Heart2Heart was happy to meet five beautiful and very enterprising women behind Cura V. Thank you to Nicole Whisenhunt for introducing me to her store and her partners. I heard they are doing very well in the Powerplant mall! MORE POWER!!
Cura V’s proclivity towards diversity can be attributed to the brand’s guardians – the five remarkable women who not only founded Cura V, but who continuously and tirelessly scour cities to meticulously sift through the fray and discover treasures to add to the store’s collection:
Trisha Calma
An alum of De la Salle – St. Benilde and The New York School of Interior Design, Trisha Calma, together with her husband and fellow designer JJ Calma, have designed and built numerous homes and boutiques in the country. She is co- founder of design and build company Jose Calma Development Corp., and a one-time co- owner of a local lifestyle and furniture store.
Emi Jorge
After more than a decade of passionately designing shoes, Emi, who is known for her display of excellent workmanship and ingenious local creativity, just last year launched in NY an exhibition of clutches and minaudieres. She has then moved on to designing modern artisan handbags and accessories under her own label, all of which are currently sold via shoplatitude.com. Her understated pieces have caught the eye of London’s Couturelab and will soon be made available there as well.
Kai Lim
An alum of University of Asia and the Pacific’s Institute of Political Economy, Kai was once involved with the Institute of Corporate Directors and Children’s Hour foundation. Besides being a modern advocate, Kai has also earned quite a few nods in the fashion scene. She shares her penchant for fashion and design as she delves into retail through Cura V. Today, Kai is wife to her husband, Bryan, and full time mom to her two young kids.
Nicole Whisenhunt
Nicole began her jewelry design career in 2004 and has since then established herself as a permanent force in the local and international scenes, garnering numerous awards and accolades through the years. Her creations have been featured in several international magazines such as Elle, Town & Country, In Style, WWD and more. The Nicole Whisenhunt brand is now carried in New York, Las Vegas, Singapore, S. Korea, Kuala Lumpur, Marbella, and Manila.
Camille Ongpauco
Camille is a successful young entrepreneur and restaurateur. She took the reins at her family business after working under various establishments in the culinary field. Today, in addition to being involved in her family’s restaurant business, Camille manages her own restaurant in Makati as well.
