The much awaited Starbucks Planner is out already!!!  This planner was first launched in Christmas 2003 and it was the planner that started the planner craze in our country.  Many other stores and companies followed suit.  You cannot imagine what Starbucks customers do just to get this planner. It’s amazing!  And not only has it been copied in our country but Starbucks International has adapted the idea to other countries as well all over the world! Many great ideas come from Starbucks Philippines and implemented all over the world.  That is Filipino talent at work.

Thanks to Con Con for telling us about this place and thanks to Dina for waking me up or else we would not have been able to go to this unique experience!  On our way down from Baguio, we stopped here to have breakfast.  It was 3 hours from Baguio and another 2 1/2 hours to Manila from this place.

We spent more time touring and taking photos rather than eating.  But the food was very good and reasonable.  The huts where you dine are floating on water.  They have games which you can play if you want to win a kilo of fish – crossing this narrow bridge and the monkey game – and you can throw plates on the wall to release your anger 🙂

According to the waiter, anyone can come in even if you do not eat. So make sure to pass by ( you will not miss it ) even to just make a wish to the giant Buddha!

Iago’s 1st Birthday

By | Celebrations | 3 Comments

November 10, saturday 12:30 pm Manila Polo Club Turf Room

Carmina told us a few months ago she wanted to have a simple celebration for Iago……small get together like what she has in New York….maybe by the pool….so we referred her to our friends Angellete and Ellie of Jelly Bellies to help her out.

Wow!! If this party is what you call simple, don’t ever forget to invite us to one of your “not simple” parties 🙂  We had a grand time.  Thanks so much for inviting us and Happy Birthday to Iago!! He is adorable and growing up so fast!

Get Closer to God – Luke 18 Weekend

By | For kids | One Comment

“When i joined Luke, I did not know anything about the community and I was not very sure of who I was. Through the activities I was able to learn more about myself, and I made lots of good friends through the community. I learned how to be a leader and how to work well with different types of people.”
12.jpg 15.jpg

My niece, Ria,  joined Luke 18 in 1997, when she was fourteen. Ten years later, she is still an active member of the community but have since then moved on, by joining Antioch and Single Young Adults. She is now back in the Luke community as an adult leader.

Luke 18 is a parish based group that was started in San Antonio in the 1980s for kids 11-15 years old. The movement is meant to introduce the kids to the parish community and to get them to be active members of the parish. This is their first encounter with their Faith Family. They get to know more about themselves through the talks, share groups, singing, prayer and other activities

They hold weekends (retreat) twice a year, and this is how they join the community. They have bi-monthly meetings and other activities such as youth masses, outreach activities, scavenger hunts and plays. All of these activities are planned and executed by the kids themselves. The kids are guided by a parent couple, presently, Jolly and Petchay Gomez and a spiritual director, Father Joel Sulse. They are assisted by young adults, who are also members of the community, either as old Lukers and Antiochers or members of Single Young Adults (SYA).

“Jesus however called the children to Him and said: ‘Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Amen, i say to you, whoever does not accept the kingdom of God as a child shall not enter it.'” Luke 18:15-17
