Lost in Layers: MUJI introduces A/W 2011 Collection

This season, MUJI introduces, “100 Wise Tips for Winter”, an informative campaign that shares practical tips on different ways to cope with unpredictable weather transitions. Snow-deprived Manila may not be enjoying the perks of the winter season, but that should not keep the Filipino fashion patrons from bundling up in style. With a creative mix of minimal fall and winter touches to fit our local weather, layering need not to be an impossible and ridiculous task. Travelbugs who plan to leave the town for some R&R to colder regions of the globe or perhaps in Baguio and Tagaytay, are also in for a warm MUJI treat. The A/W 2011 collection boasts of lightweight outerwear, thermal innerwear and cool winter accessories that can provide the best insulation for your body.

Welcome to Diesel Island Take II

By | Fashion, What's New at Rustan's | No Comments

In the first half of the year 2011, the first pioneers who stepped on Diesel Island dreamt of a virgin place where they could forge their own society. What would it be like to start a nation from scratch? To take what’s great from the countries we know and to ditch what is bad. To re-write the laws. To right social wrongs: the real land of the Stupid and home of the Braves.

Previous entry:  Welcome to Diesel Island March 19, 2011

After settling on the island, the pioneers need to turn the Successful Living philosophy in a set of principles and prescribe their own rules: this is showcased in the new development of the brand’s campaign, the writing of Diesel Island constitution.

The Diesel islanders have not lost their hope in fighting for their right to succeed, taking the Be Stupid manifesto of having balls, letting go, creating stuff, throwing it all in the air and seeing where it lands.

The campaign comes to life with a 360° approach. On Diesel’s main site each picture will be featured as a pop-up book, having a different animation, representing one of the laws of the Constitution. Along with the set of laws, the election of a government where social networks serve as polling places: a facebook application, an Island TAB, a YouTube Channel, and digital gadgets on FlickR. Furthermore, a video will be broadcasted across social media sites: a parody of a musical, where the pioneers sing the principles of the Diesel Island Constitution.

On top of it all, the Diesel Island campaign will also be integrated into e-commerce: by clicking on any item, a panel is overlaid, allowing a clear appreciation of the clothes, complete product information and a direct link to buy.

Furla Autumn Winter 2011

AMAZZONE: THE STORY OF A MUST-HAVE ITEM

AMAZZONE is a bag with a strong, yet highly feminine personality rooted in the brand’s historic archives, and is the result of a reinterpretation of a cult model from the past.

The concepts around each variation developed are multi-functionality, versatility and practicality. Each choice of material, detail and colour is dictated by the desire to transform a single bag into many bags, with multiple personalities: AMAZZONE is classic in the nappa-leather, youthful dressed in pony skin, unconventional in the animal-print, super-chic in ostrich-print leather and aggressive with gold or bronze embellished studs chosen this season to interpret the rock-chic mood to perfection.

A distinctive element that lends character to the bag is the presence of large side zips that not only increase its capacity, thanks to the interior expandable pockets, but also conceal unexpected constructive and creative solutions: inserts in contrasting colours and materials.

MINI & MAXI BAGS

The season’s fashion speaks to us of a dynamic, elegant, refined lady who loves a vaguely retro style made of precious details.

The bag is an essential accessory: it has sober lines, is always chic and is preferably carried in the hand.

Maxi bags designed for working girls and mini bags in perfect ladylike style. To be used day and night, combined with the most special outfits. To be carried together or one “dangling” from the other like a curious maxi-charm. And, always, with an original twist.

furla-mini-maxi-bags-05.jpg

Furla has developed some of its iconic seasonal lines in mini & maxi versions: alongside the classic St. Germain handbag of somewhat retro taste is the mini version in the same colour variations and made from the same materials (nappa, leather, crocodile and ostrich-print leather, pony skin and suede).

furla-mini-maxi-bags-04.jpg

The Candy line, now a Furla must, has also been developed in the two sizes. The classic rectangular rubber bag, proposed in new tones, is joined by the new, small Candy, a mini-bag to be carried in the hand or worn with a strap in a wealth of sparkling colors.
