Heartbreak and Hope by Happy2Help

By | Giving Back, Travel | No Comments

While I was in Cebu, I missed this trip with the Happy2Help group and I am still wishing I went.  But thanks to Chary Mercado, she helped document their trip and shared it here at Heart2Heart.  Hoping to visit Tacloban one of these days and  try to help directly in some way.  These pink ladies have a unique way of helping 🙂

Leelu Mobile Massage

By | Giving Back, Spas | No Comments

In a few days, this pretty Mummy, Kate Moynihan, will be giving birth to her third child!  A baby girl 🙂  Two months ago, she also gave birth to her most recent venture called Leelu Mobile Massage.

I was able to visit Kate in her new home and in the basement she has a set up for training all her MA-ssage Therapists.  This is not the typical P 250.00 home service massage.

The massages are of better quality since she uses imported massage oils from the UK and the quality of massage is better since Kate went to school abroad to learn massage and her specialty was really on training

Kate and her team of MA-ssage Therapists.  Ma for Mama or Mummy 🙂  I hope that you will all help Kate help these Mummies and more mummies in the future as she grows her business.  I wish you all the luck in everything Kate!!  Good luck and more power!

Last week I was able to experience a Leelu massage from Mummy Harleen.  She came ready with everything – the massage table, the linens and the oil.  It’s a simple swedish massage but the quality of the massage, the strokes and the oil are really different from the others home service massages I have tried.  I will be trying the foot massage soon 🙂

Visiting Sister May

By | For kids, Giving Back | 2 Comments

I am so happy to visit Sister May.

Previous entry:  Meeting Sister May May 25, 2012

This time in her new home in Don Bosco Village Betterliving Subdivision

Wow!! Its a compound with three homes!!! Sister is so lucky she has generous benefactors from Italy

Love her hanging vines

The first home is Sister’s home with two other sisters

There is a prayer room

And as  you go up there is a stained glass window 🙂

The next house is like a guest house for visiting friends from Italy.  Sister has so many things in her house!! So many friends donate their things to sister and she keeps them all

One of the rooms was being used by Simone Rota, one of the Azkals who plays in Milan.  Sister took care of him since he was a kid.  At the time I visited he was staying with sister but was out for awhile playing in Malaysia.  Sister is star studded 🙂

This is one of the rooms in the house – How beautiful the window 🙂  The house is very very clean and tidy

The third house is where they have a small office and where sister houses 14 kids

Sister has a mini sewing factory in the house 🙂  She is so enterprising she makes and sells things which the Italians buy from her and sell in Italy

This bracelet is made out of retazos from fabrics and she sells them for P 5.00! 🙂

Social workers helping sister – Beverly Sedo and Clarissa Tadios

I am telling you , Sister May is amazing! She even has a mini bakery!  They have fresh pandesal every day!!!  She has to feed everyone in the house.  Take note of the photo below where she has an old style kitchen where she uses wood to cook!!  To save on electricity and gas, she just uses wood.  Sister has feeding every Monday, Wednesday and Friday in Camelia Creek for 150 children and every saturday in her house.

Alessandro and his wife Patricia were visiting at that time and they were here to pick up their adopted child, Antonio who is now 6 years old.  Antonio was one day old when he was found in a billiard hall in Cavite City

Many things going on in Sister’s house!  There is a guy there building a bahay kubo! 🙂

We delivered some ice cream for Sister and for the kids 🙂  Thank you Selecta!

Meet Joshua 18 years old.  He is studying to be a pilot.  He is on his second year in PATS and is taking a 4 year course.  After which he has to do 220 hours of flying for him to be able to be a pilot.  Sister already has one child who is now a pilot for Cebu Pacific

Youth with A Future 2014

By | Foodie, Giving Back | 2 Comments

What a very beautiful and meaningful event last March 18 at the Enderun tent.  It’s really a totally different affair when there is a cause behind it and that’s what made it special.

Thank you Enderun Colleges, Ducasse Education and Ducasse Institute Philippines!  youth-with-a-future-2014-1a.jpg

ywaf-invitation-email-2.jpg

I noticed a very attentive Chef Alain.  He is very attentive to everything.  I even saw him going to the kitchen – probably checking on the food preparation.  The ambience and the mood of the event was set by him and I could feel it and it’s really the type of feeling that’s warm, friendly and full of love.  It was no ordinary dinner.  I truly enjoyed the evening and I am sure everyone did

I am peeping through the curtains watching the Enderun staff preparing and I saw my friend, Suzette there 🙂  I am so proud!  She is my friend! 🙂

Founders of Enderun Javi Infante and Jack Tuason with his wife Luccia

Thank you to all those who attended and went for a good cause

The hardworking team that put together a wonderful meal

Our table

My hardworking batch mate and table mate, Tricia Tensuan, who organised all of this for Enderun and Chef Alain Ducasse!  Congrats Tricia!!!  I am sure it was all worth it

tricia-castaneda-tensuan-enderun.jpeg

The best meal is a meal made with love, for love, and that’s what we had.  Very delicious and very meaningful.

 ywaf-menu-email.jpeg

The amount of support from all the sponsors was overflowing

youth-with-a-future-2014-underun-5.jpg

Beautiful centerpieces made by Margarita Fores using the herbs from Tuloy Foundation gardens.  At the end of the dinner, these were auctioned off too.  An envelope was placed in the middle of the table for any donation to take home the centerpiece

Before the dinner was the silent auction and after dinner was the live auction.  This has got to be one of the funnest and most exciting auctions I have attended.

Our hosts for the evening, JJ Yulo and Xandra Rocha.  Thank you JJ for accepting the task to host last minute and to Xandra who even if she was not feeling too well, she really did a great job and it was not even obvious.  Everyone gave their heart and soul that evening.  It was so nice!
jj-yulo-and-xandra-rocha-alain-ducasse-dinner.JPG

Chef Jerome and Chef Alain discussing – Instead of just auctioning one dinner for 10 persons by Chef Jerome, they made it two dinners.  Each dinner went for P 200,000.00 for a total of P 400,000.00!

I loved our table 🙂  They were bidding and bidding 🙂 Happy Birthday to Chef Jay Gamboa who was celebrating that evening and also won in the auction a dinner for two in Beige Alain Ducasse in Tokyo!!

Tristan Choa from afar bidding 🙂

P 70,000!!! 🙂

One of the lucky winners of the dinner for 10

and the other!  Jean Henri Lhuiller! 🙂

On your way out, you get giveaways from the Tuloy Foundation Culinary Center students

It was delicious 🙂  A nice way to remember the evening
