The Inn at Cliffhouse, Tagaytay

By | Foodie, Travel | 2 Comments

After the wedding in Tagaytay Midlands, Dad and Mom had a great idea to check in somewhere nearby rather than go home in the dark.  We stayed at this place which Mom heard about from Tito Rico and Tita Nena and Hindy who have stayed here before.   It was a great excuse to stop by and stay the night!

La Mar, SF

Jimmy being an adventurous type of guy, took us to a Peruvian restaurant.  We have never been to one so it was a great experience.   It was in a beautiful location by the bay

img_3990.JPGimg_3991.jpgimg_3992.JPGimg_4038.JPGimg_3995.jpgimg_3996.jpgimg_4000.jpgimg_4002.jpgimg_4003.JPGimg_4004.JPGimg_4005.JPGimg_3997.JPGimg_3998.JPGimg_4006.JPGimg_4007.JPGimg_4008.JPGimg_4012.JPGimg_4009.JPGimg_4011.JPGimg_4013.JPGimg_4036.JPG

Loved their vegetable chips with dip

img_4023.JPGimg_4014.jpg

Cebiche tasting – I like how Jimmy eats, he always orders the tasting dishes so we get to try many – so we shared the appetizers

img_4025.JPGimg_4029.JPG

We also liked the peruvian rollitos!! Again we got the tasting dish

Xiao Long Bao Kitchen, South SF

By | Foodie, Travel | No Comments

How could we not eat here?? XIAO LONG BAO!!!  We saw it because we went to Starbucks.  The nice thing about going to small towns is that it is so easy to park- we had a parking space right in front of the restaurant 🙂  Maybe not as good as Din Tai Fung but it was okay, so if you are in area ( South San Francisco ) , stop by for some Xiao long bao

Rene Wigen Schnauzer Breeder

By | Animals and Pets, Travel | One Comment

From Corte Madera, we drove down further to Woodland, California to visit a Schnauzer breeder, Rene Wigen.  Javier is obsessed with wanting to have a Schnauzer, a BLACK one to be specific.  So, our brother, John, introduced us to this breeder who specializes in black Schnauzers.

We went to her house, a very nice and cozy house and she had a flag outside her house so we could not miss it

img_4106.jpg

All her dogs are Champion dogs

img_4124.jpgimg_4143.jpg

When we arrived, there were 5 dogs all excited and barking and running all over to meet us!  We were a bit scared and overwhelmed, but they were all very friendly and happy dogs.

img_4108.JPGimg_4121.JPG

It was obvious that Rene really takes good care of them and they all love her

img_4125.jpgimg_4136.JPG

This is the pregnant mom

img_4140.JPG

And just to show you how they treat their dogs, they even take ultra sound tests!!!

img_4122.jpg

The reason this dog is not black is because she is a RESCUE DOG.  Rene told us she saw her in the window of a pet store and she could not leave her there so she bought her and took her in.  She is a bit smaller than the normal mini Schnauzer but very good natured and very lovable

img_4134.JPG

She has so many Schanuzer decorations around her house 🙂

img_4135.JPGimg_4144.jpg

and a nice garden for the dogs to play in

Meeting Bryan Flannery

By | Foodie, Jaric Marketing Inc, Steaks, Travel | One Comment

The road trip continues.  Of course we had to fly first from New York to get to San Francisco 🙂 We stayed in the city but found ourselves going out of the city most of the time. We drove around 2 hours from the city to get to Corte Madera to meet the great guy behind the wonderful steaks that James has been bringing in.

We only met Bryan by phone and through his website

home_page_dad.gif

bryanflanneryhistory.jpg

We saw his shop and was surprised to see that it is a full line gourmet store and that he sells more than just steaks

 img_4039.JPGimg_4040.JPGimg_4044.jpgimg_4042.JPGimg_4045.JPGimg_4046.JPGimg_4043.JPGimg_4048.JPGimg_4047.JPG

and finally we meet the real Bryan Flannery!  He is a superstar to us and we are honored to meet him! Just like any good and well run business, it is important that the owner is there and is hands on.  One of the nicest things about doing business is meeting the people behind the company.  Learning about them, how they grew their business and how passionate they are.

img_4083.jpg

He took us to what he calls his “Playroom”

 img_4067.jpg

Wow!!  This is where he dry ages his beef.

img_4056.JPGimg_4058.jpgimg_4066.JPGimg_4057.jpgimg_4060.jpgimg_4061.JPGimg_4070.jpgimg_4071.jpgimg_4072.jpgimg_4073.JPG

Most of the steaks are already sold and reserved for clients!  It’s a good thing we have some allocation for the Philippines 🙂

img_4076.JPG

Even Javier was amazed!! “Bryan Flannery is the coolest guy I have ever met!”

img_4074.JPGimg_4069.JPG

Javier enjoyed his visit and he could not resist to ask Bryan for some brownies from the shop which were really really good we fought over them in the car!

img_4102.jpg

More to take home from Bryan- Pork rib cap

img_4103.jpg

My request 🙂

Our main reason for going to the city was to see our good friend Jerome.  Jerome took us to the new Trump Soho hotel and we had a lovely dinner…as expected
