Late last year,  I was talking to Ginggay and she was telling me how her husband, Noel, had started photography as a hobby.  He had bought a new camera in preparation for the birth of their first baby.  We were laughing because she was wondering why Noel spends so much time taking insects and bugs! 🙂

A few months after, Noel directed me to his Flickr site to view his photos and these were the bugs Ginggay was talking about!  Wow! Not a laughing matter at all!  They are beautiful photos of insects and bugs!

And here are more of my favorite ones from Noel’s photos:

I remember the time when Noel took time out to call me and attempt to help me in my photography.  I appreciate it so much when my friends give me advice.

Noel, You have gone so far from just bugs and insects! You are a great photographer!

Noel has many more beautiful photos, you can view it in his Flickr account

Gothia Cup 2007 by Jun Lopez

By | For kids, Photography, Sports | 9 Comments

It has been a year since the Gothia Cup….

Thanks to my Dad for capturing the moments.  I took the photos and he took the video.  Though I use photos to capture moments, a video is the closest you can get to real life.  Not only did he capture it on video, he worked on editing it and coming up with a short film which he produced.  Just like a director, my dad really studies how he will make the film- the effects, the music which he chooses from his favorites,   the sequence of events, the captions, and the overall content of the film.  And I like his style!  I am sure many of you too will.  I wish I could have my Dad with me in every event to capture the moments and make the video.  But obviously, his films are all works of love – it took him a year to finish this video and I can say that it is worth it because aside from the memory of being there last year and witnessing the event, I can watch this film a million times and will always have tears of joy watching a great moment in my son’s life.

It’s a box office hit!  PRICELESS!

Thanks Dad and Mom for even convincing us to go to Gothia – we realized later on that Jaime needed the moral support during the games and hopefully because of that he will always remember that we will always be there for him to support him….anywhere in the world!

My First Seven Years

By | For kids, Great Ideas, Hot Off the Press, Photography | 3 Comments

My good friend, Rina, had a great idea for her son’s seventh birthday.  Heart2Heart would like to share the idea with you.

Rina compiled into a book ( by Picture Books ) some of the art works of Quinto from his first seven years and gave it to his family and close friends.  I am fortunate to have received one and I thought it was a beautiful gift to share and it reflects the thoughts and the growing years of Quinto expressed through art.

Happy 7th Birthday Quinto!

Sharing with you the pages of Quinto’s book….

William’s Photo Supply

For those who ask me for a “suki” for cameras and photo supply- here is one.  This is actually from my Dad.  Another one of Dad’s friends in Hong Kong.     William has been in Prince’s Building for 35 years already.  It may not be the cheapest in town but you will be sure William will give you your camera as it should be with all the components with it.  Some shops might give you a lower price but might be missing some parts or accessories. In other words, he is a reputable shop.  Location wise it is in a very decent building.  So, do try William when you buy your photo supplies.

Essenses Foundation Celebrates Women’s Month

By | Beauty, Giving Back, Photography, What's New at Rustan's | One Comment

March 25, Tuesday – 4:00 pm

Heaven on the Fifth, Rustan’s Makati

Essenses Foundation by Rustan’s celebrates Women’s month through the launch of the book by Isa Lorenzo ( who is also a Board of Trustee for the foundation ) which features Filipinas.  Heart2Heart thinks it is a great feature, a great subject.  Why look elsewhere when we have many Filipinos right in front of us who are great achievers.

The photo exhibit was launched last January of 2006 and it has gone through several countries throughout the world- The US, Paris and soon to be in Belgium.  My photos do not justify the real photos since it was difficult to take photos of the photos ( probably done on purpose ) – so do stop by Rustan’s to visit the exhibit.

And now, the photos were compiled in a book which was launched mid last year.  Do get a copy of the book which aside from the photo, has a short story on each Filipina featured. Isa says that the book is small because it is meant to be a children’s book for kids with small hands.  She wants the future generation to be able to read the book so they will be inspired by the 30 Filipina women who have made a difference in our society.

For every P 1,500.00 sales from the book of Filipinas, P 500.00 will be given to Essenses Foundation.

My Bangkok Seminar by Peachy

Peachy was very fortunate to have attended the workshop of Manny Librodo last March 1 and 2 in Bangkok!  Manny and Aloha chose two of their favorite works at the end of the seminar and one of them was the work of Peachy, Congratulations!!

I joined the photo workshop of Aloha Lavina and Manny Librodo in Bangkok. I really like Aloha’s travel photos a lot and looked forward to seeing her style of shooting. I love Manny’s use of natural light for all his photos and wanted to watch how he achieved his effects before post processing. It was a two day workshop. Extremely hard and tiring work as we shot from 6 am to 6pm the first day in an old abandoned building with no chairs or bathrooms. So we were on our feet basically all day. The next day was all morning also with photoshop class all afternoon. It was 6-9 different set ups the first day as this was the first time that they used Manny’s 2 favorite models together in one workshop. Kharu is a Filipina while Krystal is Thai. Though they both appear larger than life and extremely sophisticated in photos, they are both really sweet and simple. It was a first for Manny as well to shoot them together. Something you could really see he loved doing. Am only posting a few of my shots as these were the shots that were most different from the others. The borrowed zoom lens from Manny that I was using conked out and I had to focus manually the entire time. Yikes! Was so glad I could do it quickly but it certainly was a learning experience for me. All in all it was a great trip. Aloha and Manny are so talented as well as down to earth that learning from them was such a pleasure. bangkokmannyl.jpg_pgc2758.JPG_pgc2760.JPGmanny.jpg manny11.jpg  manny12.jpg  _pgc2608.JPG  manny1.jpg  manny13.jpg manny7.jpg  manny15.jpg manny10.jpg  manny9.jpg manny8.jpg
