Juicers and Blenders

By | Household Tips, Shopping | 3 Comments

This has been my juicer for the past 5 years!  It was one of the first ones probably and my mom bought one in Bloomingdales and then she bought one for me 🙂  I forgot how much it cost during that time,  maybe around $ 75.00 to $ 100.00.  But I bought one in 2012 for $ 53.00 (amazon prime)  and now I recently saw it for $ 39.99 (amazon prime.)  It’s a good juicer.  I have had no complaints about it because probably it does the job and I am not the one cleaning it! 🙂

I bought the other one for the States for me to use while I am there so I could still have my green smoothie every morning – I wanted to cry! 🙂  I would spend almost an hour every morning to clean the vegetables, slice them, then juice them, then drink the smoothie then the cleaning is the nightmare!! I have to disassemble all the parts and clean it and the hardest is that strainer part where the pulp gets stuck.  I never realised it was this complicated 🙂  I never had to worry about it since my staff at home does it for me.  But don’t get me wrong, I love this machine, I still have it at home and this is what I use but I have to use a blender after to add ice or frozen yogurt or banana.  My staff does it all at home.  The price is good and it does the job if you don’t want to spend a lot for a juicer.

Then I went to Costco and they had this demo there for this blender called VITAMIX!  I wish I took a video of the demo because it was so amazing!! I just put a video here from youtube.  Take time to watch 🙂

[wp_youtube]v5Qq6YcCk8o[/wp_youtube]

It’s my dream machine 🙂 It really blends the fruits and vegetables so well together with the ice, the bonus was it was so easy to clean!!!! 🙂 I remember the price being US$ 300 plus in costco – I guess it is higher online.  I am still hoping that one day I can own this but maybe only if I am the one doing the juicing 🙂  Worried the expensive gadget may break if mishandled 🙁 I have had maybe 7 to 10 blenders already in the house that have been damaged by the staff 🙁

You can buy it here in the Philippines

This is a good blender too recommended by my friend, Lucille!  Because of her, all the girls ordered it too in 2012 at a price of around $70.00.  Now it’s around $100.00

Another juicer introduced to me by my friend Bambee, Hurom,  was actually popular.  I know a few friends and family who bought it after I featured it.  Javier wants me to get him one too.

Another one I heard about is from a demo in Rustan’s, called Matstone

This is the most recent one I heard about from Patty! JUICEPRESSO which is made in Korea.  It costs P 16,999.00 and you get back a P 1,000 GC from S&R 🙂  Available in S & R only for now.  I love that it can make calamansi juice this way! LOOK!!!

Judging by that video – I asked Patty if it’s like a Hurom and she said yes except that this is the difference

Lucille’s Smoothie Recipe October 6, 2011

For the past five years I have been taking this green smoothie everyday which was taught to me by my Mom.  I sometimes add Golden Spoon Frozen Yogurt simply tart and add a banana to complete it 🙂 The apple in this mixture adds the sweetness to the juice so you don’t really get to taste the bitterness of the ampalaya and green pepper.  To mask it some more, add the banana – and even more with the frozen yogurt 🙂

 green-smoothie-heart2heart.jpg

My kids take it too but not as regular.  I made a menu for them and for the kitchen to use so they don’t have to think anymore and I make it easier for them to have their smoothies.  So they will just order from the kitchen through the menu and just give the number of the smoothie they want.  I got some recipes online and we are trying them now.  Our number one is still the Green smoothie but slowly trying out the others

By | For kids, Health and Fitness, Household Tips, Medical, Tributes | One Comment

Sandy continues to be in our hearts and in our lives as she spreads the word about dengue and how to protect ourselves from becoming a victim.  Sandy’s family are keeping her spirit alive through their recently launched project – The Sandy Project.  Sharing it hear in Heart2Heart and I am asking you to spread this to all your friends and family and especially to children so they can be aware of dengue

Yesterday, Sandy’s school gave a very beautiful tribute for her!  I am so glad I took videos!  I worked on this quickly so please bear with me.  I hope it will still capture the essence of the event.  Thank you Peaches for making me a part and making me cry with everyone else!  Thank you for allowing me to document this wonderful tribute.  You are truly blessed

Here are some photos which I will post as well from the video.  It was my first time to visit MGIS Mahatma Gandhi International School.  A very nice school with only around 150 students so approximately 10 per level.  So almost everyone knows each other here 🙂  It’s an IB school

When I arrived in the school, I saw this poster!!  The kids of Peaches are all champions in archery including Sandy!

 Everyone gathered in the auditorium

 For a tribute

 Spearheaded by Headmistress Rebecca Warren

They prepared song numbers, slideshows and planted a beautiful tree in commemoration of Sandy

Grandma’s Secret

By | Great Inventions, Household Tips, Shopping | One Comment

Last year I met Christine at the Barbie store launch!  I was so happy to know that she used to work for Starbucks with my brother as his project assistant in 2000.  She left in 2003 to take her MBA and then worked in Citibank after graduation.

christine-grandmas-secret.jpeg

Christine has left the corporate world and I am sure many of you know her already since she has a very popular blog – Manila Fashion Observer ( http://www.manilafashionobserver.com).  And to those of you who don’t, click below to visit her website

Christine lived in New York for awhile since her husband worked there.  This was where she discovered Grandma’s Secret!  She now brings in this product and is one of her businesses aside from her blogging and writing for some publications on the side.  And being a very hands on Mom, believe her when she says ” It really works!”

Vellux Wireless Calling System

By | Great Inventions, Household Tips, Technology | One Comment

We had a visitor at home, Shaq!  🙂  James had asked him to come over because he saw a gadget in Pancake house that he thought would help us in our house

vellux-philippines-5.jpg

We were having a hard time calling our household staff who are in different parts of the house at different times of the day.  Apparently they have a device that can call or alert people through a watch that they will wear 🙂  Has life gotten this complicated?? 🙂  These devices are usually used in restaurants, hotels, casinos and many other places.  James actually saw this in Pancake House in Polo club.  On the table there is a device you can press to call the waiter.  In other restaurants, they give you this gadget which will alert you when your food is ready at the counter or if you are waiting in line and you can go around the mall first and the gadget will alarm when your table is ready.

But now there seems to be a new market – the home!vellux-philippines-1.JPG

There is a button you press to call a particular staff or person and they can customize it depending on how many people  vellux-philippines-2.JPGvellux-philippines-3.JPGvellux-philippines-4.JPG

And because I am bad at explaining and you probably did not understand what i was saying up there, I asked Shaq to send me some materials to explain this.  This is good especially for business  vellux-philippines-7.jpg vellux-philippines-8.jpg vellux-philippines-9.jpg vellux-philippines-10.jpg vellux-philippines-11.jpg vellux-philippines-12.jpg vellux-philippines-13.jpg vellux-philippines-14.jpg vellux-philippines-15.jpg vellux-philippines-16.jpg vellux-philippines-17.jpg vellux-philippines-18.jpg vellux-philippines-19.jpg vellux-philippines-20.jpg

Give Shaq a call!
