The Four Seasons Bangkok

By | Accomodations, Foodie, Travel | No Comments

Heart2Heart was so happy to be back in Bangkok after a long time.  From Chiang Mai, we stayed a few days in Bangkok.  The Four Seasons hotel is centrally located – you can walk to the malls- Paragon, Central World and Siam Discovery –  for a few blocks or for just a short walk you have access already to the MTR

The Pancake House Chronicles by Ria de Jesus Campos

By | Foodie | 4 Comments

Since Pancake House is a regular Saturday affair, I have asked my niece, Ria, to document our last family dinner there.  Just so there is a different tone and angle to our dinner 🙂 Take note, I am like Dina we both like the spaghetti so we love that new tub of spaghetti sauce!

Every Saturday, we go mass in CSA with Dada.

csa.JPG

We used to go to different places after mass but we would always have a hard time deciding where to go. One Saturday someone chose Pancake House (on Pasong Tamo Extension) and it turned out to be a winner, lots of food choices for everyone and Pancake House is always yummy!

pancakehouse-origami-ria.jpg

So it’s become our Saturday tradition. The staff knows us and always reserves the same two tables for us every week (without us calling).

reserved-table-pancake-house.jpg

One of the great things of Pancake House is that there’s so many yummy things to choose from. Then it’s always the perpetual problem of- do i want a pancake/waffle or something with rice or spaghetti? But, it’s pretty cool how we’ve sort of solved that problem.

Choose what you want to eat first, like real food. So one big decision first- tapa

pancake-house-tapa.jpg

or longganisa or tocino?

longganisa-pancake-house-ria.jpg

We have had moments of Uncle James and Uncle John ordering the same thing. Here they are both eating tocino.

pancake-house-dinner-011.jpg

Then Mama always wants to get her spaghetti and shares with Papa. But, there’s something new- you can make Pancake House Spaghetti at home now with their mix! (please note that is one of the regular waiters we have, hi eric! he knows how to pose too)

pancake-house-dinner-013.jpgpancake-house-dinner-014.jpgpancake-house-spaghetti-sauce.jpeg

Dada always gets his usual of the set with spaghetti and burger steak.  Then Ramon and Javier usually are the wild cards and order different stuff depending on their mood.

pancake-house-dinner-06.jpg

I always get a taco and we all eat it as a salad. (Randomly you have to try it with vinegar, I know it sounds weird but it works if you like vinegar, I learned that from my friends Maica and Sophie)

pancake-house-taco.jpgpancake-house-taco-salad.jpg

So, we still have not solved the pancake/waffle issue which we did not order yet- there’s a quick solution to that- we order it for dessert and share:) But of course, it’s always difficult to   narrow it down and we have a short debate- do we want the pancakes or a waffle?!

pancake-house-waffle.jpg

Then, we still have to break it down to what kind or pancake/waffle.

Uncle James and I like the chocolate chip pancakes

pancake-house-peanutbutterpancake.jpg

Ramon and Uncle John like the bacon waffle.  Dada always gets a share with lots of syrup and butter!

dadaspancake.JPG

What makes going to Pancake House something to look forward to every week, aside from to good food is getting to see everyone and have an extra meal together for the week. It used to just be the four of us and Dada and Uncle John. Usually, Uncle Mike joins us before his dinner.  But because it’s become a routine- what’s pretty cool is that anyone who is free for dinner on Saturday shows up. Please see Tita Rica’s blog wherein almost all the de Jesus’ are included (but since I was absent, I get to do this special guest blog)

Previous entry:  Pancake House with Dada December 22, 2012

So far the best Saturday dinner I think I’ve had was  in December when the de Jesus clan invaded Pancake House:)

and because I was absent in the last Pancake House blog, I asked Tita Rica to take my picture with Dada:)

Omakaze at Sensei Sushi

By | Foodie | 3 Comments

Heart2Heart is so so happy to be back at Sensei Sushi. We normally have a hard time repeating a restaurant or going back to the same one and not to mention all the way to BF Homes which is far from us, but I am addicted to something that he puts in his food 🙂  it must be the mixture of his secret sauces which I like and can’t get anywhere else

Previous entry:  Sensei Sushi Bar by Chef Broosy December 18, 2012

It was a good thing Chef Broosy said yes to my call and accepted our last minute reservation that day. I gave him only 5 hours notice.  I asked Dad and Mom to come and try – we came from the North, from Subic early morning and we went to the South to have a 3 hour Omakaze meal 🙂 From 715pm to around 1030pm we were there having a 16 course meal.  Poor dad and mom who sleep early – it was a good thing they enjoyed 🙂  It was worth it.

We first sat in the bar as prepared by Chef Broosy but became too tight when James arrived so we transferred to a table.  The restaurant was full and people kept coming in and some waited outside

This was my request which I told Chef to put in our Omakaze – Wagyu Beef Tataki – unfortunately since we informed him very late, he did not have the shaved foie gras.  But it was still good

The menu which Chef explained to me are his popular dishes which used to be specials on the board.  He has chosen the best sellers of his menu and put them on this regular menu

New specials on the board – some of the dishes here were part of the Omakaze we had

omakaze-at-sensei-sushi-04.jpgomakaze-at-sensei-sushi-05.jpg

Since James and Edward were not counted for the Omakaze, they had to order ala carte – but of course we still shared with them our Omakaze
