Inspirations of Heart & Home by Nena Vargas Tantoco

By | Proud to be Pinoy!, Shopping | One Comment

One of my favorite booths in Balik Bukid!

By my Tita Nena! She is very very detailed and everything she does is always presented so well

inspiration-of-heart-home-by-nena-vargas-tantoco-19.JPG

Her household staff who helped man the booth that day. All in matching aprons

Tita Nena turns something ordinary into something special by adding her little touches and her nice packaging

inspiration-of-heart-home-by-nena-vargas-tantoco-3.JPG

And since she is very religious, she sells many religious items

We got one of these for Christmas and is now in our altar 🙂

My gosh, look how she made a simple walis into this!

 inspiration-of-heart-home-by-nena-vargas-tantoco-17.JPG

Plus she helps local Craftsmen

inspiration-of-heart-home-by-nena-vargas-tantoco-18.JPG

She even has handicrafts and furnitures made by the Mountain people of La Union.  She told me she does this to help them and that they are very creative

Salt from Dasol

By | Foodie, Great Ideas, Proud to be Pinoy! | No Comments

Thank you Jay and Carmen for the christmas gift of Salt 🙂 We always receive unique gifts from Jay and Carmen.  They obviously take the effort to make something special – the packaging, sharing some information on the salts.  And Heart2Heart likes it because it supports our very own Philippine products

Clover Finger

By | Proud to be Pinoy!, Yummy! | 3 Comments

This post is dedicated to my friends, Douglas and Bobby Wong.  Many years ago I remember I asked them to develop a version of  clover chips with more cheese flavor ( double or triple), I told them I am sure people will be willing to pay for that extra cheesiness.  They didn’t listen to the cheese expert! haha!! They said it would be too expensive.

So I tried again, I asked them if I could buy their cheese powder flavoring so i can add it to my clover chips!  They didn’t listen to me again! haha 🙂

Heart2Heart loves loves clover chips since I was a kid and until now.  I am so glad I had clover chips in stock when I saw this commercial on youtube!

WARNING:  MAKE SURE YOU HAVE CLOVER CHIPS SOMEWHERE NEARBY BEFORE WATCHING THIS VIDEO 🙂

The Philippine Contemporary To Scale the Past and the Possible

By | Arts and Culture, Proud to be Pinoy! | No Comments

Heart2Heart is so happy to be part of this very very exciting initiative by the Board of Trustees of the Metropolitan Museum!!  Please take time out to listen to Tita Doris Magsaysay-Ho, Tina Colayco and Patrick Flores explain their plans for the Metropolitan Museum and the exhibit that opens today, February 8, Friday.  Everyone is invited to come to the museum.  If you have field trips or educational tours that you want organized, please contact the museum and they will take care of you

Paulino Que’s exhibit of 25 works – this will only be for a month, so do pass by!  Thank you Paulino Que for sharing with us you beautiful works.  The MET is actually encouraging more collectors to exhibit and share their collections so more people can appreciate beautiful Filipino art

the-philippine-contemporary-024.jpgthe-philippine-contemporary-025.jpgthe-philippine-contemporary-028.jpg

Patrick took us around the museum and it’s a beautiful exhibit!! It will be a permanent exhibit with 2 areas changing.  The pieces are also on loan for a year or two from the owners and may change as well as time goes by

the-philippine-contemporary-031.jpg

Interesting work of Art – painting of tombstones of dead artists – like Andy Warhol.  There is a drape and everyone is invited to lift it and see behind

the-philippine-contemporary-033.jpg

We are not allowed to take photos inside the museum but I could not help it – I just had to take this installation that looked like cockroaches 🙂

the-philippine-contemporary-027.jpgthe-philippine-contemporary-034.jpg

A gala night was held to raise funds for this new initiative of the museum.  Thank you very much to all the sponsors for supporting Philippine Art!
