Beyond Bamboo

Isn’t she lovely?
Sheila Bermudez Romero introduced me to her beautiful store, Beyond Bamboo, which just turned two years old this month. It is beyond bamboo because it is not the typical Asian style though some items are sourced from Asia, but MODERN in design and look. She is partners with her sister, Trisha Bermudez who is an Interior Designer. So they can do your whole house and furnish it with all the items that they offer.
Sheila does the business devt., marketing, and other day to day functions and the buying which she enjoys the most as she loves to travel. She used to be a restauranteur and owned Azzuro Bistro but sold it to give way to her motherly duties to her four children. She is a very hands on Mom! We actually met her during the Europe Tour as she accompanied her 14 year old daughter the whole three weeks. Wow! “Get Fit in 10 Minutes!” by Coach Jim Saret
Get Ready for the Holidays with a Festive Meal by MARY GRACE Dimacali (of the famous cheese rolls & ensaymadas)Thanks to Ola and Gigi for organizing this month’s Mothers Club.
We realized we should have been in our gym outfits so we could do the 10 minute workout of Coach Jim Saret….but I was so amazed when our host, Mimie, actually changed into her outfit and demonstrated for us. She is a perfect host and I love it because she is always “game” to participate and lead the group. We were very impressed with what we learned from Coach Jim and how he convinced us to do this 10-minute workout everyday, but after “getting fit in 10 minutes” we go back to eating and gaining back the calories we lost in the 10-minute workout! 🙂 Mary Grace of course did not reveal her secret recipes for her famous Ensaymadas and cheese rolls, instead she taught us some very interesting dishes which were all very simple to do, yet delicious. Another fruitful day at Mothers club!

ELEGANT and BEAUTIFUL! Beautiful living room…This is proof of UNLIMITED POSSIBILITIES!! as long as you are creative and always look out of the box…..I could never imagine a living room this high and yet it exists. The lighting all around the house, inside and out, is done really well. Beautiful works of art….and there is more. Hope to be able to take photos of the other rooms when it is completely finished.

Elbert’s Steak Room

We wanted to have a good dinner with some friends and we did…at Elbert’s Steak Room. Aside from being the famous Mac expert, Elbert is now also known for his steaks. There was a need to have a good steak place in Manila, so he wanted to fill that demand.
Everyone talked about how difficult it was to find the place because it had no sign and we asked Elbert why it was that way and he said that it was not a priority because he would like his customers to come on purpose and know what they are getting into and know what to expect….. and true enough, just by word of mouth, his place is always booked in its one month of operations.For more information visit his website: http://www.steakroom.com/Home.html

Marybeth and Cupcakes

Marybeth is my friend because:

1.)  She treated me to Cupcakes! 

2.)  Her parents and my parents are friends

3.)  Her siblings – Bobby, Caloy and Trish are our friends

4.)  She loves Rustan’s

5.)  She likes to help people and she says she does it in her own little ways

6.)  She is very close to her family and loves them that until now she eats lunch with her Lola everyday and dinner with her family every night

7.)  She is young at heart!

8.)  She makes me laugh and laugh and laugh!

9.)  The more I learn about her, the more I like her!

Guava

This was my first time to eat in Guava….thanks to my friends Brenda and Lucille for inviting me to join them for lunch. It is amazing what dishes you can make with guava. I find this restaurant interesting because it is Filipino food with a twist. We should support our very own and I am glad we have restaurants like this.
