Quincy Market, Faneuil Hall Market

By | Foodie, Travel | No Comments

I went inside Quincy market and wow!! It is one long building with all food stalls!  There were so many people because it was lunch time!! So I was squeezing through everyone and trying to take photos of the food!  How hard! There is a sitting area in the middle of the building – of course not enough to sit everyone going there to grab a bite!

Faneuil Hall Marketplace, Boston

By | Shopping, Travel | One Comment

Just when we thought we had the whole city of Boston to ourselves, when we went to Faneuil Hall Marketplace, the place was crowded and full of people! It was a nice and warm day in Boston which the Americans loved while we were hiding away from the sun 🙂

We of course always make time to eat and try the city’s specialties…I read about this in the Trip Advisor website and it had good ratings….It was in one of the main streets, Boylston, which is parallel to Newbury street. It was a saturday and a 4th of July weekend and it seemed like everyone was out of the city going to Cape Cod and Nantucket.  So we had the whole city to ourselves 🙂  It was easy to park so we parked right in front of the restaurant

Javier wanted to order beef ravioli, instead I convinced him to get a seafood one since we were in Boston and so he got the Lobster ravioli and he loved it

Boston, Massachusetts

By | Travel | 5 Comments

For so many years, I have been wanting to visit Boston since I have heard many nice things about the city.  Finally, we had the opportunity to pass by…And I love it!  A city with many beautiful and historical buildings

boston-massachussetts-1.jpg

It is small, but there is so much history!  The oldest this, the oldest that…It’s a pity we spent only a day in the city so we just drove around and tried to absorb as much as we can but there are many many historical sights to see

Taxi Driver Creativity

By | Arts and Culture, Great Inventions, Travel | 2 Comments

We only rode a taxi once and we fortunately bumped into a very interesting taxi driver….

img_1875.jpg

I saw these dancing soda cans in his taxi and I showed it to my son….and the taxi driver told us that he made them!  We were amazed!  He said that he does it during his spare time in the taxi since he spends most of his time inside the car.

img_1874.jpgimg_1876.JPG

Then he showed us in his cellphone all his other works!!!  I told him to give me his email address so I can show him my website, but he said he does not have email and does not have time because he gets home so late from work already since he has to earn a living in his cab.  I told him to make more dancing soda cans and sell them!!! 🙂

Environmental Levy Scheme on Plastic Shopping Bags ( HK )

By | Green, Travel | 6 Comments

We all know about the dangers of plastic bags

Previous Entry:  The Dangers of Plastic Bags August 6, 2008

I was shopping in Watsons and the cashier asked me if I had a bag- and since I did not bring any with me on the trip – I just said I did not have one- then I saw my bill go up by a few cents!

I WAS SO HAPPY!  For once in my life, I was happy they were charging me for a plastic bag!  After that, I never asked for a plastic bag anymore 🙂 I think it is a good way to reinforce the need for us to use recyclable bags and not use plastic anymore….I hope our country follows suit

Pinoys in Queensway Bridge, HK

By | Travel | 2 Comments

It was a Sunday and we were crossing Queensway Bridge to go to our restaurant for dinner……

img_1568.JPG

and we saw this… In Hong Kong, Sunday is the day when the domestic workers are given a day off

img_1563.JPG

At first i could not believe it….then I had mixed feelings- first ashamed… they built their own picnic grounds using cardboard boxes, some removed their shoes and put up their feet, and they had food which they brought with them and you could smell different kinds of smell from the food….then later on I felt pity….but then again I looked at them and they seemed to be having a good time.  I regret not talking to any of them and asking them….

Could this be the reason why others look down on us Filipinos? Could this be the reason there are no chairs/couches in the malls to avoid circumstances like this?  Why isn’t anyone doing anything about it?
