Louis Comfort Tiffany, a New York painter and glass artist, is considered the most significant representative of American Art Nouveau. The son of Charles Lewis Tiffany, a New York jeweler and owner of Tiffany & Co, became famous for his imaginative Jewelry creations and the iridescent glass compositions. In 1885, he founded accompany of his own, the „Tiffany Studios“. There, Tiffany produced special flat colored glasses and created many mosaics and windows. The world-famous Tiffany luminaires are still highly appreciated to this day. The lamp shades mostly consist of colored, copper-clad glass pieces that have been soldered together in that very special Tiffany technique which made his glass creations world-famous.

OUR HISTORY

The Spanish town of Almansa and the shoe go hand in hand since 1887. We live and feel the pleasure of working to accompany the steps in people’s lives. We think, dream and create footwear generation after generation and in UMBER Shoes we continue the tradition shoemaker since 1922 through the fourth generation of shoemakers from the Aldomar family.

Manuel Aldomar García participated in the industrial transformation of Almansa with the creation in 1922 of Caldas Aldomar and his third generation took part in the second industrialization of the decade of the 50 with the creation of Carlos González Aldomar, S.L. In 1959.

Today, Rafael González, the fourth generation of the family, is responsible for directing the production of our shoes and pouring on them all the knowledge gained.

Our most important goal is that whoever wears our shoes can feel the beauty and style in their feet, as well as the comfort and comfort of our traditionally manufactured products created from experience.

Reaching New Heights: Montblanc brings the Spirit of Mountain Exploration to SIHH
Immersive experience tells the story of the Maison’s professional watch manufacturing legacy and the extraordinary mountain exploits that inspired its new 1858 Collection

During the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie, Montblanc revisits the extraordinary watchmaking heritage of the Minerva Manufacture and its legendary professional watches created for military use and mountain exploration during the 1920s and 1930s. Highly accurate, legible and made to endure the most extreme conditions, these historic watches are the inspiration for Montblanc 1858, the new vintage exploration-inspired timepieces that take centre stage at this year’s annual watch event. The Montblanc booth is a modern interpretation of the collection’s mountaineering theme with natural wood finishes creating a warm modern chalet environment to house the new watches. Stepping into the lounge visitors are transported to an unforgettable mountain adventure. In the newly created social media area, today’s explorers are invited to express their own spirit of adventure inside a mountain expedition photo booth where they can defy gravity as they climb up along a mountain face, their exploit forever immortalized in photography. Virtual reality takes the bravest to new heights, offering them an immersive mountain exploration experience without ever having to leave the comfort of the Montblanc booth.

Reminiscent of the original Minerva chronographs, the vintage design codes of 1858 are evident throughout the Montblanc space from leather furnishings evoking the aged calfskin leather watch straps to brushed bronze surfaces mirroring the bronze of the vintage-inspired watches. The references to mountain exploration throughout the booth underscore the role chronographs and professional watches have played for mountaineers, trusted companions in their relentless pursuit to conquer new heights.

Stepping into the concentric lobby, visitors are transported into the universe of Montblanc1858, surrounded by breath-taking vistas of the Mont Blanc evoking the spirit of mountain exploration. A spherical cage wood structure is home to the new timepieces created for today’s fearless adventurers and the intrepid explorers who set their sights on their goals in their pursuit of new heights. Above the central lobby, the complexity and virtuosity of Montblanc complications is

expressed in the large-scale replica of the innovative Tourbillon suspend movement from the Maison’s Star Legacy that floats in mid-air. In the centre, watchmakers from the Maison’s manufactures are at work, demonstrating the craftsmanship and know-how that goes into the creation of every timepiece.

Covering one of the walls, a timeline charts the major milestones in the history of Minerva, the manufacture founded by Charles-Ivan Robert in 1858 as a manufacturer of pocket watches before gaining international recognition for its precision timepieces and becoming a leading specialist in the fabrication of professional watches and stopwatches. In addition to charting the evolution of classical watchmaking, the timeline highlights key milestones in the spirit of mountain exploration as well as the spirit of racing, and the role Minerva played in each of those. Key milestones include the development of a number of movements equipped with chronograph functions such as the legendary calibre 19.09 in 1909 featuring the recognizable patented V-Chrono shaped bridge, the first manually wound monopusher chronographs specially developed for wristwatches in the 1920s, and the iconic calibre 17.29 from the 1930s, one of the slimmest monopusher chronographs of the time. Along a library wall, the innovative calibres exhibited highlight the Maison’s ability to delve into its rich heritage to push watchmaking excellence to new limits with high performance calibres.

From the base of the mountain to its snowy peaks, the Montblanc experience takes modern-day explorers on a journey to discover new heights of watchmaking, paying tribute to the 160 years of the Minerva Manufacture and its horologic achievements along the way. A total of 148 watches are on display during SIHH including the new pieces from the mountain exploration-inspired 1858 Collection and Star Legacy, a collection inspired by the spirit of classical fine watchmaking.

During the launch of Montblanc 1858 Collection and in keeping with the concept of exploration, different summits were set up: the Mountaineering 101 activity which ignited familiarization on packing for an outdoor adventure, the Paracord Bracelet Making, and the Virtual Reality (VR) station where guests viewed the peak of Mont Blanc.

Bernardaud – In Bloom Collection

The In Bloom Collection by Zemer Peled is the result of an encounter between a talented young artist and exceptional craftsmanship. During her residency at the Manufacture Bernardaud, Zemer Peled spent time observing and understanding the complexity of creating a porcelain piece. It is with great enthusiasm that she became interested in the know how of decoration, alongside an expert who has been working at Bernardaud for more than 30 years. She learned to performa quick, precise gesture and to perfectly control the pressure of her brush to achieve the desired effect: a decor where you feel the gesture and texture. Zemer has succeeded in translating the movement and dynamism of her sculptural work onto Bernardaud porcelain pieces. Her blooming and vibrant flowers seem to spring from plates, cups, saucers and bowls. But as always with the creationg of Zemer Peled, there is more to see… In this collection, the artist plays with depth and perception, a recurring theme in her work.

From afar, the In Bloom Collection shows flowers. However, those who slow down to take a closer look will see the cohesive image dissolve into Peled’s lively brush marks. Therefore, with this collection, the artist invite you to slow down, to look until you truly see, and to savor these moments of commitment.

Zemer Peled was born in Israel in 1983. A graduate of the Royal College of Art in London, her work examines the beauty and brutality of nature. Her works are made up of thousands of pieces of porcelain shards, obtained from strips or slabs of raw or glazed porcelain that she makes and breaks. She then uses these fragments to build sculptures and installations of various sizes, present in many private collections around the world. The artist lives and works in Los Angeles.

Rafe Fall Winter 2018 inspiration

“The night is young, the skies are clear So if you want to go walking, dearIt’s delightful, it’s delicious, it’s de-lovely.”

My fall winter collection was inspired by the city I call home, New York. The Art Deco architecture, the culture mix, the eclectic neighborhoods, the art scene, the music and the energy.

I was listening to Cole Porter’s songs sung by Ella Fitzgerald as I was designing the collection. The lyrics are happy, full of optimism and romance. Whenever I go out to a restaurant, I might catch a glimpse of a woman out on a date and I love observing the flirtation that transpires.  I see how she flips her hair, how she clutches her bag, adjusts her dress and sips her cocktail…it’s fascinating. These are the kinds of moments that inspire me when I think of the woman who might wear my designs.

One my new clutches called the Amanda is festooned with individually threaded tassels creating a multi-tiered fringe that reminds one the flapper dresses from the Jazz Age. Its fun, flirty and it irresistible to caress.

My Sophie camera bag has loops in the back allowing one to wear it as a belt bag as well as a cross body bag. It’s all about options. My Melissa and Vivienne minaudieres have become mainstays in my collection. Their faceted shells allow me a myriad of combinations and the possibilities are endless. This season I’ve introduced them lacquered in jewel tones and complimenting shell inlays.

Take a walk on the wild side with my Kiki minaudieres with a zebra and a leopard inlay design. These beauties are painstakingly applied over a course of several days and are seasonless statement pieces.
