doing silly things 🙂  My kids joined and told me about this.  Here are some of my favourite and creative videos I saw on youtube

Published on Aug 15, 2014

Bill Gates accepts Mark Zuckerberg’s ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and nominates Elon Musk, Ryan Seacrest and Chris Anderson from TED to participate and raise awareness for ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

We’d like to thank Keith Yandle of the Phoenix Coyotes for the nomination of Paul Bissonnette, and we’d like to call out LeBron James, Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson.

We’d also like to dedicate this bucket drop to Keith Yandle’s good buddy Pete Frates for his continued fight with ALS.
