THE 2010 INTERNATIONAL BAZAAR

 dfa-bazaarpic-2.JPG

The International Bazaar goes Green on its 44th year! This fun and much anticipated event, will be held on a Sunday, November 21, 2010, from 9AM—7PM, at the PICC Forum, CCP Complex in Pasay City. This bazaar is headed by its chairperson, Mrs. Rosie Lovely Romulo, wife of DFA Secretary Alberto Romulo, in cooperation with the Spouses of the Heads of Missions (SHOM) and members of the consular corps in the Philippines.

As a shopping destination, it is definitely paradise what with the diplomatic and consular missions in the Philippines, government agencies, and local entrepreneurs selling choice merchandise that one cannot usually find in our country on a regular basis. But the heart of its success is the major support that it gives to the charities of the International Bazaar Foundation. Such charities include the Philippine Christian Foundation, Handicap International Philippines, the Rizal Medical Center, and the Association for the Rights of Children in Southeast Asia, among others.

This year, the International Bazaar Foundation has also decided to support the very important global thrust of preserving the earth, and so therefore will ONLY be utilizing reusable, eco-friendly shopping totes instead of plastic ones, as part of their commitment to environmentally-conscious and responsible shopping. These Fashionably designed non-plastic totes will be made available for sale at the event for those that want to purchase one, but the IBF also encourages the many thousands of people that attend this event to bring their own.

Aside from the multitudes of the finest products from around the world, there will also be special raffle prizes awarded to lucky winners. Because of this, the 44th International Bazaar will surely be the best one yet. Spread the word and see you there!

Tickets to the International Bazaar (P100) can be bought at the following places:

IBF office: 6th Floor, 2330 Department of Foreign Affairs Building, Roxas Blvd, Pasay City. Telephone Number: (02)833-13-20

Charity Within a Charity

By | Christmas, Design, Giving Back, Shopping | One Comment

Heart2Heart is so happy to see the world overflowing with many ANGELS doing many good deeds all over the place!

I was so happy when my friend, Weng Domingo, contacted me and wanted to tell me about her latest project.  I asked her what she has been doing recently and she told me she has been busy doing social work… I told her that her husband, Greg, is so lucky to have a perfect first lady to help him with his work

img_8477_2.JPG

After talking over merienda, Weng invited me to join their meeting and of course I was honored and gladly joined .  They were all so nice and warm in making me feel so important and part of their team.  I actually had fun and enjoyed listening to Rachy and all their plans and I am looking forward to the event.  I hope you can all support their event and help the livelihood programs that will be joining and selling their products

Charity within a Charity

by Weng Domingo

img_8462.JPG

Pasko Pasko Pasko, ON OCTOBER 24, SUNDAY9AM TO 9PM AT THE ROCKWELL TENT, is not your usual bazaar! It is an extraordinary fair where one ultimately experiences a charity within a charity capturing the true spirit of Christmas. A truly feel-good bazaar!

img_7968.jpg

For one, it unfolds a “love is blind” concept where shoppers actually have an opportunity to buy a gift for someone they have not met————a cancer patient or a family from a Gawad Kalinga (GK) village. Upon purchase of a gift, the shopper brings home a card revealing his/her generous gesture. And such card in turn could be given to their friend as a present.

Even the mere buying of goods from its livelihood vendors is charity in itself. Buy a parol and feed a family.

This whole affair has also given the booths for free to its vendors to expose their existence to our community.

Meeting the people behind the scene would touch one’s heart. They continue to give their valuable time with much enthusiasm expecting nothing in return. These unsung heroes are: Usec. Merle Cruz, Dir. Myrna Sunico, Marivic Bonoan, Fe Bulao, Gerry Ravelas, Vic Vargas, Honey vergara, Marivic Pineda, Divine Duran, Aycee Ursua, Pinky Poe and Cecile Manheimer.

img_8481.JPG

Rachy Cuna, a prominent florist/stylist, will create the aura of the bazaar as well as screening the exhibitors’ products. Weng Domingo acts as a mortar collaborating GK’s GKonomics with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

img_8481_2.JPG

This project is the seed planted for the partnership of GK and DTI. Another mission of this bazaar is to showcase the Design Center of DTI so as to communicate what they can do for you.

As Dona Karan said. “If every person inspires the person next to them to take action, things will CHANGE.”img_7970.JPG

MOROSO Celebrates Premier Furniture and Fashion with Rajo Laurel’s SCI-FI Africa Collection

By | Homes and Interiors, Shopping | 4 Comments

  moroso01aa.jpgmoroso02.jpgmoroso-photo-42.jpg

The beautiful world of fashion and furniture greeted guests and select media as luxury Italian furniture manufacturer Moroso recently showcased a number of its distinctive pieces and presented a preview of acclaimed designer Rajo Laurel’s 2010 Fall Collection Sci-Fi Africa at its showroom in Ortigas Center.

morosorajo1.jpgmorosophoto-13.jpg

Joseph and Stephanie Coyiuto-Tay, the couple who brought Moroso to the Philippines, opened the glamorous event, conveying their enthusiasm for the stylish partnership.

moroso-photo-45.jpg

“We are truly happy and excited to be partnering with Rajo for this particular collection, which we feel complements Moroso’s pieces.” Moroso is one of the great brands of premium Italian furniture, founded in 1952 by Agostino and Diana Moroso. It has a wide roster of pieces and designers, regularly coming up with internationally acclaimed products. Moroso has a good mix of the more traditional and modern pieces, and the label has introduced various designers who boldly play with color and form. Moroso’s signature color pieces create small examples of art that one can actually live with and bring life to one’s home. Today, Moroso furnishes beautiful homes in cosmopolitan Asian cities such as Singapore, Taipei, Hong Kong, and Beijing.

moroso-photo-3.jpgmoroso-photo-34.jpgmoroso-photo-35.jpgmoroso-photo-37.jpgmoroso-photo-38.jpg

In Manila, Moroso has been received just as warmly, to the delight of Joseph and Stephanie. “People tend to invest in furniture that is the centerpiece of their home and can be appreciated by guests, so they usually prioritize pieces for their living room and dining room,” says Stephanie of what local buyers are looking for. There has also being a growing awareness and appreciation of high-quality fine furniture. A visit to the Salone Internationale del Mobile, the biggest international furniture trade fair in Milan, Italy, proved a pivotal point for the couple whose careers revolved purely around business. Sold on the idea of bringing Moroso to these shores, they consulted at first with leading architects and interior designers about the potential of such furniture in Manila.

Among the finest samples of Italian designer furniture on display were Ron Arad’s sculpturally inspired sofas Victoria and Albert and Do-lo-rez; Tord Boontje’s Shadowy, a play on twenties beach furniture forms and woven African patterns; and from world-renowned designer Patricia Urquiola, comfortably elegant Field sofas with down-filled cushions, and the exquisite Italian leather chaise lounge Bohemian. All throughout the evening, ‘curators’ were present to entertain guests and answer their queries about Moroso’s beautiful pieces. Guests with fully-furnished homes were still delighted at the unique accent pieces Moroso had to offer. Food catered by Cibo was delicious as always and tailored to match names of iconic Moroso pieces.

 moroso-photo-2.jpgmoroso-photo-7.jpgmoroso-photo-8.jpgmoroso-photo-54.jpgmoroso-photo-10.jpgmoroso-photo-36.jpgmoroso-photo-17.jpgmoroso-photo-20.jpgmoroso-photo-23.jpgmoroso-photo-28.jpgmoroso-photo-30.jpgmoroso-photo-16.jpgmoroso-photo-22.jpgmoroso-photo-40.jpgmoroso-photo-51.jpgmoroso-photo-46.jpg

The highlight of the event was a fashion show featuring Rajo’s new collection, the philosophy of which can be surmised in one word — paradox. According to the designer, “I wanted to create a collection that would combine opposite forces, yet result in something that is both cohesive and sublime.” The show was followed by the presentation of Rajo’s muses for the collection—Tessa Prieto-Valdes, Mandy dela Rama-Santos, Clavel Bendana, Elisa Lim, Divine Lee, Mia Borromeo, Salome Uy and Linabelle Villarica.

 moroso-photo-1.jpgmoroso-photo-32.jpg

Joseph, all smiles from the event’s success, mentions, “We have a lot more in store for our buyers and patrons in the next few months. We are soon bringing in more classical pieces to offer more choices for those whose tastes tend towards the more conservative. But even the most conservative piece of Moroso will have a flair and personality to it.”

The Moroso showroom is located at Ground floor, AIC Burgundy-Empire Tower, ADB Avenue corner Garnet Road, Ortigas Center. Tel: 4706250, 4701089

The Collective

By | Great Ideas, Shopping | 6 Comments

Heart2Heart recently visited this new place and loves it!!! I think many of you will too.  It was formerly a warehouse which they converted into sort of a mall type of operations

the-collective-1.jpg

I bumped into the owners there!!! Tito Raffy and Tita Juvy!

img_5959.jpg

With the help of their daughter Cheska and her friends, they conceptualized this place.  It’s a place with very unique, ” artsy”, and quaint restaurants and stores!! Reminds me of the type of stores you would see in Soho or Tai Kang Lu in Shanghai ( Tai Kang Lu April 22, 2010 )!

the-collective-3.jpg

Of course my first stop is in our friend’s place – Paolo and Trina’s HAPPY PALACE!  Love the name 🙂  They serve Mongolian BBQ and dimsum!  Each child of Tito Raffy and Tita Juvy has a space and each of them have their own concepts

the-collective-5.jpg

Then Jaco and Kathy have their store too which is tops and Kathy’s line of Bella. As usual, i bought one of each cologne!

 the-collective-11.jpgthe-collective-12.jpgthe-collective-13.jpg

Then here is Cheska with her store called Skizo with many fun costumes and props to dress yourself up 🙂

img_5997.JPGthe-collective-14.jpgimg_6003.JPGthe-collective-15.jpg

Then there are other shops

the-collective-4.jpg

One of Heart2Heart’s favorite stores in the place!!

the-collective-7.jpgthe-collective-6.jpgimg_5961.JPGimg_5965.jpgimg_5971.jpg
