| October 1, 2007 Monday After numerous attempts to get a seat in Mamou, we finally got to try what everyone is raving about. Thanks to our dear friends, Gary and Alexie for inviting and arranging the dinner. It was nice to meet the owner, Malou. We really enjoyed our dinner. Everything was delicious! And if you are craving for Peter Luger steak, this is the closest you will get in the Philippines. We will be back to try the other dishes on the menu. |
One of my favorite snacks when i was a kid was leslie’s Cheese puffs. I do not know if you remember that snack, but I know my brothers and sisters do because it was our favorite. It was only P 5.00 for a big big pack and it was soooo….. yummy. After awhile, it disappeared and I was so depressed, I wrote the company to ask them to bring the product back. About 20 years after, I met Bobby Wong, the owner of Leslie’s and told him about my request and he remembers receiving my letter. Since I met him, I have been asking him to bring back our favorite snack…..and many years after…….IT IS BACK!!!
I am making ” yabang” that I was given a sample to try during the product development stage and now got a hold of the product before reaching the supermarket shelves. I have my inside connections – Bobby and Douglas.
It is not exactly the same as the original one in terms of shape, color and taste, but it is close in terms of taste. It comes also in a new flavor Butter and Cheese which is on the sweet side and it tastes good too !!!!!

Thanks to Rachel/QT and her six friends who spent 5 hours giving almost a 100 kids haircuts for the Educare kids. She introduced the idea to me early this year and I got so excited since it was such a unique activity.
QT went to the Wella Studio to learn about hairstyling since she wanted to put up her own salon but has not pursued it. She met the other hairstylists in Wella Studio who helped make today a special day for the kids.
This proves that everyone can share whatever talent they have and help in whatever way they can….

A special degustation night marked the first year anniversary of Mezzaluna, one of Serendra’s signature restaurants. A degustation menu consists of several courses, with each course highlighting the specialties of the house. It was SUPERB!!!

I thought citronella was used only for candles to drive mosquitoes away. There are so many other uses which I discovered.
There was a time I was having problems with ants in my house since we leave a lot of snacks and chocolates on our tables or just in the kitchen or pantry. My cousin, Ana taught me a tip to get rid of those ants! She is such a great resource for household tips.
After thorough detergent cleaning, wipe all surfaces which are prone to crawling insects (mainly the kitchen and bathroom) with a cotton pad soaked in full strength citronella essential oil. Use a flat cotton pad over the cotton balls since it makes the most efficient use of a fairly expensive essential oil. Another way would be to dilute it in water as a spray, but, Ana recommends to use cotton in full strength.
After the area is thoroughly cleaned,put a cotton ball dabbed in citronella inside a small plastic container in the area. Do remember to keep the citronella away from any food which is not sealed tightly as your food might taste lemony or like citronella.
Citronella keeps away the flying insects to a limited degree, but, it really keeps away all sorts of crawling insects ( cockroaches and ants especially ) and the best part about it is that it is all natural and not harmful.

We had dinner in Maurizio Ristorante since we just found out that this is owned by our friends, Mykie Ozaeta and Emerson Yao of Lucerne. The eggplant dip which came with the pane di casa was very good. The pastas and risottos were very good as well and the black cherry gelato.
