Thanks Elbert for tutoring me on my new iMac.

( Yes, yes it is Elbert of Elbert’s Steakroom.  )

And thanks to my husband for introducing me to one of the greatest inventions.

I asked Elbert if I could share his services at Heart2Heart so more people can learn the joys of using a Mac. What would we do without you Elbert??

From Elbert….

I charge P2,000 for each session, which lasts between 2 to 3 hours each.

The first session is called Mac Fundamentals and is the most essential. I do not recommend skipping that. Even the most seasoned Mac users appreciate the first lesson.

After that are the the follow up sessions, which can either be a review of the first lesson, or tutorials on other Apple applications. The rate sessions is just like the first one, P2,000 for every 2 to 3 hours.

Most of my students prefer it be unstructured and we just cover what we can along the way. The number of lessons depends on the student. Some settle for just one or two, others go for as much as a dozen lessons.

I cover only Apple applications (OS X, Finder, iLife, iWork). Professional applications like Adobe Photoshop and Apple Aperture, I don’t teach.

As part of my services, I do help desk services over the telephone or via email. Of course, I can also help on some technical stuff like wireless setups and the like.

As for schedules and venue, I can go to my clients, especially if they use a desktop, or they can come to me at my resto. I prefer late morning or early afternoon, so usually, sessions 11am to 1pm or 1pm to 3pm.

Hai Shin Lou

By | Foodie | One Comment

I have never been to Hai Shin Lou before but they say it is newly renovated. This has been Dad’s craving for the past weeks.  After having the “pitik pitik”  in Victoria City Seafood Restaurant, Dad has been wanting to eat it over and over.  They have it here in the Philippines and bigger in size, though the one in Victoria’s is still different, this is a good alternative.  And Hiro was right, it is called Sea Mantis.  I would recommend the fresh seafood from Hai Shin Lou.hai-shin-lou-book1.jpghai-shin-lou-book2.jpgLook for Ben, the manager……hai-shin-lou-book3.jpghai-shin-lou-book4.jpghai-shin-lou-book5.jpgThe Sea Mantis – fresh from the tankhai-shin-lou-book6.jpg  hai-shin-lou0001.jpghai-shin-lou0002.jpg

Silid Sining Workshop Recital

silid-sining-workshop-recital-book1.jpg

Congratulations Pinky on your recital for your Silid Sining Workshop Musical Theater!  I hope you continue to do what you are doing- bringing out the best in the kids and helping them pursue their talents in dance and music.

It was so nice to see children of different ages performing together and enjoying.  Mariza and David had a great time.

As Pinky said, the most important thing that the kids can get from the workshop is building their self esteem and confidence…….. and if you achieve this, then you have done your job.

What also struck me was Anton, a handicapped little boy, who was joining the workshop.  Seeing him participate and do what all the other kids were doing proves that anyone can do anything as long as you try and as long as you believe in yourself, have the courage, and know that anything is possible.

Heart2Heart was able to watch one of the classes.  They were rehearsing that day for their recital.

Opening Remarks and The National Anthem sang by Pinky silid-sining-workshop-recital-book8.jpg

Invocation by Rach and Rebecca.  They had such angelic voices!  Lori told me that she cries whenever she hears her kids sing.

Thanks to Cecile Zamora Van Straten for inviting us to their new restaurant.  Another STEAK CONCEPT!    We enjoyed the whole experience.  Once again, the Japanese have not failed us.

I got this from my friend, Gloria. I asked her if Heart2Heart could help Mitch find a home for her kittens.

These kittens are 2 month old pure persians with champion parentage (maternal ) they are doll faced not flat faced which makes them more desirable as they are not prone to the diseases of the flat faced variety. They are long coated and squirrel tailed again a desirable trait. There is 1 male (orange ), 2 females ( pure white and calico ) they have been dewormed and are litter trained, healthy, eat dried food and are used to being bathed weekly. Asking price is 6k neg.

Meat Plus

By | Foodie, Travel | 3 Comments

In 1992, during the height of duty free shopping in Subic,  Meat Plus was selling only frozen steaks.    In 1994, they added toys to their line up.  Then in 1996, Tita Apples had the idea of grilling the steaks for the customers.  She started off with just a home griller and a rice cooker.  They charged $ 1.00 as a cooking charge.  In the year 2000, they opened TENDER BOBS in Manila which is also a steak place but a bit more upscale.  They now have 3 locations.  In 2008, they are still in Subic and doing very well!  They must be doing something right.

We always pass by Meat plus but never get to eat there because it is always full.  I guess it is full because it is good food at a very reasonable price.  Value for money.  But this trip, we decided to use our connections and make a reservation with one of the owners, Tita Apples.  And Thanks to Tito Paquito and Tita Pinky ( owners also ) who were there that day for watching over us and for making sure we had their yummy dessert. We enjoyed our lunch!  meat-plus-book1.jpg

Notice how full the place is.  Even the take out counter has long lines! Tito Paquito said that during weekends it is always full but they are noticing now that even weekdays, it is also getting full.  Steaks are really the “in” thing now but at MEAT PLUS, it started many years ago.meat-plus-book2.jpgmeat-plus-book3.jpg

You can buy your steak and have it cooked.meat-plus-book4.jpg

This was the rib eye. Very good!!meat-plus-book5.jpgmeat-plus-book7.jpgmeat-plus-book6.jpgmeat-plus-book8.jpg

We asked the waiter for a recommendation and he said that the MEAT PLUS Burger was the bestseller.  So almost everyone ordered this.  It was a very simple looking burger but it was really good.  And for the price of P 110.00  ONLY!  It is a double burger with cheese in the middle! YUMMY!!!  You can just line up and take this out if you prefer to take it home.   It also has a meal which comes with drinks and french fries for P 160.00.   meat-plus-book9.jpgmeat-plus-book10.jpgmeat-plus-book11.jpgmeat-plus-book12.jpgmeat-plus-book13.jpgThe desserts were really good!!!!!!!! Make sure to order it ala mode. The ice cream was so good, I forgot to ask what it was.  The Mango caramel!!!! Yum! and the Apple pie ala mode!  meat-plus-book14.jpgmeat-plus-book15.jpgmeat-plus-book17.jpgmeat-plus-book18.jpgmeat-plus-book19.jpg
