Villa 13, Shangri-la Boracay

By | Travel | 6 Comments

This villa is another great spot in the resort!  If you want to stay in a villa, make sure you request for Villa 13.  It is the only villa with DIRECT ACCESS TO THE BEACH!  You cannot imagine how valuable that is in the resort. Since the place is very big, the beach is quite far from the villas and rooms.  So this villa is the BEST! It has two bedrooms so it is perfect for a family, a hut outside where you can eat outdoors and a patio. BEAUTIFUL!

As you go out of the living room- you see your pool and then the view of the beach

I requested for a tour to see the Presidential Suite…..It was beautiful!!! Even if the resort is beautiful as a whole, this suite is a place you would not want to leave either…no need to leave the resort and definitely no need to leave this villa…

Find Your Shangri-La in Boracay

By | Travel | 6 Comments

I was able to take a peek at the new Shangri-la in Boracay.  Of course, Shangri-la never fails to live up to its name and reputation.  It was beautiful!  I heard that there are 1,700 staff manning the resort…not to mention 170 security guards around the area guarding the guests. It is an island on its own…peaceful and quiet.  Be prepared to stay in this resort and only in this resort to relax, enjoy and have a peaceful vacation..as it is a beautiful island on its own

When you arrive in the airport they take you to their own port….

Cake Avenue

By | Yummy! | 2 Comments

It was so nice to meet Maryrose and Liza, owners of Cake Avenue.  They are also Assumptionistas 🙂  I always pass by their shop which is under the overpass on my way from Power Plant Mall but I never get to stop.  Finally I featured them in the Baker’s Dozen ( Baker’s Bozen Celebrates Valentine February 11, 2009 ) and loved their Valentine offerings.   They told me that they started this business because aside from being good friends,  they have one thing in common….. they love to cook and bake!  🙂

I tried their new product – Brazo de Yema!! YUMMY!!!!!! It is like brazo de mercedez but yema inside – a different textur.  They have it also in sugar free.

cake-avenue-12.jpg

One of their best sellers too

cake-avenue-14.jpg

And this is their BEST BEST SELLER!  🙂  I tasted it and it is really really good!!!  A MUST TRY!!  I thought that my Lola’s cook was the only one who could bake the BEST Food for the Gods, but apparently, I have tried a few good ones already

This is their latest collection of pastries – SUGAR FREE!!

Banapple

By | Foodie | 4 Comments

After our delicious lunch at Fat Skillet, right beside it was Banapple.  We decided to have dessert there. I wish they had a Makati branch!  They have only two, one in Katipunan and one newly opened in Tomas Morato dsc_8349.JPGbanapple7.jpgdsc_8354.JPGbanapple5.jpgbanapple_goodies.jpgbanapple9.jpgdsc_8396.JPG The cake that caught my attention!

dsc_8356.JPG

so I ordered it 🙂 It sounded better than it tasted but it was still YUMMY! dsc_8401.JPG

The cake that caught Janet’s attention 🙂

dsc_8382.JPG

So, Janet ordered it 🙂 GOOD CHOICE! We all liked this one! SUPER MOIST! SUPER FUDGY!!! SUPER SUPER YUMMY!

dsc_8397.JPG

I asked what their best seller was and they said of course…their APPLE PIE so I ordered it too.  It was okay…maybe because I expected so much when they said it was their best seller.  I liked the unique topping with crumbs on top

dsc_8400.JPG

Other cakes in the chiller…all looked so good!! dsc_8359.JPGdsc_8363.JPGdsc_8380.JPGdsc_8381.JPGdsc_8383.JPGdsc_8384.JPG dsc_8376.JPG

We were not able to try their food as we already ate our lunch but looking at the tables beside us, the food looked really good and their portions are big.  So it is really value for money!   Looking forward to trying them next time

The Fat Skillet

By | Foodie | One Comment

After our Easter party in Payatas, we passed Fat Skillet which was on the way home.  Apple, another one of my enterprising Paulinian friends, had invited me to come over to her restaurant.  She and her husband own the place and her husband, Jesse, is the chef that does all the cooking for the restaurant.

We had a great meal!  More power to FAT SKILLET!!
