Rustan’s on Ancient Greek Sandals SS17

By | What's New at Rustan's | No Comments

Ancient Greek Sandals are handmade locally by skilled craftsmen using traditional techniques that have existed for centuries. The chemical-free, natural tan leather used, ages beautifully with time and wear. A raw yet feminine aesthetic distinguishes this new sandal brand. The idea was to create a flat sandal, which feels light, nude, soft and sexy. The clean round toe sole is deliberately kept light and almost disappears when worn; hence emphasizing the beautifully detailed and often intricate design of the upper part of each style. The ‘golden wing’ buckle is a trademark of the brand.Rustan's on Ancient Greek Sandals SS17Born and raised in Greece, co-founder and designer, Christina Martini is a BA (Hons) graduate in Footwear Design and Product Development from the prestigious Cordwainers College (2000). Christina previously worked as a shoe designer for Balenciaga (2008-2010), Louis Vuitton and Iris srl. Her business partner and co-founder Nikolas Minoglou, was born in London and raised in Greece. An MBA graduate from Babson College (USA), in 2006 returned to Athens and took over the family’s well established footwear business, before joining forces with Christina.

SOLID UPPERS

This new classic group consists of three new styles that can be worn anytime from beach to bar essentials for every wardrobe. These solid upper sandals are available in vachetta leather, pony or nubuck.

CUT OUTS

Since the first season, cut out details have been Ancient Greek Sandals’ DNA. For pre collection S/S17, four new delicate styles have been introduced which are inspired by ancient Greek ceramic vases in the form of a sandaled foot. From the easy slide Venus, to the more intricate gladiator style Dione, all are available in vachetta, nubuck or metallic crosta.

COLOURS / MATERIALS

New earthy tones such as cappuccino and khaki have been added to the AGS classic colour palette, whereas a more fun fuchsia and a classic raspberry complete the colours of the iconic vachetta leather. Nubuck, which is introduced this season, is available for all styles of the collection in a romantic light pink, khaki and black. Pink and khaki are also available in the popular pony skin. Snake is available in selected colours only: raspberry and black. As a novelty this season, all the natural wooden structures are replaced with a dark chestnut colour. Vibrant hues including red, yellow, pink and green are prominent throughout the collection making a statement as solid block colours, or as accents and decoration.

MASCULINE

A more masculine group has been developed for this season, sandals with large pieces of leather, with straps going through, cover and hold the foot firmly. From slides to mid gladiator, these styles offer a more urban look.

CLASSIC BRAIDS

The success of the Eleftheria sandal with delicate braids led to the creation of two more ‘sister’ styles. Amalia and Yianna are both available in solid classic tones or mixed colours such as platinum with black, natural or silver. The alter ego of these three braided styles are their clean version in flat vachetta in many colours.

JEWELLERY

Five styles of beautifully bejeweled sandals form this new evening group. Antique symbols engraved on metal pieces, spirals and coiled metallic lines give shape to these feminine, sandals where leather is used only when absolutely necessary.

MIXED BRAIDS

In Greek Mythology, Clotho, Atropos and Lachesis are the three Fates who were supposedly the ‘weavers’ of life for all the mortals. The three styles of this group take their names as they consist of woven mixed media straps made out of leather, woolen threads, strings and metallic beads. This bohemian group is available in all black or natural with off white elements.

COLOUR BLOCKING

A new ‘Colour Blocking’ group is introduced this season, mixing three key vachetta tones together to create a bold stripe combination. Metallic tones of silver, gold and pink metal extend this group further, creating a sophisticated finish.

THE BLOCK HEEL

A new construction, this season is ‘the block heel’. This vintage inspired heel takes us back to the Mediterranean holidays of the 70’s Jackie O’ in the island of Scorpios or Maria Callas in Portofino. Four classic styles plus one new moccasin style are available in our trademark vachetta leather or soft nubuck combined with dark wood.

DENIM

Following the success of the denim collection, this has been extended to include a tie-dye denim fabrication and patchwork denim group, which combines both light and dark to create an updated collection. Furthermore, the addition of braided denim styles adds extra diversity to this vast group.

RAFFIA

For the first time, Raffia details have been added to key Ancient Greek Sandals styles. Multicolour or toned blue, woven raffia stripes decorate classic leather or denim styles such as Clio, Thais and Eleftheria, while intricate woven raffia flowers add a more tropical feel to the group.

CLOSED TOE

For the first time Ancient Greek Sandals has developed a closed toe slide, featuring a different shape and construction from the sandals; the slipper group consist of the plain style, Pasoumi available in wide colour palette including denim, and Lysistrata, a slide loafer available in solid colours as well as colourblocking combinations.

Ancient Greek Sandals is exclusively available in Rustan’s Makati.

Sergio Rossi SS17

By | What's New at Rustan's | No Comments

The Sergio Rossi Resort 2017 Collection takes notes from the brand’s DNA and pays tribute to its most iconic and loved pieces, interpreting them in vivid summer shades.

The elegant silhouettes of pointed and rounded pumps shine in vibrant color combinations and the platform sandals find new life in exotic patterns and denim contrasts. The juxtaposition of seasonal colors and materials with classic tones and shapes is perfect for a day-to-night look. The sleek lines and essential details create a timeless balance within the Collection, which stays true to the Maison’s heritage but takes a glimpse into the future. ?

A change of direction to make its identity strong, authoritative and powerful once again.
Sergio Rossi makes a fresh start with a completely new management team, seeking to return its identity to its former glory and place the emphasis back on the brand’s quality, craftsmanship and authenticity.

The first step concerns the product: the company plans to shift from evening wear to a bright, modern and versatile idea of daywear. The focus of the creative process will no longer be on fashion trends, but rather on the longevity of footwear. Little by little, the company will flesh out an ideal collection for each season, breaking free of convention to create elegant, practical and light footwear—an eclectic classic that transcends age, use or function.Sergio Rossi SS17 (2)Sergio Rossi SS17 (3)The company will continue fostering the craftsmanship culture at the facility in San Mauro Pascoli, where 110 craft professionals pass on their expertise through the generations. The creative team has started a new relationship with them based on savoir-faire, so as to study and bring Sergio Rossi’s invaluable historical archive into the present.

After the presentation of the Spring/Summer 2017 collection, the Company will extend the new strategy to the international retail network (both mono brand and wholesale channels) by introducing a new communication and distribution project to restore the credibility and relevance of Sergio Rossi’s legacy and tradition.

The digital aspect will be the red thread that weaves Sergio Rossi’s new deal together—from the design and creation of collections to their presentation and viral marketing through social media. The creative, productive and distribution process will take place both online and offline thanks to a young, fast and versatile team open and receptive to constant change.

Sergio Rossi makes a fresh start and goes back to the most authentic aesthetics of the brand: providing interesting, portable and contemporary footwear—versatile creations that eschew trends and embody the elegance, needs and passions of a woman and her world.

An eccentric classic. The focus shifts from evening to casual wear. Products are timeless and break free from outdated rules – they work 24/7 and suit all places and situations. This injection of courage, boldness and light-heartedness into tradition is a way of approaching design without compromising it

The Sergio Rossi woman is grounded in both reality and fantasy. The heel is mainly low and supports a new creation, part moccasin and part slipper, that seeks to establish a new aesthetic of comfort and elegance. The inspiration is a model from the historical archive, with square lines dating back to the 1990s – a golden era for Sergio Rossi.Sergio Rossi SS17 (4)The finishes are made of gold or silver. The uppers range from the minimalist to the luxurious, as in a musical crescendo rife with details (baguettes, tinted glass, mirror effects, ethnic and jungle nods). A subtle “sr1” is micro-engraved on the heels – the essence and symbol of an ideal collection to be fleshed out over time. The 6cm heel is back, thin in profile and imposing from the back, lifting sabots and sandals while remaining firmly grounded in reality.Sergio Rossi SS17 (5) Sergio Rossi SS17 (1)The presentation of the collection was conceived as a performance, a celebration of rebirth. Sergio Rossi will unveil its new deal to the international press and public at the Teatro Filodrammatici in the heart of Milan

The sharpness of the lines is tempered with softer fabrics, providing the perfect fit. From this, structured silhouettes became flowing silhouettes, in white, blue, black and earth tones. U by Ricardo Preto, on the other hand, is a collection made to provide ease of choice, ease of movement through life. Taking inspiration from the beauty present in quotidian life, the designer imagined relaxed silhouettes, in which every detail matters. Peaceful lines in flowing and soft fabrics, in a range of colors: blue, orange, white, pink and green. The famed Portuguese designer will have meet and greet events at all Rustan’s stores during the month of May.

This month of May and June, at Portugal Divino!, be swept away and be inspired by the evocative colors and rich cultural history of Portugal.

Franklin & Marshall is an Italian clothing company located in Montorio, a hamlet of Verona.

Formed in 1999 by Giuseppe Albarelli and Andrea Pensiero, the brand has a strong vintage connotation tied to the world of US colleges.

Today F&M offers a wide range of articles that includes T-shirts, polo shirts, sweatshirts, wool jumpers, Bermuda shorts and much more besides, and that combines the colours and lines typical of sports and casual clothing.Franklin and MarshallF&M has always been attentive to initiatives connected with social responsibility and is involved in many projects still in progress and others that have been completed with enormous satisfaction.

PRESENT

CAMPO DEL NIEVO. The people living in Verona say they are going to play “at the Nievo”. It is one of the city’s historic football fields, close to the city walls and near the San Giorgio complex. Franklin & Marshall has turned the dusty playing terrain into a synthetic surface for the local children to use whenever they want as they have free access to it. And in this way cherish their dreams of glory.

BRIGANTI DI LIBRINO. They snatched the San Teodoro field away from neglect and dereliction and made rugby and hope grow. They are called Briganti di Librino and they fight in one of the toughest neighbourhoods of Catania as they try to teach lawfulness and offer the local boys an alternative to juvenile deliquincy. With an oval ball and a smile.

PAST

FRANKLIN FOR AFRICA. A T-shirt to help the Salesians in Ethiopia. This is how Franklin & Marshall started up an aid programme for those who have been working in one of the planet’s poorest areas since 1975. All proceeds from the sale were donated to charity because Franklin for Africa is more than a simple T-shirt. It is rather a message of hope and growth for a future that can be pursued with work and studying, as well as through sports, competition and playing.

WORLD FOOD PROGRAM. Franklin & Marshall supported the WFP “Fill the Cup campaign. The name of the initiative was taken from the plastic cups that are widely used to serve porridge and other foods supplied by the WFP to the schools in developing countries. That is because today food in schools is a powerful network of social protection for children and their families, it improves living conditions and represents an investment in human capital from the nutritional, health, education and equality of the sexes viewpoints.

OHW?

By | What's New at Rustan's | No Comments

ohw? is the shared vision of two footwear professionals with many years of experience. Our aim is simple – to bring a fresh approach to men’s footwear with contemporary and functional designs.

Designs are kept simple and uncluttered to allow us to showcase these skills, the standard of our manufacturing and our attention to detail. ohw?’s design process takes place in the UK, beginning each season with numerous ‘field trips’ for creative inspiration.

We collaborate with leading footwear designers to translate our pick of the latest trends and then work closely with our production team to develop these from concept into reality.

Rustan's Press Release on OHW (2)

All the materials we use are of the highest quality, ranging from premium suede and nubuck to full grain leathers. Every pair comes with all leather laces, linings and socks, as well as authentic details such as hand-stitching and size markers along the cut edges of the upper materials (the traditional way that shoemakers indicate the sizes of cut pieces). Rustan's Press Release on OHW (1)Although our designs are trend led, function is also a priority. All our shoes and boots are designed to be ‘optimum fit’ (pretty damn comfortable) and have combination rubber/phylon soles.

Phylon is more usually found in the midsole of sports shoes, which means our footwear is exceptionally easy to wear. From having our own factory to handpicking the people we work with, we believe that everything we do should be a reflection of who we are.
This is the reason we chose the name ohw? and why our first marketing creative features not models, but some of the people who work with us. This commitment extends to every part of our business because we want to emphasise the authenticity of our brand. For this reason, every pair of ohw? shoes is even individually hand-signed by the person in our factory doing the final quality check.

OHW shoes are available at Rustan’s Makati and Rustan’s Shangri-La Plaza.

Rustan’s Franz Collection 2017

By | What's New at Rustan's | No Comments

Known for its handcrafted gifts, collectibles, and home décor, Franz Collection amazed the world of luxury again with its exquisite 2017 spring collection. The brand’s long-time partner, and the most upscale department store in the Philippines, Rustan’s, is adding a touch of spring to its stores by introducing these new artworks.

One of the highlights is the 15th Anniversary Collection that features wonderful creations from international artists such as G.G. Santiago from the U.S.A., Ute Patel-Missfeldt from Germany, and several others from Taiwan. These designers are unified by an aesthetic vision that combines the artistic traditions of the East and West. This unique fusion style is inimitable and a hallmark of the brand.

FRANZ proudly produces artwork co-branded with the Van Gogh Museum (Amsterdam). FRANZ’s unique three-dimensional style actualizes some of Van Gogh’s techniques, as the precisely handcrafted details in porcelain recreate the master’s signature brushstrokes and thickly applied paint. The newest vase inspired by Van Gogh, “A Window Full of Love,” features iris flowers. This porcelain piece is shaped like a window that directs the viewer’s gaze to the field of blooming irises. The liveliness of the flowers in all their vibrant colors extends beyond the frame, spilling out and pulsating with an energy that desires to explore the passions of life.

Rustan's Franz Collection 2017 (1)

The Philadelphia Museum of Art is another cultural institution that has co-branded with FRANZ. Two new pieces from this collection are inspired by work painted by Impressionists Alfred Sisley and Edgar Degas. Sisley’s work depicts an idyllic scene that easily calls forth a nostalgic longing for the joys found at home and with family. Degas’ work, on the other hand, depicts the dedication demanded of young ballerinas who must perfect their craft. The vase suggests that true dedication to art and its values will result in dreams coming true.

Rustan's Franz Collection 2017 (2)

With spring just around the corner, FRANZ always has the perfect piece. Dedicated to depicting the everlasting beauty of nature, there is no better brand for celebrating the coming of spring and the renewed growth this season brings. From lifelike birds to exquisitely detailed flowers and insects that look like they might flutter away at any moment, the handcrafted art of FRANZ is unrivaled. The brand has received innumerable awards; in particular, the Hibiscus and Rainforest collections have been awarded the “Seal of Excellence in Handicrafts” by UNESCO.

The latest FRANZ pieces are available at the Rustan’s, so visit us today!

Franz is exclusively available in Rustan’s Makati and Rustan’s Cebu.
