Mike Adrao’s wall piece by the entrance of Art Fair

Art Fair Philippines continues to work with Kenneth Cobonpue and his team to fine-tune the fair’s layout
I saw Stella and Jonathan Que with Annie Cabigting at the MOMA
So I sat down with them 🙂 Thank you to the official photographer of Art Fair Philippines, Jojo Gloria for taking our photo
Jose John Santos III spotted nearby one of his collaborations

I thought Rustan’s Supermarket was exhibiting at Art Fair! haha!! Tin-Aw Galleries with Art in a Can
So happy to catch rockstar artist Geraldine Javier at her interactive art work called “Let’s Talk About Art”

She made embroidered dolls of different artists and she asked them “What is Art for you?” and they will write their answer in the thought bubble and post it on the wall. After which, people are invited to also reply so there are blank thought bubbles there where you can write and post. Sort of how you reply and comment in Facebook or in Instagram 🙂 How fun!

Geraldine says that there is a prize for whoever can guess all the artists on the wall 🙂
An intimate dinner at Salcedo Auctions
in collaboration with Philippine Tatler – Richie and Karen Lerma with Tita Irene Martel Francisco. Salcedo Auctions is celebrating their 5th year anniversary this year and Karen told me that it was while they were living in Australia and being exposed to auctions there, they thought of opening up an Auction house here when they decided to come back to the Philippines to live here
It was also a preview for the upcoming auction on March 7 – Important Philippine Art. Richie pulled us towards this special piece which is a long lost artwork of Juan Luna. For a century the whereabouts of this painting was not known until today when they were able to match it from the book of the artist himself published by the Eugenio Lopez Foundation. Richie told me that he loves his work because he meets a lot of people and loves the stories behind every piece of artwork or auction piece that goes through his auction house
Another valuable piece of art from the same family
Friends of Philippine Tatler and Salcedo Auctions were there
With a sumptuous dinner by Cibo
From the front of the house to this room where more works of art were displayed! Beautiful!
The upcoming auction will also benefit Ballet Philippines. And here is a sneak peek at what they have
Liquid Salt sprayed on the dessert! A first from Gaita! 🙂
That evening, the Lermas and Sandie Poblador announced a new collaboration
A collaboration with Salcedo Auctions and Casador Realty
Even Real Estate will not be auctioned off!! The first one will be held on March 28! Watch out for this!

After which beautiful jewellery pieces were passed around for you to try 🙂
A lovely evening. Thank you Salcedo Auctions and Philippine Tatler! More power to both!

The old Rustan’s Makati building is considered art! The blue tiled building in Ayala Avenue was the first Rustan’s ever built. It’s a landmark that people will never forget even if it is not there anymore

A photo will always be unique and an expression and an interpretation by a unique individual so not one will ever be alike!
Vintage photos of the Old Manila are art too.
Third get together for the week and for the year! Pope party, New Year Get Together and now dinner with the art group. I am enjoying this but quite tiring ( LOL 🙂 ) So the theme for tonight is ART 🙂 because it’s what brought our group together at one point 20 years ago.
I just bought some paintbrushes and a small palette. Then I had some paint from an event and just added it. I was thinking of a mini easel with a blank canvass where we could paint but then I thought that it would have taken away our attention to each other for that evening so I shelved the idea for now
Cut some plants from the garden and put some paintbrushes in my fish bowls for the centerpiece
Celebrating the birthday of one of our friends, so he gets a birthday hat on his place which he will have to wear! 🙂
The birthday boy! Benny!! I love it that he wore the hat the whole night! 🙂
Chef Javs prepared a 7 course Degustation for us. Pork Buns, Lobster Cream Corn, Saffron Angulas on pastry cup, Chicken wings with Konbu butter sauce, Prawn cooked Two Ways – Shrimp Tempura with banana, truffle honey and Wasabi mayo and Prawn served in a pastry shell with saffron Bernaise sauce. And for the main course we had a Bryan Flannery Rib cap which is the tastiest and most tender part in a roast beef. It comes in a roll and you slice it as in the photo below
Dr. Benny the birthday boy slicing his food like he was in the OR! haha!!
Group photo which now includes Tammy and Dina!!! Missing another couple, Bobby and Birang Wong! Looking forward to our next one!

Congratulations Eduardo Olbes on the launch of Sabor A Ming.
The exhibit and sale is ongoing until March 1 at the Ayala Museum
His proud niece, Nicole Olbes Fandino, invited me to the opening night
Eduardo Olbes lives in Mexico and he has already his clientele there. The last time he had an exhibit in the Philippines was 20 years ago. He said in his speech tonight ” If Love is not present the piece does not emerge.” That explains the love and passion that goes into each piece that he makes
Full support from family and friends. His wife, Marina Vinos, his brother, Tito Tony Olbes and Tita Maricris who are very good friends of my parents and his good friend, Don Jaime Zobel 🙂
Thank you Isa Lorenzo for representing Eduardo Olbes and helping promote his works in the Philippines
Eduardo Olbes’ son, Benito, who is also a lithographer and sculptor and helps his dad in producing the pieces
Oh my gosh! That Chinese Consul Chair II – 2011 Santo Tomas Marble and ash wood just doubled in price because Don Jaime sat on it!!! 🙂

ACCPF raises funds and promotes awareness throughout the Philippines to support its activities and enable fellowship opportunities for the next generation of artists and cultural scholars. For more information, please contact ACC Manila Director Teresa Rances at accphilippines@gmail.com.
Jaime Ponce De Leon, founder and owner of Leon Gallery. A very young guy at age 35 who came from Dumaguete ( and even became Barangay Captain there ) then moved to Manila and took up Interior Design and found himself selling art on the side until he opened his own gallery in 2010 and later on opened the Auction house in late 2012. Amazing guy! MORE POWER!
22 pieces out of the 156 works of art are directly donated by various artists, three of which are ACCP grantees – Ambie Abano, Sam Penaso and Don Salubayba. 40% of the sale will go to the fellowship program. Leon Gallery will also be giving a percentage of the proceeds to the ACCP. Last year, the ACCP was able to give 4 grants

Lovely couple, Randy and Pia Young. They were the ones who introduced us to art. The painting beside them in this photo is by Malang and was our first painting which we bought when we got married. They own the Crucible Gallery together with Sari and Nancy. They represent Arturo Luz, Anita Magsaysay Ho, Cesar Legaspi, Mauro Malang Santos , Jerry Araos exclusively. At present they handle Arturo Luz and contemporary rock stars like Igan Dibayan. Doctor couple – Dr. Benny Herbosa, General Surgeon- plastic and reconstructive surgery ( cleft children, burns hand surgeries ) and Dra. Val Floro Herbosa, General Dermatology ( specializing in infectious and Dermatopathology ) Plus Tammy and Dina who don’t have a couple photo 🙂 I forgot to take!
