Touring Shanghai

Aside from all the eating 🙂 and all those places we went to, we visited also the tallest building in China, The Shanghai World Financial Center, which is 101 storeys high!  The Park Hyatt Hotel occupies the 79th to the 93rd floor of the building.  It was foggy that day and drizzling so when we went up, we could not see anything, but it was so scary!

The next tallest building right across the street- sorry the photo is sideways I had to really bend down to be able to take it

It was Back Saturday and we asked out tour guide to bring us to church…and wow, he took us to this beautiful Cathedral, though it was under restoration

This is how it should really look

Of course the beautiful BUND street which reminds me so much of Europe

And Wow!  I just had to capture this while riding the car.  I wonder if it will be the whole building 🙂

The Kitchen Salvatore Cuomo

It was nice to take a break from all the Chinese food and have some Italian! The location was so nice – it was by the river and then on the other side is the cityscape.  There are other restaurants on this street but this was recommended to us by Tito Robbie and Tita Helen

The kitchen is open without any glass walls

They had the business lunch set and I was the only one who had it and I thought the price was reasonable considering everything it came with compared to the ala carte wherein one dish was almost equivalent to the whole business meal.

p1180263.JPG

I got the Rosmarino.  You have to choose one from the selection.  I cannot finish really the whole meal, it’s a good thing everyone helps 🙂

Everyone else ordered ala carte….

Yuyuan Market, Shanghai

A definite stop for us!  It was raining the day we went so it was quite difficult to go around so we only stayed a few hours and ended up staying inside Starbucks.  So, not much photos as well.  But it is a nice market because it is clean.  Just make sure you bargain even more than 50% off!  Try your luck and you might get it at the price you asked for!

The famous Xiao Long Bao stall in the market.  The lines are always so long.  We have been to Shanghai twice and we have never attempted to line up because the line is just too long…

8 On the Bund

After dinner, we walked down the Bund and  stopped over this building because it started to rain.  And Wow! What a beautiful lobby.  They are so “artsy” in Shanghai! The lobby had all these birdcages with different interpretations

Whampoa Club at 3 On the Bund

By | Foodie, Travel | No Comments

We enjoyed our dinner at Wuampoa Club which was recommended by Tito Robbie and Tita Helen at 3 on the Bund.

My dream is to have one of their degustation meals.  I love small portions and having a little of everything at a reasonable pace so you can enjoy the ambience, the conversation, the company and the food of course.

dsc_1303.JPGwhampoaclubweb.jpg

dsc_1232.jpgdsc_1234.jpgdsc_1255.JPGdsc_1287.JPGdsc_1235.JPGdsc_1236.JPGdsc_1238.JPGdsc_1285.JPGdsc_1282.jpgdsc_1239.JPGdsc_1240.JPG

We ordered ala carte.  I noticed in China, they don’t have portion sizes in the menu and the dishes come in small portions.  Not like in the Philippines where they have sizes that can feed a whole table.

This trip, I made sure i ordered something that we do not always order- I made it a point to order a different dish everytime we ate out rather than having always the usual Chinese dishes we order.  This was mine 🙂

dsc_1243.JPGdsc_1266.JPGdsc_1244.JPGdsc_1274.JPGdsc_1273.JPGdsc_1245.JPGdsc_1256.JPG

and I also chose this prawn dish.  I normally like ordering the prawn salad which has mayonnaise on it, this one was a wasabi  dressing which was a much better alternative. Miam Miam!

In the same building……
