Crimson Resort was originally built as a clubhouse for the residents of the housing development of Filinvest.  In fact when you enter, the first thing you will pass will be the residential subdivision which is already sold out and then you go further to the resort.  The Gotianun family always come here to stay which probably is one of the reasons it is kept in good running condition

BORACAY Island, Philippines – July 6, 2012  DISCOVERY SHORES BORACAY, once again took the top spot as Number 1   Hotel Spa in Asia in Travel + Leisure’s (T+L) coveted 17th annual World’s Best Awards compendium of the best hotels, destinations, and travel companies in the world (Source: http://www.travelandleisure.com/articles/worlds-best-hotels/6).

Travel + Leisure’s features director, Nilou Motamed, announced winners of the 2012 World’s Best Awards survey on the “Today” daily American morning television show that airs on NBC.    The resort also ranked Number 5 on the list of Top 100 Hotels in the world and Number 2 among the Top Resorts in Asia.

Discovery Shores has been consistently in the T+L World’s Best Awards list of Top Resorts in Asia for three years now, each year ranking higher in the readers’ survey.  “This is an affirmation of our unwavering commitment to giving our guests unmatched service standards complemented by our dedicated staff and our world-class facilities,“ said Jose C Parreño, Jr., chief operating officer of The Discovery Leisure Company Inc (TDLCI) and concurrent general manager of Discovery Shores Boracay.

For 17 years running, T+L readers have been asked to vote on the hotels, destinations and travel companies they love the most in the annual World’s Best Awards survey.  This year’s results showcase the hotels and destinations that are important now.  “Even after 17 years, the opportunity to see what travel experiences resonate with our readers still intrigues and delights me. While some passions change over time, the allure of the exotic and the new remains as strong as ever, as does the attraction to trips that provide distinctive and long-lasting memories,” Travel + Leisure editor-in-chief Nancy Novogrod said in a press statement.

Travel + Leisure’s website describes Discovery Shores: “Barefoot elegance is the prevailing vibe on this tiny island, where the 2 1/2-mile stretch known as White Beach is often singled out for having the softest sand in the world. The 88 spacious suites feature large glass walls that look towards a scenic rock garden, but chances are you’ll spend more time by the water. Take a dip in the infinity pool, or Jet Ski on the crystalline sea. For people-watching, head to the Sandbar, where they stir up delicious mojitos, infused with local flavors like lychee and mango…Room to Book: Suites #318 and #330 have outdoor Jacuzzis, loft bedrooms, and views of the entire resort. Insider Tip: Chefs at Indigo restaurant can prepare a customized, multi-course degustation menu—just make sure you give them 24-hours’ notice.” (Link: http://www.travelandleisure.com/travel-guide/boracay/hotels/discovery-shores-boracay-boracay)

I attended this talk by Peter Allison organized by A to A Safaris

Everyone here has either been to a safari like Jay Lopez and Tito Manny and Tita Ina Dizon….

peter-allison-01.jpgpeter-allison-010.jpg

…..or has been to a safari and wants to go again on another adventure like Tessa Valdes and Malou Gamboa, and Chie Gatchalian and her husband

or maybe some just dreaming to go to one one day, that’s me 🙂  maybe with my bestfriend Eds or with Steve and Cherina 🙂

peter-allison-023.jpgpeter-allison-024.jpg

And here is Peter Allison!  I actually find him cute 🙂 When he starts to talk he reminds me of Crocodile Dundee.  He told me that he lives in Cape Town behind the mountains with 4 horses and he just jumps on one when he wants to go somewhere 🙂  He goes around the mountain to get to work which is around 20 minutes away

peter-allison-07.jpgpeter-allison-011.jpgpeter-allison-014.jpgpeter-allison-012.jpg

I love this slide which I saw in the last presentation of A to A

peter-allison-013.jpgpeter-allison-015.jpg

Peter’s talk was not the usual sales or marketing talk, but he showed us photos from his safari adventures!  It was very interesting because he knows about animal behavior.  We probably will not be able to tell what animals are doing when we take their photos, but Peter knows and has a story behind every photo he takes

peter-allison-016.jpgpeter-allison-017.jpgpeter-allison-018.jpgpeter-allison-019.jpgpeter-allison-021.jpg

One day, I am going to take my own photos and tell my own African Safari story….. one day! 🙂 and who knows, maybe Peter Allison will be my safari guide!  Woohoo!

Peter is also a famous author

The discerning Filipino’s ultimate food source, Rustan’s Supermarketis taking its shoppers on yet another gastronomic journey—this time around the streets of Asia—with its anticipated Asian Street Food Invasion, running from July 1 to August 15 in all Rustan’s Supermarket Fresh branches.

In the tradition of the supermarket’s highly-successful food festival series over the years, Asian Street Food Invasion zooms in on the products and ingredients that make up the colorful street food offerings of Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia, thus bringing shoppers a multi-sensorial feast of flavors that allows them to experience an important part of such distinct cultures and lifestyles.

Savor the uniqueness of Vietnamese street food, which completes the cultural experience of anyone longing for a taste of this featured country. Complete a virtual stroll along the streets of Vietnam, which are dotted with vendors and small cafes that specialize in a type of food or beverage; be it the famous Pho (traditional noodle soup and a staple in the Vietnamese diet), chilled young coconut milk, or Bun Cha (barbecued pork marinated in chili ginger and garlic), among many others.

Indulge in tasty Thai street cuisine and get to know this country’s one-of-a-kind culinary lifestyle, with its distinct bevy of food stalls transforming every major street corner, empty alley and lot into vibrant food bazaars. Recreate the dishes that made this country so popular from the comfort of your own home, such as Pad Thai (fried noodles with dried shrimp and tofu) and signature Thai curries.

Discover the crossroads of global cuisine with Singaporean street food, with this country serving as a melting pot of people from many nations. Unique to this food culture are its local hawker centers, which serve a mixture of Malay, Indian and Chinese specialties; and where the act of choosing the right food vendor to buy from is an art to be mastered.

Lastly, get to know Malaysian street fare a bit more, which similarly presents an eclectic mix of Malay, Chinese and Indian influences but is made truly its own by the culture that envelopes it: fiercely competitive vendors trying to earn your attention (and visit), an endless stretch of satay and fruit stalls and open air restaurants, and rickety (yet fully-occupied) plastic tables spilling out onto the streets.
