Christmas at Yabu at SM Aura

By | Cheese, Christmas, Foodie | One Comment

Arlene took us out but I chose the place! 🙂  I am so happy to be with these ladies – Arlene, Mayet and Eds.  We chose to have brunch so that was 10am and the best time to be in a restaurant because it is not crowded and we had the place all to ourselves till around 1130am and fully crowded by 1230pm

I chose Yabu!

Love love this place and I am so happy it’s in Makati!!!!

yabu-at-sm-aura-3.jpeg

I have been wanting to try the best tonkatsu in the house!  So we had the Kurobota.  Eds wanted curry so we asked them to put the curry sauce on the side.  So nice to know they have brown rice too now.    And now everything is unlimited!! In the sets you can order anything on the tray again and again 🙂  Though I cannot finish more than what is there 🙂  I just like the fact that you have the option to have more of something you like berkshire-pork-yabu-house.JPG

And I wanted to try this too!!!!

Katsu with cheese inside!!! YUMMY!!! Its ground pork and beef so it’s like a burger type

Chicken katsu set for Mayet

I love the restroom! It has all these posters of different quotes, tweets, quotes from blogs and I saw Chuvaness! 🙂

The place was so full when we were leaving at around 1230pm and we screamed when we saw Lisa and Margie in the outside seating!!  So happy to see them!!

Two days later, my brother, Quito, sent me this!!  He saw it in Yabu in Megamall!! The first branch! I was so so touched! I love John and Peachy for always making me feel important 🙂 I am so happy Yabu is so successful and you are both successful! 🙂  Merry Christmas!!

Christmas Hams

By | Christmas, Foodie | 2 Comments

Here are some of the Christmas hams that I know of.  If there are other yummy hams there I would appreciate it if you would let me know so I can add them to my list 🙂

You can never go wrong with Jamon!  It’s a family favorite and available in Rustan’s.  I put here the ham pages from the Traditions Catalog of Rustan’s

I am not really a ham person until I tasted this!  We received this as a gift and we had it a few days ago and wow!!!

wildflour-pork-belly-ham-975.jpg

As the instruction says, slice it as thick as a finger – so it is like a bacon slab and wow! YUMMY!!  It’s a pork belly ham!  And the Parkson rolls that come with it are also very good!!

I saw this on their facebook page and it looks good too with sliced pears

Qatar Airways

By | Foodie, Travel | One Comment

We took Qatar Airways from Madrid via Doha.  This was our first time to take Qatar Airways and wow, we did not expect such an experience!  Everything that I thought was missing in a flight experience was addressed!  And I realized that there are quite a few of them and yet each detail was taken cared of

The leg room felt like First Class, they had a front pocket to house my laptop bag ( not only my laptop ), compartment for shoes when you change to airline slippers, compartment for the magazines and other paper products and a compartment for the menu and other more things beside you

qatar-airways-7a.JPG

This tops it all!  Each seat had its own cooler for bottled water! And I liked the signature drink that they had, If I remember correctly it was lychee with lemon and basil

qatar-airways-a-7.JPG

We got three sets of amenities!!  The first half of the flight we got a toiletry bag with Salvatorre Ferragamo toiletries.  Another pouch with the other amenities – toothbrush, blinders, earplugs, socks and hairbrush.  On the second half of the flight we got an additional pouch which had a pajama set!  We never got that in Business Class, what I know is they give that in First Class.

qatar-airways-6.JPG

The bathroom was very spacious!! And what I liked was the sink works by sensor!  I wish they did this in all airlines.  They also provide disposable refreshing towels

qatar-airways-8.JPG

When we arrived in Doha, we had to take a bus – it was no ordinary bus!  Take note that someone was smiling 🙂  The bus had special chairs which makes that short trip from the plane to the terminal more comfortable!  It’s all in the details!

qatar-doha-lounge-2.jpeg

Qatar Airways has their own transfer terminal where all their transit passengers in Business Class and First Class are housed.  It’s not only the lounge but they have a store for duty free shopping, so don’t worry! 🙂

 qatar-doha-lounge-5.jpeg

The First Class and Business Class passengers have a separate lounge though they have common areas like the nursery, cloak room

qatar-doha-lounge-1a.jpeg

and the Games room!!  I have never seen a games room like this!  I think many kids will enjoy it here

qatar-doha-lounge-3a.jpeg

So happy to bump into friendly faces!! Raj and Kai who are on their way to Northern Spain!! We wanted to go back with them 🙂

img_4533.JPG

The lounge is spacious and was quite full but it was still comfortable.  And they spoil you with so much food and drinks.  It’s like Spirals and Circles buffet! 🙂  They even had a tea bar ala TWG 🙂

And the dining experience is something else!

The menu comes in a leather cover

img_4413.JPG

I missed this note inside the menu but if you will read it carefully – you can order anything in the menu in ANY ORDER and AT ANYTIME!  I did not know this at first.  When I looked at the menu I asked the stewardess which one I could order because usually it says CHOICE OF or OR.  I was shocked when she said YOU CAN ORDER ANYTHING!  I had to clarify and ask her again because I could not believe it 🙂  Normally there is a choice and then many times they will tell you – it’s only the beef left and you end up getting the meal that no one wanted to order!  Then James and I have to choose a different dish so we can try both.  With this feature- who cares what he orders! haha!!  So this feature is a very important feature to me! 🙂  We were happy the food was good, but the concept that they offer is for me SERVICE at its FINEST really.  All the stewardess are so nice.  The purser was Filipina and she was great, I wanted to take her photo but she said it was not allowed

La Barraca

By | Foodie, Travel | One Comment

We met up with a friend, Sandra, who lives in the city.  We went to another favorite, La Baracca.  Very touristic but we love the paella the way they serve it so we do not have to bother to experiment

Paella Valenciana! YUM!  When we were students in Madrid, we would save up our allowance and celebrate in La Baracca

Make sure to order the Baked Alaska.  Order it already at the start of the meal

We went outside Madrid, around 20 minutes away to visit some friends in Majadahonda.  They took us to this restaurant in the neighborhood.  We enjoyed very much!

One more stop before finally going home!  We passed by Madrid!!  And our first evening there, we went to one of our favorites!  Heart2Heart likes lamb, most especially the chuletitias.  Dad and Mom also always goes here, so even the head waiter recognized them and vise versa

El Mosquito

By | Foodie, Travel | No Comments

As I said, we went further than where we were staying 🙂  From Baiona we travelled around 30 to 40 minutes to go to Vigo to have lunch.  We went to Plaza dela Piedra where there is a row of tapa bars

We did not eat there, instead we walked up some stairs and went to El Mosquito.  A popular shellfish restaurant
