Sabado’s Handicrafts Baguio City

By | Finds, Travel | 3 Comments

For many years, we have been visiting Sabado’s to look for pieces for our homes.  Whenever in Baguio, we pass by to see what they have.  If ever you see these type of things in Manila, they will probably be 3 times the price!  So you might want to check this out.  They can even deliver to Manila

This is Greg, the owner.  He used to have long hair and a beard- now he is clean cut and looking younger 🙂

img_6357.jpg

He has rare sizes of wood – i hope you can see the long wooden table leaning on the wall.  It’s one piece of wood and will be made for a table.  It’s sold already so it was set aside

Another table top from a single piece of wood – it reaches the roof

Then you go down where he has chairs, tables and other pieces of wooden things

New Year New Fashion

By | Fashion, What's New at Rustan's | No Comments

A bright 2011 is up ahead! With the New Year’s celebration also come the latest trend for the season from Rustan’s that will make each style savvy start the year right.

It is another year to don new fashion as women play with different colors and silhouettes. Classic looks are brightened up and made more glamorous apparent in Halston Heritage’s latest designs.

09.jpg010.jpg011.jpg012.jpg013.jpg014.jpg

Season after season, the sophisticated gentleman on the other hand prefers the dapper statement. If it is the classic and sleek that men are after, Ermenegildo Zegna’s top notch ensembles make a gentleman out of any chap matched with Vacheron Constantin’s inimitable timepieces that spruces up the look.

One of the top fashion choices also include a selection of pants from Perry Ellis and Black Label Homme. Hacket also presents its latest collection ranging from pants, long sleeved tops, cardigans and ties. Homegrown brand Faconnable also has shirt designs that can be dressed up and down depending on the occasion.

Renowned brand Nicole Miller gets every woman ready for the evening like their black and nude dress design that speaks of sophistication

alongside Tadashi Shoji’s play on metallic colors perfect for cocktails. For a more relaxed cocktail look for intimate gatherings, Laundry’s play on a myriad of colors and patterns make them a top choice like their stunning black and white tube dress that carries a design pattern to make a statement. The red carpet look requires the intricacy of Roberto Coin’s Cento and Fantasia collections with their exclusive jewelry design and play on precious stones and diamonds. A more subtle approach on the other hand is Noah Barcelona’s diamond designs that complete a classic look.

Luna’s pieces then again are made easy to mix and match like the multicolored skirt paired with a basic purple top for a fancy night out. And even in simplicity, any lady can catch attention donning dresses from FCUK. Their form fitting cuts are flattering with subtle accents that make it more elegant. Accents to complete each look range Carla Amorim’s elaborate designs or Nicole Whisenhunt’s one-of-a-kind pieces to match any fashion statement.

For the first time, we had Bryan Flannery rib eye steaks misono ( teppanyaki ) style!  As expected, it was very good!!!

Mons Romulo-Tantoco in the Philippine Tatler January 2011 Issue

By | Hot Off the Press | 3 Comments

I am definitely getting a copy of the latest issue of Philippine Tatler!  And to Mons, you are so beautiful and really blooming!!  I can’t wait to read more

 th_hearts_22thumbnail.jpgth_hearts_22thumbnail.jpgth_hearts_22thumbnail.jpg

The first issue of the Philippine Tatler for 2011 looks back as well as forward. As we embark on the second decade of the new millennium, we feature the global events that happened in the past 10 years and how they have changed the world as well as the way we live our lives today

On our cover, for the first time, is Mons Romulo-Tantoco, a woman of style and substance. The daughter of Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo and his wife Lovely, Tantoco is a civic leader as well as a champion of causes close to her heart. Read about the exciting, positive new phase in her life and see her at her beautiful best, styled by none other than her friend, the chic international accessories and furniture designer Tina Maristela-Ocampo and photographed by lens man extraordinaire Paolo Pineda while on location at Tagaytay.

jan10-covermonstantoco.jpg

Looking to the future, we have a story on young, high-achieving students of the British School Manila who all have what it takes to become the leaders of tomorrow. In line with this, we have a roundup of the most prestigious boarding schools around the world.

This month we also interview the always-glamorous Bonnie Gokson, one of Asia’s style icons who will not simply rest on past laurels. She talks about her latest endeavour, the hugely successful Hong Kong restaurant, Sevva.

Don’t forget to look at some eye candy with our feature on the eternally elegant brand, Bulgari,  and read our travel guide on where to go for the coming year.

The January 2011 issue of the Philippine Tatler is now available in fine bookstores nationwide.

Eve’s Garden

By | Foodie, Green, Travel | 4 Comments

Thanks to Neng for telling us about this place!!!! Though it has been in existence for ten years already, we only heard about it now.   We all loved it!!  In the beginning they were complaining that it was a bit far, around 30 minutes from the city, but when we got there, we enjoyed it! It’s all about being able to experience something different, something unique, meeting different kinds of people, doing different kinds of things…. discovering.  I am so glad my family is adventurous because I am! 🙂

Mom and I loved the flowers on the gate

img_6017.JPG

So she asked me to take her photo with the gate! 🙂 My beautiful and fashionable mom!

img_6019.jpgimg_6020.JPGimg_6021.JPG

A nice and cozy place which can probably sit 20 people

img_6029.jpgimg_6132.jpgimg_6133.jpgimg_6128.JPGimg_6135.JPGimg_6041.JPG

Eve’s Garden has a set menu ( P 650.00 per person ) and she said it has been the same for the past 10 years!

Glass of Juice made of freshly squeezed pineapple juice with lemon mint and sage sweetened with mascovado sugar

img_6033.JPG

Soup made with a base of onions and squash with seven herbs garnished with parmesan cheese croutons and yogurt

img_6043.JPG

Salad Platter made of eight lettuce varieties served with carrots, turnips, walnuts and raisins and a ceasar type dressing made from organic flax oil, olive oil and sunflower oil prepared with seven fresh garden herbs

This was the highlight of our meal!!!  We were all amazed at this salad!  Heart2Heart took like 20 photos of this salad from all angles!!   The flowers are edible and we ate them!!  It was a big portion so we could not finish it ( except for my brother Quito 🙂 )

It’s a beautiful work of art just how it was prepared and made!!!!

 img_6053.JPGimg_6055.JPG

The dressing was really good, we all loved it.

img_6050.JPG

The server taught us how to eat the salad.  You have to get a lettuce and put the raisins, nuts, veggies inside

img_6056.JPG

Then dip it in the sauce and eat it!  YUM!

img_6058.jpg

Main course choice of

Steamed Norwegian salmon with caper dressing with organic rice and turnips

img_6072.JPG

After our delicious and healthy meal, Eve came out as per request of Javier!  He wanted to meet her!

img_6075.jpgimg_6077.jpg

And we requested for a tour of her Green house where she grows all her lettuce!!

img_6101.JPGimg_6102.JPG

This is how they grow the lettuce, first plant them for 15 days

img_6110.JPG

Then transfer them into pots for another 15 days

Water them 🙂

img_6112.JPG
