My friend, Margie, treated me out for lunch as her birthday gift to me. I like her birthday gift because atleast I get to spend time with her and enjoy her company. Thanks dear Margie!!!
She shared with me one of her favorite restaurants which I have been hearing from my friends. So finally I get to try it. Margie says she likes it here because it is not noisy, she can eat properly without much distraction and of course the food is very good.
It is not the usual japanese restaurant. Instead of having one main dining area, it has rooms which can accomodate small groups. All the clients during lunch were Japanese, we were the only Filipinos. So this place must be really good and serves authentic japanese food if the Japanese go here!
We stayed in the Main sushi counter
Shintaro and his brother who both work here
Sushi knives!! One knife costs around P 500,000.00 and above- wow!
Shintaro so proud to show me toro ( Blue fin tuna belly ). My husband loves toro so I showed him the photo when I got home 🙂 I am not really a sushi or sashimi eater so we were just watching Shintaro make the sushi. And as always, everything to the Japanese is an ART! They take everything seriously and do everything with passion and everything is thought out so well
Freshly made wasabi
This was our lunch – the Daily Lunch Special – YUMMY! We had appetizer, soup, gindara, chicken and dessert
I seem to notice that whenever we eat Japanese food, the feeling is never heavy. They say that when you feel light and not like you regret eating something, that the food is healthy….
P 100.00 toothpick! I had to use one just to try it and see how it feels 🙂
Sesame ice cream which came with the lunch meal
Thanks Margie!! Just to prove how funny and hilarious she is…she was asking me if she should go to the gym after lunch….. and she tells me, “Sayang naman ang kinain ko kung pupunta ako sa gym!” Normally it would be the other way around! 🙂

Jeena is the most adventurous woman that I know!! She already showed signs when we were in highschool. She was into all the physical activities! Not only that, she married one of the most active guys in town, Ernie! So you can imagine…and now even their kids are getting into the action and the beauty of it is they seem to be enjoying as a family! I am so glad to finally be featuring Jeena in Heart2Heart!! Not only to counter all the eating we do here 🙂 but to pay tribute to an outstanding woman who inspires us all to JUST DO IT! to be adventurous and explore new things! and at the same time save lives!
And now she tells us she is into biking!! What next?
I hope you can help support Jeena and the Cervical Cancer Patients….
Good luck Jeens…we are behind you all the way!
As some of you may already know, I have recently taken on a new sport: Biking. This was inspired by a a friend who told me about “tour of hope”. It’s a 5-day 500 kilometer bike ride (yes, BICYCLE) from Manila to Camarines Sur in Bicol. Aside from the physical challenge of it all, it’s a charity project to raise funds for Cervical Cancer awareness, and hopefully to prevent one of the most common cancers to afflict women in the Philippines. During these 5 days May 24-28, there will be seminars and screenings held at the designated rest stops of our bike ride. Hopefully we save some lives and some families from losing their mothers. If I could save just 1 person, my 500 km. ride would be well worth it. The good thing about cervical cancer is it can be detected early and prevented. Thus I am asking your support to pledge for me for the “tour of hope” and help a lot of women out there. It would be wonderful to know that I am with you at every kilometer I ride for the fight against cervical cancer. Included here is a pledge form for me. I hope I can count on you guys to support this. Thank you from the women you have helped! |

From my friend, Tere Tabuena Del Rosario, who is constantly on the go doing many many things – running her school, actively working with her Church ( Walkway – April 10, 2009 ) and organizing and promoting her father’s Foundation, the Louie Tabuena Liver Foundation (Louie Tabuena Foundation September 30, 2008 )
Franco Del Rosario, President of the Six Sigma Consulting, has organized the Second annual conference on “The War For The Right People In A Recession” on May26, 2009 at the Dusit Hotel; with a stellar speaker line-up at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati City, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Franco believes that in any economic environment, a lack of talent blocks corporate growth; more so in a recession, as the health and sustainability of firms rest on the quality and depth of its talent
The speakers will share their techniques in sourcing, attracting, developing and retaining right people.
What are the compelling reasons to attend this conference?
1. We have many fantastic confirmed speakers and panelists this year. It is quite possible that our event will be the first time Ernest Cu will be speaking in a business conference since his recent appointment as Globe Telecom CEO.
2. We have a rare opportunity to hear Louisa W. Rosseau who is flying in from Hong Kong in the morning of our conference just to speak in our conference and flying back to Hong Kong right after her talk. She is the Group Managing Director of Bó Lè Associates. She was cited by BusinessWeek magazine as one of the “50 Most Influential Search Consultants in the World” in 2008. She holds an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School. Bó Lè Associates is the #1 search firm in China, with 18 offices including Shanghai, Beijing, Taipei, Singapore, Jakarta, Manila, Bangkok, KL, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi ).
3. The opportunity to learn from other prominent people with very successful companies such as Peter Maquera, CEO of SPi Technologies, 2007 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Fred Uytengsu, Alaska Milk CEO and from the entertainment industry, TV Host and celebrity talent manager, Boy Abunda.

Last March, my hijada, Danni, graduated from gradeschool, so Lola prepared a dinner in honor of her! I loved the set up the Rustan’s Flower Shop made!
Danni was made to choose all her favorite dishes…so it sort of looked like it did not really all blend and jive 🙂 But nevertheless it was all good!!!
Favorite pizza from Vargas Kitchen
Fried Chicken and Pochero from Yaya Sion , Japanese fried rice with Wagyu beef
Pasta Al Fungi and Quattro Formaggio from Yaya Sion and Grilled prawns
And WOW!! We had a whole dessert buffet!!!!!!! YUMMY!! Danni should graduate every year so we can have this 🙂
Green Tea Frozen Brazo de Mercedez and Concorde from Kitchen’s Best, Tita Roselyn, Tita Marlyn and Tita Berna brought it for Danni
Spanish Turron and Sansrival from Lola
Bread pudding from Cirkulo and Chocolate cake, Tocino del Cielo and Mango Sanrival from Kitchen’s Best
Chocolate cupcakes from Dimpy

In our family, no one escapes his or her turn in hosting Sunday family lunch. So, our eldest brother, Mike, also takes his turn in hosting. Though we were not complete, today was still a special lunch because it was Mother’s Day ……
and Mike did prepare something special and unique…he covered the whole table with banana leaves and put the food on top! Everything was grilled or “inihaw” – fish, chicken, pork and eggplant with beef
There was garlic rice wrapped in banana leaves
We were all supposed to eat with our hands “kamayan” style..but since we were not used to it, we still asked for plates and spoon and fork! Here is Mike enjoying his rice eating with his hands…but why does he still have a fork and spoon? 🙂
Here are the other dishes we have had from other Sunday lunches of Mike. Mostly Filipino dishes and with lots of vegetables
You’re probably wondering where all the good food comes from….Apparently, Mike is lucky that someone special prepares all the food during his turn 🙂
