Now Brewing in Subic!

By | What's New at Starbucks? | 4 Comments

A month ago, I received a text from my Tita Nena all the way from Subic:”Subic looking good cuz Starbucks is in the neighborhood!”

Thanks to my friends, Ned and Janet for sending me these pictures of the new store.  You will not miss it as it is in the main intersection.  I can’t wait to see it for myself this weekend!

The Art of Spring by Culte Femme

By | Fashion, What's New at Rustan's | 3 Comments

Known for intricate embroidery, patchwork and prints, famed label Culte Femme ushers in its Spring/Summer collection for 2009. Filled with vibrant style and detail, Culte Femme dresses a woman in tune with the different moods of Summer.

Well-known for its fashion forward style, Culte Femme emphasizes femininity through sultry designs made for women who want to be different. Taking that sense of fashion up a notch, it’s all about Luxe Casual sophistication. The trend speaks of quick transformations from one look to the next – bohemian casual to relaxed elegance. Key pieces can take each woman from the beach to the city and back with a quick change in accessories or footwear.

Culte Femme is designed by Hindy Weber-Tantoco and sold exclusively at the Culte Femme boutiques in Rustan’s Makati, Shangri-La Mall, and Alabang Town Center.

Pieces coming in breezy tissue cotton, silk charmeuse, distressed canvas, satinized twill, eyelet and lace can be paired with rugged denim shorts for day or dressy trousers and killer heels for night. In a fast paced lifestyle, Culte Femme jives perfectly with every woman’s preference for easy-to-wear looks, sacrificing neither style nor individuality.

This season also sees the emphasis on various silhouettes from loose and relaxed to structured & tight, while hemlines explore the extreme lengths of minis and maxis.

The must-have items include reversible jersey dresses, bright-colored jeans, floral bustiers, beach totes in reversible canvas with a striped & plain combo, and patent coated canvas totes with contrasting lining. Patent bow belts, gilded flats and cork wedges complete the ensemble.

Blended to art-palette perfection, Culte Femme mixes black, ivory and salmon with distinctive shades of asphalt, hibiscus pink, acid yellow, mint and peacock blue.

Dressing the fashion savvy with every mood and taste, Culte Femme embraces each season with a defining line set to take on any occasion.

Recyclable Bags

By | Green, Household Tips | 10 Comments

I have collected quite a few recyclable bags which have become very useful.  They come in different shapes, colors and sizes so depending on where I am going or where I will shop, I choose one that will fit…

This is my most used recyclable bag because I use it to do my groceries, I have around 35 pieces of this.  I keep 3 or 4 pieces in my car so just in case I do last minute or emergency grocery, it is in the car

This is a very popular one. Everyone seems to always call my attention when they see me using this bag.  People are amazed that it is made out of recycled newspapers – what a clever idea!

Thanks to Tito Rudy and Tita Monina for this one! I love it especially because of the saying on the bag and it benefits a livelihood program!

Messy Bessy by H.O.U.S.E.

By | Giving Back, Green | 5 Comments

Heart2Heart is proud to feature behind the scenes of Messy Bessy…… aside from it being environmentally friendly, it also helps 8 young adults. Messy Bessy is only one of the projects of H.O.U.S.E. which is a foundation set up by my sister, Krie.  I am looking forward to more of her projects because she is very creative..so watch out for more things to come from H.O.U.S.E

img_1891.jpg

Here is a short background of the foundation from Krie:

H.OU.S.E. was built to be a group of businesses that are run by young adults who are disadvantaged (formerly abused, impoverished, neglected and/or incarcerated) img_1034.jpg

Established in 2007 and has since generated over 4,000 hours of work experience for the 8 beneficiaries, all of whom are young adults from the Virlanie Foundation (www.virlanie.org).  Virlanie is the largest non-sectarian child-caring nonprofit organization in Manila.img_2753.jpg

The first enterprise of H.OU.S.E. is Messy Bessy Cleaners, Inc., established in November 2007. (www.messybessy.com)img_0634.jpg

Messy Bessy Cleaners, Inc. is a manufacturer and wholesaler of eco-friendly, nontoxic household cleaners.  Currently, we carry 18 different products offered in over 10 distribution points.img_0841.jpg

Profits from Messy Bessy are funelled back into the beneficiaries — through (1) salaries and (2) personal development programs which include home schooling, art therapy and the like.  Home schooling for 3 of our beneficiaries/employees started in March of this year.img_1646.jpg

The upcoming enterprises of H.OU.S.E. include the following:  Daisy’s Daydream all-natural Ice Cream and Misis Linis, a lower end line of green cleaners to be distributed through women’s livelihood projects in depressed areas.

HOUSE is a social enterprise — a for-profit venture with social goals.  Although our businesses are designed to sustain the project, we are still hoping for  donations to jumpstart our development programs.  We are in particular looking for:

(1) A space with affordable rent for Safe HOuSE — a center that holds our kitchen, office, storage and School HOuSE.

(2) kitchen supplies, office furniture, text books, books

(3) old clothes, uniforms, aprons

Recycle Waste

By | Green | One Comment

I visited my old school, Assumption San Lorenzo,  a few weeks ago and was so happy to see their trash cans

dsc_9241.JPGdsc_9242.JPGassumptionrecyclable.jpg

I noticed that the Ayala Malls/Ayala  group is very active in environmental concerns, they have Recyclable fairs, I saw booths set up in their malls promoting ays to save Mother Earth, then of course their waste bins are properly marked and placed in their malls04172009255.jpgshowloveearth.jpg

I visited my Mom’s backyard and was surprised to see this! Hers is even more specific…SHE IS THE BEST! 🙂

moms-backyard6.jpgmoms-backyard7.jpgmoms-backyard8.jpg

moms-backyard9.jpg

I wish someone would sell proper trash cans with labels already and color coded for household use…. I WILL BUY!! or maybe I should make it and sell it 🙂  Meantime, I will follow my Mom and try to device a system for my home…

It all begins with us…and imagine if each one of us does our small part in saving our environment, then our planet will be a better place to live in…for us and for future generations to come

Printing Emails

By | Green | 2 Comments

I received an email from my friend and I thought it was a very nice touch and a good reminder.  I hardly print anything now and keep my files all on soft copy in my computer.  I only print when really necessary
