Another interesting practice in Indian Culture.  They have a Matrimonials classified ads section every Sunday in their newspaper.  They are looking for partners 🙂

Famealy Matters for the Endearing Filipino Parent

By | Foodie, Hot Off the Press, Household Tips | 2 Comments

It was so nice to arrive back home and see my copy of the newly released book by Mr. Francis Kong!  Thank you Mr. Kong and Shellane Dy for making me part of this.  Heart2Heart will always support your advocacy!

Monde Nissin launches book compilation on everyday intimacy at the family dining table

Monde Nissin, which began Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga in 2007, an advocacy that reminds Filipino families of the importance of having shared meals together, launches Famealy Matters: 50-Plus Stories of Everyday Intimacy at the Family Dining Table, a book compilation featuring well-known personalities and their stories about sharing memorable meal time moments with their respective families.

famealy-matters-cover-01.jpgintroduction.jpg

“Meal times provide opportunities for members of the family to sit around one table, share the same food, and listen to each other’s stories,” says Gen Aquino, Monde Nissin Media and Public Relations Manager. “And because many Filipino families today are guilty for taking such moments for granted, we at Monde Nissin wish to remind them of the joys that come with sharing meals together, through Famealy Matters.

famealy-matters-cover-02.jpg

The book compilation contains more than 50 personal meal time stories of prominent personalities from different industries, including Vice President Jejomar Binay and Tourism Secretary Mon Jimenez, religious leaders Archbishop Antonio Tagle and pastor Peter Tan Chi, showbiz celebrities Sharon Cuneta and Kris Aquino, and network tycoons Atty. Felipe L. Gozon of GMA 7, Gabby Lopez of ABS-CBN, and Butch Jimenez of PLDT, among others.

famealy-matters-0210.jpg

table-of-contents-01.jpgtable-of-contents-02.jpgtable-of-contents-03.jpgtable-of-contents-04.jpg

From the outrageous topics they talk about with their children to the exotic dishes they’ve tried and tasted together, these personalities tell all as they share what goes on at their dinner tables. Some would opt to prepare the meals themselves; others would prefer to take their children out to different places and experience new cuisines together.

A lot of these contributors would admit that with their hectic schedules, sharing meals together becomes quite difficult to achieve, especially with all kinds of social, economic, and technological factors contributing to the decline in the frequency of family dining. Most families have both parents working, with their children busy with school and extracurricular activities, resulting in each family member having to eat in their own time.

by-rica-de-jesus-01.jpgby-rica-de-jesus-02.jpgby-rica-de-jesus-03.jpg

But whatever it is they do to make their meal time moments more special, these parents make the necessary effort and take time to dine with their children because to them, shared meals are opportunities to reconnect, laugh together, and offer support to each other. It provides the daily solidification of the family unit where each person is recognized and validated.

filipino-family-meal-01.jpg

“At the end of it all, it’s nice to know that even these well-known celebrities and personalities go out of their way just to be able to gather their family together and sit down at the dining table,” says Famealy Matters publisher Francis Kong. Famealy Matters is a touching collection of personal narratives that make us realize how the gratification and benefits we get from sharing meals with the family is worth it.”

about-the-author.jpgfamealy-matters-045.jpg

And it’s also good and timely that last January, President Benigno Aquino III, released Presidential Proclamation 326, which christens every 4th Monday of September every year as Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga day, in support of Monde Nissin’s advocacy that believes in the power of eating together as a simple but effective means for Filipino parents to raise happy, healthy, and successful children.

Famealy Matters: 50-Plus Stories of Everyday Intimacy at the Family Dining Table is available at National Book Store, Powerbooks, or through Anne Cristobal of Success Options Inc. (727-0291, 0920-9253348, or successoptionsinc@yahoo.com).

Give Up Tomorrow

By | Hot Off the Press | One Comment

Thank you to Tin Moreno for inviting us to watch the premiere of Give up Tomorrow!

[wp_youtube]JuQZG-Tq_18[/wp_youtube]

premiere-rockwell-give-up-tomorrow.jpggive-up-tomorrow-02.jpg

Give Up Tomorrow is the story of Paco Larrañaga.  A young man together with 6 other boys who were accused of murdering two girls in Cebu.

give-up-tomorrow-03.jpggive-up-tomorrow-04.jpg

There were many issues portrayed in the file- Truth, Justice, and one thing that really struck me the most was how the family fought this through for 15 years!  Till this very day, they continue to fight for justice for their son/brother.  And for the two young girls who were murdered, it’s the same thing.  The parents will not stop till justice is served.

 give-up-tomorrow-05.jpg

Heart2Heart loves the title of the movie!  It’s very applicable for everyone!  As I watch the film, I was getting so tired hearing all the excuses and denials being given to the family and seeing all the hardships the family had to go through one after the other and I am just a spectator, yet the family, till this day, have not given up!

SHOWING TOMORROW in MANILA theaters and in Cebu in SM.  Don’t miss it!

557208_545802152102268_2080123831_n.jpg

Until this day – Paco will not admit he is guilty even if it will mean his freedom!  I admire him for that!

give-up-tomorrow-06.jpg

Heart2Heart salutes Marty Syjuco who is featuring his first film which took him 7 years to make and finish with Michael Collins!  A must see movie!! They did such a great job in documenting it.  Marty’s brother is the brother in law of Paco

Mimi Larrañaga, sister of Paco.  Another amazing character in all of this.  Watch her as she narrates the story in the movie.  Mimi is with Kat Malvar, who was one of the witnesses that took the stand.  42 other witnesses all fought for Paco and were willing to tell the truth that Paco was in manila during the time of the crime

give-up-tomorrow-08.jpg

Last night’s premiere was organize by Tita Chona, Tita Rica and Tita Raquel.  Heart2Heart was lucky to have been part of this before it’s final showing tomorrow.  Thank you to Gina Lopez who volunteered to ask for help from the President.  The family needed someone who knew the President to ask for help in Paco’s case and Gina Lopez willingly volunteered.  God bless her!
