Fantan Bread

By | Yummy! | No Comments

When you first try this bread, you will not believe that it was something that was heated from the freezer because it tastes like it was freshly baked.  It is called “Fantan” because it looks like a fan.  What an interesting shape of bread and it is so good.  Try it!!!  Look for it in the frozen section of Rustan’s supermarket where they store the pizza crusts, frozen french fries and other frozen breads.

Cebu Delicacies and Pasalubongs

By | Travel, Yummy! | 11 Comments

In Cebu, there is a Pasalubong store right before you reach the airport.  So if you have time, try to buy all your pasalubongs either in that Pasalubong center ( you will not miss it – yellow building ) or in supermarkets in the city.  Because just like anything else, the stuff in the airport are always more expensive.

The original and the best dried mango brand

rmdmgo.jpg

SHAMROCK brand is supposedly the best brand but it was not available at the time I was shopping…or maybe I just did not see it

 p1030608.JPG

and now they have other varieties of Otap…with cinnamon

 p1030609.JPG

Of course, there is CHICHARON  many many brands all over but of course we try to be healthy and so we buy this which actually is a far cry from the ones with fat

 p1030617.JPG

This Peanut browas I discovered from my sister.  It is like lenguas de gato but has peanut flavor. Lola Pureza is a good brand

p1030614.JPG p1030622.JPG

and Lola Pureza also has mini mamon which is a popular product as well.  It is small mamons that are toasted

 p1030616.JPG

Dad and Mom never fails to buy their danggit..again trying to be healthy, we get the UNSALTED one.  It is still salty though.  Fry it ( in olive oil ) and then serve with scrambled egg and garlic rice! yummy!

Frozen Sansrival

If there is frozen Brazo de Mercedez from Dimpy, check out this frozen sansrival! YUMMY!!

It looks just like a regular sansrival but it has ice cream in it!

I discovered this at the Karl Edward Bazaar and Elaine was selling her cookies and pastries.  I actually liked her White House Peppermint cookies and Chocolate Chips which she was sampling and selling that day.  She was not selling her Frozen Sansrival but it was in her price list and I asked her about it and ordered it!  I LOVE IT!

I also featured Elaine in Baker’s Dozen when she was exhibiting at the Power plant mall.

Crazy Sushi!

By | Yummy! | 2 Comments

I am CRAZY over CRAZY SUSHIs!  Also, aren’t you happy that now they found a way to make use of the leftover tempura batter that does not stick to the tempura?  Nothing goes to waste.  The “crunchy” part on the side of the sushi is the fried tempura batter pieces.    I wonder if they will give you extra if you ask for more 🙂 because that is partially what makes it YUMMY! These are the three YUMMY kinds I have discovered so far….

Wagyu Shawarma

By | Yummy! | 3 Comments

I try to avoid going to Salcedo Market because you cannot imagine the temptation of going through all the booths there…I was just supposed to get the Bangus belly for dad last Saturday and true enough, on the way, I saw this!

dsc_5952.JPG

I couldn’t say no!  I just had to try it! And as you can see at around 11 am, it was almost gone

dsc_5950.JPG dsc_5954.JPG

You can put lettuce, tomatoes, onions, chili sauce, garlic sauce and cheese.

 dsc_5956.JPG

From the same makers as the steak and cheese! I have not tried that burger yet!

Goodies from Germany

By | Yummy! | No Comments

Our sister Tina always brings to Sunday family lunch tons and tons of chocolates.  Everyone always looks forward to this.  And many times, there is always a new discovery!

The de Jesus family are all chocolate lovers!

Thanks to Gerry and Tina for bringing us back these chocolates from Germany!   As we always say,  next time, BRING US WITH YOU!

Milka of course is a family favorite and I agree with you Tins, the Milka cookies are soooo…. good! But then again, I agree with Dina, your homemade chocolate chip cookies are much better… just try experimenting and using Milka chocolates.  And DAIM with Milka! I will share one bar with Keena because she loves Daim too. The Ovomaltine is still being saved for a special occassion!  🙂  Keep them coming!!
