Eve’s Garden

By | Foodie, Green, Travel | 4 Comments

Thanks to Neng for telling us about this place!!!! Though it has been in existence for ten years already, we only heard about it now.   We all loved it!!  In the beginning they were complaining that it was a bit far, around 30 minutes from the city, but when we got there, we enjoyed it! It’s all about being able to experience something different, something unique, meeting different kinds of people, doing different kinds of things…. discovering.  I am so glad my family is adventurous because I am! 🙂

Eve’s Garden has a set menu ( P 650.00 per person ) and she said it has been the same for the past 10 years!

Glass of Juice made of freshly squeezed pineapple juice with lemon mint and sage sweetened with mascovado sugar

img_6033.JPG

Soup made with a base of onions and squash with seven herbs garnished with parmesan cheese croutons and yogurt

img_6043.JPG

Salad Platter made of eight lettuce varieties served with carrots, turnips, walnuts and raisins and a ceasar type dressing made from organic flax oil, olive oil and sunflower oil prepared with seven fresh garden herbs

This was the highlight of our meal!!!  We were all amazed at this salad!  Heart2Heart took like 20 photos of this salad from all angles!!   The flowers are edible and we ate them!!  It was a big portion so we could not finish it ( except for my brother Quito 🙂 )

It’s a beautiful work of art just how it was prepared and made!!!!

 img_6053.JPGimg_6055.JPG

The dressing was really good, we all loved it.

img_6050.JPG

The server taught us how to eat the salad.  You have to get a lettuce and put the raisins, nuts, veggies inside

img_6056.JPG

Then dip it in the sauce and eat it!  YUM!

The International Bazaar Goes Green

By | Green, Shopping | No Comments

THE 2010 INTERNATIONAL BAZAAR

 dfa-bazaarpic-2.JPG

The International Bazaar goes Green on its 44th year! This fun and much anticipated event, will be held on a Sunday, November 21, 2010, from 9AM—7PM, at the PICC Forum, CCP Complex in Pasay City. This bazaar is headed by its chairperson, Mrs. Rosie Lovely Romulo, wife of DFA Secretary Alberto Romulo, in cooperation with the Spouses of the Heads of Missions (SHOM) and members of the consular corps in the Philippines.

As a shopping destination, it is definitely paradise what with the diplomatic and consular missions in the Philippines, government agencies, and local entrepreneurs selling choice merchandise that one cannot usually find in our country on a regular basis. But the heart of its success is the major support that it gives to the charities of the International Bazaar Foundation. Such charities include the Philippine Christian Foundation, Handicap International Philippines, the Rizal Medical Center, and the Association for the Rights of Children in Southeast Asia, among others.

This year, the International Bazaar Foundation has also decided to support the very important global thrust of preserving the earth, and so therefore will ONLY be utilizing reusable, eco-friendly shopping totes instead of plastic ones, as part of their commitment to environmentally-conscious and responsible shopping. These Fashionably designed non-plastic totes will be made available for sale at the event for those that want to purchase one, but the IBF also encourages the many thousands of people that attend this event to bring their own.

Aside from the multitudes of the finest products from around the world, there will also be special raffle prizes awarded to lucky winners. Because of this, the 44th International Bazaar will surely be the best one yet. Spread the word and see you there!

Tickets to the International Bazaar (P100) can be bought at the following places:

IBF office: 6th Floor, 2330 Department of Foreign Affairs Building, Roxas Blvd, Pasay City. Telephone Number: (02)833-13-20

 Tesoro’s: 1016 Arnaiz Ave (02)887-62-85

Tesoro’s: Ayala Alabang Center

You may also purchase your tickets at the event, on the day itself.

Knot Wrap Waste Not, Want Knot

By | Christmas, Green, What's New at Rustan's | No Comments

The Lush Knot-Wrap is inspired by the Japanese art of Furoshiki, which literally means “cloth for the bath”.    Originating from Japanese culture where it promotes caring for the environment and reducing waste, it started out in the 1600’s when people used it to carry their clothes and toiletries; Knot-Wrap is the eco-friendly wrapping cloth.

 lushwrapknot.jpg

Lush are introducing vintage scarves into shops to encourage customers to use them instead of gift-wrap.  At Php375 each, the beautiful scarves are reusable and multipurpose.  Using techniques similar to origami, it can be used for gift-wrapping, grocery shopping or simply as decor.

wrapknotlush2.jpg

Each year billions of plastic bags end up as litter and reusable bags, such as Knot Wrap, can help reduce the impact to our environment.  It can also reduce the amount of gift-wrap used this Christmas, as its versatility allows you to wrap almost anything regardless of its shape or size.

Choose from Lush’s selection of bath and body products and then have them wrapped in a beautiful vintage scarf.  It makes a gorgeous gift, but also an easy and eco-friendly way of carrying your Lush products home.  The scarves can then be re-used again and again either as bags, or as fashionable head-scarves / neck-scarves etc.

The scarves are beautiful, in a selection of colors and designs and bought from various Vintage clothing suppliers, allowing us to reuse existing fabrics rather than manufacturing our own = zero carbon footprint.  So more environmentally friendly and a lot more purse friendly than a Hermes scarf, but just as gorgeous!

And this year we have introduced our very first Knot Wrap Christmas gift, the adorable Matryoshka (Php995).  Always on the pulse of the latest trends, Lush has taken inspiration from Russia and its iconic doll-within-a-doll and created this cute cosmetic version.  The outer shell is made of a special, limited edition So White soap, and inside you will find two adorable Christmas ballistics, So White and Cinders, both shaped like little Russian Dolls.  They are all wrapped together in a mini Knot Wrap scarf, which makes for a great napkin or hanky.  The perfect packaging free gift.

 furushiki.jpgrussian-doll.jpg

In the Philippines, Lush is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc. (SSI) and is located at Glorietta 4, Power Plant Mall, Shangri-La Mall, Greenbelt 3, Mall of Asia, and Bonifacio High Street. You may also visit us online at www.lush.com.ph
