My Morning with Lolo

By | Foodie, Health and Fitness | 4 Comments

I love love spending time with my Lolo.  One morning I came early enough ( 7am )  to have breakfast with him.  My Lolo is not only Ambassador but to me he is King!  Because everyone around him pampers and takes care of him 🙂

my-morning-with-lolo-06.jpg

How nice the sounds of the lovebirds.  We had them as our background for breakfast 🙂

my-morning-with-lolo-010.jpglovebirds-in-lolos-house.JPG

Wow!! We actually had a breakfast menu!!  Conchita came to me and asked me what I wanted for breakfast.  I was hoping I could have everything on the list! haha!!  Lolo checked the things he liked 🙂

my-morning-with-lolo-07.jpgmy-morning-with-lolo-012.jpgmy-morning-with-lolo-04.jpg

And this was mine! WOW! I loved it! This is Lucban longganisa from Bacolod. Yum with garlic rice and quesong puti!  I had that quesong puti cooked a little bit more

my-morning-with-lolo-08.jpg

After breakfast we went around the house to visit Lolo’s other pets – his turtles, more birds and his doves.  He built cages and houses for them

my-morning-with-lolo-01.jpg

At 9am we went to Polo Club gym for his workout with the best personal trainer, Ned 🙂  Thanks to my cousin Nina for arranging this.  Lolo was so excited for his workout – he kept asking what time his workout was and so we left earlier than schedule

Bicep curls! My Lolo is so strong!  He is 91 years old and believe me – he is very strong and very sharp!  I feel so guilty I now have to workout harder! haha

Lolo stretching after an hour workout.  He told me he could do another 30 minutes!!  WOW!!  He is already looking forward to his next workout 🙂  Thank you Ned for watching over Lolo’s health

Auction for Action: UNICEF Philippines and Daphne Oseña Paez bring together Filipino artists for children

In celebration of the 20th year of National Children’s Month, UNICEF Philippines presents UNICEF Auction for Action, an online auction to benefit children in the Philippines and worldwide (find out how to join the auction).

For the second time, this online auction brings together more than seventy pieces of work from admired artists in design, furniture, art and jewelry for a good cause. Curated and presented by UNICEF Special Advocate for Children Daphne Oseña Paez, the online auction is a product of UNICEF and Daphne’s collaboration to bring the world of art, furniture and design together with her advocacy on children.  “Whenever I go to the field with UNICEF, I am heartened to see that we are doing a lot to improve children’s lives all over the Philippines. But there is always more to do; that’s why I support UNICEF.”

To celebrate the 20th year of Children’s Month this October – the only annual national celebration that puts children’s rights center stage for all Filipino children – the theme for this year’s auction is the right of children to play.  “Playing is a basic right of every child, and its importance to a child’s well-being and healthy development cannot be over-emphasized.   It also lends itself well as a theme for our premiere artists to work with,” adds Daphne.

UNICEF’s Auction for Action offers art lovers and collectors from all over the Philippines, the chance to bid for high quality items at discounts starting at 40% off. Items such as the Bloom from designer Kenneth Cobonpue, Fly Up from artist Michael Cacnio and a golden strand of South Sea Pearls from Jewelmer will be offered from October 1-7 only. The highest bidders win the item on offer.

Kenneth Cobonpue’s iconic “Bloom” chair.

“Buy a beautiful item, and help children at the same time, what could be better? Many people don’t realize that UNICEF relies entirely on voluntary donations from individuals, companies and governments and the funds raised from the auction will go towards education, health and nutrition, protection and emergency programs for children who are the hardest to reach and most in need,” said UNICEF Country Representative Tomoo Hozumi.

Homemade Mexican Dinner

By | Foodie | 3 Comments

After 12 years, we let go of our cook 🙁  In our search for a replacement, we stumbled into an applicant who apparently used to work for my parents in the 70’s and she had recently retired from her job at the Mexican Embassy!  So to test her abilities, I asked her to prepare a Mexican dinner for me and my friends.  I invited my close friends so that even if it does not taste good, they will still be my friends!  haha!! We were all guinea pigs that evening.  Here is Virgie our cook. She is so shy so it was hard to take her photo 🙂 I hired her for the day and she came and prepared our dinner.  Thank you Virgie for preparing for us a yummy Mexican dinner

A Playful Fashion Sense with Neck & Neck

By | Fashion, For kids, What's New at Rustan's | No Comments

Heart2Heart missed this cute fashion show!  But thanks to my cousin, Catherine Tantoco Huang, for sharing the beautiful photos.  I missed my nephews and nieces modelling in the fashion show!! The kids all look so happy and glowing in their Neck & Neck outfits 🙂

Manila’s young fashionistas can now enjoy the latest styles from the Spanish fashion house for children NECK & NECK. In line with the celebration of the Spanish festival, NECK & NECK opens its doors to Manila with their exclusive partnership with Rustan’s.

The event was led by owners Maria and Eduardo Zamacola as they launch their first store in Asia. A colorful fashion show at Rustan’s Makati showcased the latest collection of NECK & NECK.

neck-and-neck-040.jpgneck-and-neck-036.jpg

Known as one of the leading brands in children’s fashion, NECK & NECK is now present in 12 countries and has its own exclusive designs and trends that take on a worldly inspiration.

The brand debuts their latest collection exclusively at Rustan’s, presenting pieces full of color and variety.

neck-and-neck-05.jpgneck-and-neck-07.jpgneck-and-neck-09.jpgneck-and-neck-015.jpgneck-and-neck-031.jpgneck-and-neck-045.jpeg

A wide range of colorful and original floral prints, checks and tie print dominated the runway. Vivid colours such as apple green or red, blended with mauves, blues and pinks, whilst earth colours run into orange tones. Romantic designs with embroidered details, trimmings and stripes, enhanced with a wide selection of accessories to match.

Some of Neck & Neck’s new designs are also inspired by France, the English Countryside or the cosmopolitan cities of Tokyo and New York. The resulting collection has a very international air, in-keeping with the brand’s spirited vibe much like the children they design for.

Most of the pieces embody a casual and laid-back statement anchored with very detailed and different toned embroidery, lending the garments a slightly hippy look but at the same time very well finished. Accessories complemented each look making it unique and perfect for a special occasion or a fun play date.

The different mix of materials give a casual and fresh look to the collection. Popular trends for this season are Poplins and Oxford for all in ones and shirts, twills for skirts, and Bermudas and trousers. These are just some of the various materials prominent this season together with corduroy, flannel and wool.

 neck-and-neck-042.jpegneck-and-neck-043.jpeg

As a novelty and for the first time, Neck & Neck also launches a separate line from its main collection: NECK & NECK SPORT, available in the company’s stores and online at www.neckandneck.com. This is an elaborated sports line for children where you can find garments with unique details such as large checks, washed cotton t-shirts with crochet detailing, polo shirts combined with different fabrics and patterns. In addition, they also have sweatshirts, trousers and lightweight sports jackets suitable for different times of the day.

Rustan’s Executive Vice President Anton Huang also graced the event with wife Nina Huang.
