Zed by Cirque Du Soleil

By | Entertainment, Travel | 4 Comments

For New Year’s Day, Dad and Mom took us to watch ZED.  Mom heard from Tita Maricris that they were watching, so she got the idea from them and followed 🙂  We saw Rombit and Maja with their kids as well.   The theater is located near Disneyland so it fits in very well.

This is the only photo I was able to take- as soon as I shot this, a clown approached me and told me that it was not allowed.  HOW FAST!  🙂

The best part for me was the beginning when those drapes all go inside! Watch it here

Mos Burger

By | Foodie, Travel | 4 Comments

Mostly all restaurants are closed in Tokyo on New Year’s Day.  It’s a good thing Mom found a Mos burger near the hotel that was opened!!  Mos burger is what Sango (Sango at Power Plant Mall November 13, 2009 ) is in the Philippines.  We normally order the yakiniku burger,

p1150210.JPGp1150220.JPG

but this time, I tried their burger which is the master burger in Sango.

p1150216.JPG

Heart2Heart has to admit that the Sango Master Cheeseburger is even more YUMMY than the Mos one.

But anyway, the family enjoyed spending New Year’s at Mos burger

Japanese Fresh Strawberries

By | Travel, Yummy! | 4 Comments

Heart2Heart loves strawberries!!! The Japanese make them so perfectly – they are so clean and shaped perfectly that sometimes you wonder if they are really fresh 🙂  Mom insists that there is a big difference in taste as the price goes higher 🙂 unlike buying the musk melon. Hmmm….

Rosetta

By | Foodie, Travel | No Comments

Rosetta was recommended to us by our family friends, Mercy and Bob, who lived in Japan for a few years.  It was a bit hard to find as it is in the residential area.  A house converted into a restaurant….very nice and cozy and a perfect place to have a special dinner.  We all enjoyed our dinner.

p1130931.jpgp1130930.jpgp1130996.JPGp1130941.JPGp1130934.JPGp1130965.JPG

There were 3 set menus to select from.  Since we were a group of 9, we were able to try all amongst all of us.  Heart2Heart really prefers sit down dinners where the food is served to you one by one and in small portions.  That way everyone is seated and can talk and eat properly

This was a favorite- the Kobe beef sashimi

Pasta was really good

Tsukiji Market Breakfast

By | Foodie, Travel | 5 Comments

This trip, we went to Tsukiji market ( Tsukiji Market January 17, 2009 )early in the morning.

p1130582.JPGp1130583.JPG

Be careful of these guys going around in these motorized things!  They just come out and move so fast

p1130584.JPG

People lining up for the restaurants

p1130587.JPGp1130588.JPG

Finally we get a seat!  The restaurants are so small so it can only fit around 10 to 12 – so we got in as customers finished until we finally filled up the place

p1130610.JPG

You can never get prices this cheap in regular japanese restaurants…

p1130640.JPGp1130639.JPGp1130638.JPGp1130637.JPG

The chef lays a leaf in front of you where he will put all your orders

p1130632.JPGp1130609.JPG

This was the most popular order of the family –  Around US$7.00 for a piece of Otoro. Mom says that is already cheap and you cannot get it at that price anywhere else.  So you can imagine how the family just ordered it!! 🙂

p1130641.JPGp1130598.jpgp1130615.JPGp1130633.JPGp1130631.JPG

Heart2Heart is not really a sashimi eater so I ate the safe one which was cooked – the unagi 🙂  YUMMY!

p1130634.JPGp1130622.jpgp1130623.JPG

I am happy my sons are adventurous and eat sushi and sashimi 🙂

Dad and Mom took us to this restaurant where they enjoyed with their friends before in Tokyo

 dsc_6757.jpginakayaaboutus.jpg

An interesting concept.  We came in and we saw this – it was a whole table surrounding these two chefs and there were ingredients in front of us

dsc_6766.JPGdsc_6762.JPGdsc_6763.JPGdsc_6764.JPGdsc_6765.jpgdsc_6804.jpg

in front of the chefs is a griller where they grill everything you order in front of you

dsc_6770.JPGdsc_6777.JPGdsc_6780.JPG

Then you tell the chef what you want – we just pointed to the ingredients.  Then you will hear the chef shout what we ordered and then the other waiters in the background shout it as well!  Hilarious?  🙂

And they cook it and then they serve it to you using this wooden stick

There are photos on the wall with stars that have been to their restaurant

dsc_6800.JPGdsc_6802.JPGdsc_6803.JPG

The food was very good.

We were not given any menu and we got surprised with the bill.  We felt we paid too much for what we had, thugh Dad and Mom said that the Japanese are very honest and honorable people and will not cheat us.  I guess it was our fault for not asking for the menu also.  So, make sure you ask for the menu!

Anyway, I found this in their website:

This was the branch we went to:

M. Noey and Krie also took us to this beautiful mall in the same area.  Unique in a way that you go around the mall using the ramps – there are escalators on the side but basically you use the ramps.  And the music is not the regular music you hear when you enter malls – christmas or pop songs – it was just sounds- when we were there- maybe like water droplet sounds. And wow, the decor was beautiful and elegant! The shops are not the usual shops. Interesting 🙂 Heart2Heart loves unique and out of the ordinary ideas and things!!

Cat Street, Harajuku

By | Shopping, Travel | No Comments

M. Noey and Krie took Mom and I to their “favorite street” in Tokyo.  It is a walking street and with many quaint shops.  There are a few big name brands like Anna Sui, DKNY and Fiorucci but other stores are small and unique shops.

This used to be my favorite store when it opened in Rustan’s many years ago.  I was so happy to see it!
