High Tea for Mom

By | Celebrations, Decor and Set ups, Foodie | 12 Comments

A week before Mom’s birthday we celebrated already since we knew Mom was leaving.  We wanted to give her a dose of her own medicine!!  She always takes care of all of us and takes care of all the celebrations for the family,  so this time, we wanted to prepare something for her.

We thought of treating her to high tea in flower theme which she likes.   Each of us took care of something for the celebration

mom-invitation-high-tea.jpghigh-tea-for-mom1.jpgprogram-for-high-tea-for-mom.jpeg

Thank you to Fr. Julian or celebrating the Holy mass for Mom’s birthday.  He is a part of the family so we were happy he could celebrate with us

high-tea-for-mom2.jpghigh-tea-for-mom3.jpgprogram-for-high-tea-for-mom-04.jpg

Pam was our stylist and she gave the guidelines for the attire which was stripes for the guys ( though some came in plaid hmmm… 🙂  ) and floral for the girls…with a hat to go with the high tea event 🙂

Rustan’s Flower shop headed by my sister Maricar in collaboration with Tea with Madeleine set up the venue of our High Tea celebration

I was in charge of the food and contacted different caterers and we all voted for Farah to do it.  We all thought she was the perfect choice and though this was her first time to actually have a high tea event, the food was really delicious and perfect for the event.  Thank you Farah!!!

Margs, Krie and Pam – the sisters in law – were in charge of the program and they did such a good job!  Maricar and I are lucky we have amazing sisters in law to help us 🙂  I made a video ( unedited ) putting together some highlights of the program.  I felt that photos cannot replace many things that a video can capture.  Reactions, emotions, and just witnessing what really happened.  So I have it both in video and in photos

Jobim is so lucky to have persevering and supportive parents like Ricky and Wendy.  I don’t watch the show but my friend, Wendy, continously updates the family by text and through facebook the status of Jobim and they have really gone a long way.  I say they because I feel that Wendy has been just as involved as Jobim as she continous to accompany him and support him in this challenge

Jobim now has a fan page in facebook and his fans make beautiful pages of him 🙂

John told us that in one of his trips to Japan ( Osaka ) he and his kids tried a tonkatsu restaurant and loved it, so they wanted to bring it back here to the Philippines!!  John also told us about the Yabu experience

yabu-john-concepcion.jpgyabu-28.jpgyabu-27.jpgyabu-23.jpgyabu-22.jpgyabu-21.jpgyabu-20.jpgyabu-18.jpg

Love the shirts of the servers!!

yabu-tshirts-2.jpgyabu-tshirts.jpg

The secret lies in its fresh, quality ingredients and method of cooking that has been passed on by Chef Kazuya Takeda – head chef of Tonkatsu Takeshin, a popular tonkatsu restaurant in Tokyo.  Chef Takeda is Yabu’s expert consultant on all things katsu.

yabu-30.jpgchef-consultant-yabu.jpgyabu-6.jpgyabu-25.jpgyabu-24.jpg

A bowl of sesame seeds is presented to the diner with instructions to grind them.   The bowl has grooves on them to help grind the seeds.

Then you pour and mix the katsu sauce

Inagiku Buffet

By | Foodie, Hearty Deals | 4 Comments

On November 1,  most restaurants were closed since it was a holiday.  So you can rely on hotel restaurants to be opened on holidays and Heart2Heart is so happy that Mom chose Inagiku in Shangri-la Hotel Makati!  They had a Japanese buffet which is only during holidays and weekend lunches.  I have been hearing about this from my son, Jaime, who goes with his friends, but this is our first time to try it.  It has been ongoing for a little more than a year they said.  My Mom and I were talking and we came to a conclusion that a person can only eat a certain amount of food, so no matter how much ” ALL YOU CAN EAT” there is, you can only take what your stomach will accommodate.  This is really value for money for those who can eat a lot!! 🙂

I am posting this now so in case you have not tried it, you can try it already over the weekend!!!

 Inagiku Buffet Lunch

Weekends and Holidays from 11:30am to 2:30pm
