LEADING GLOBAL AND TEXTILE COMPANIES UNDER SSI  THAT HAVE SIGNED THE FASHION PACT

 

Several brands under the SSI Group, Inc., such as Salvatore Ferragamo and Ermenegildo Zegna have confirmed their commitment to protect the planet by joining The Fashion Pact, where major luxury brands, labels and companies set goals to reduce environmental impact in the fashion industry.

The Fashion Pact’s objectives draw on the Science-Based Targets (SBT1) initiative, targeting three key areas for safeguarding the planet:

Stop global warming: by creating and deploying an action plan for achieving the objective of zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, in order to keep global warming below a 1.5°C pathway between now and 2100.

Restore biodiversity: by achieving objectives that use Science-Based Targets to restore natural ecosystems and protect species.

Stop single-use plastics: by reducing the fashion industry’s negative impact on the world’s oceans through practical initiatives, such as gradually removing the usage of single-use plastics.

These commitments are designed to be embraced by every company involved and backed by cross-sector initiatives, along with the deployment of innovation accelerators.

Salvatore Ferragamo’s CEO, Micaela le Divelec Lemmi, and representatives of another 32 brands signed the Fashion Pact during a meeting at the Elisee with French President Emmanuel Macron, who has presented the initiative at the G7 Summit held in Biarritz from 24 to 26 August.

We are proud to be part of this initiative. Thanks to the Fashion Pact, for the first time, major fashion industry players are joining forces to take on the largest environmental challenges of our century,” announced Ferruccio Ferragamo, President of Salvatore Ferragamo.

Michael Kors is pleased to announce the release of a new Fall 2019 ad campaign for MICHAEL Michael Kors and Michael Kors Men’s, starring Bella Hadid and Austin Augie and shot in studio by legendary photographer David Sims.

Featuring action-packed, high-octane stills and video, the new campaign—dubbed “Hell on Wheels”—plays on the brand’s travel roots and the jet set lifestyle that has long inspired designer Michael Kors. “The original jet set of the ‘60s and ‘70s showed the world how to live a fast-paced life in the most glamorous way possible,” says Michael. “Today, between the Internet and all the ways that people move through the world, we’re constantly in motion, and I wanted the images to reflect that.”

The global campaign will debut in August, with print ads running in fall issues worldwide. The images will also appear in digital outlets, as well as social media platforms and traditional outdoor media placement.

This season is a mix-match of revamped classics — floral prints, graphic stripes, menswear materials and romantic silhouettes. Silhouettes: Fall/Winter 2019 reflects an effortless modernity with uncomplicated, relaxed silhouettes. Polished pieces — tailored trousers, structured loden coats, and classic blazers — balance billowy shapes. There is a refined magpie approach to layering — sporty parkas draped over evening gowns, a striped slip under a gauzy shirt dress.

Palette: Rooted in muted neutrals — crisp white, black and the brand’s signature navy — the collection is warmed up with earthy, autumnal hues of umber brown, deep red and cayenne. Pops of vibrant color — bright yellow and green — inject energy.

Prints & Patterns: Bold stripes, vivid paisleys and feminine florals play off one another to unexpected effect. A collage print blends archival photography and whimsical illustration.

Fabrications: Herringbones and checks are coolly classic, while crochet patches convey an understated nostalgia. Fluid ruffles and a print-on-pleat technique bring movement and dimension. Sequins and square-shaped paillettes add a rich luster. Deliberately unfinished embroideries are raw and imperfect, nodding to technical artistry of Anni Albers, a central figure at Black Mountain.

Accessories: The textural mix carries through to accessories. Loafers — a mélange of velvet, leather, and brass hardware—have a bookish sophistication while high-shine Mary Janes bring a retro girlish allure. The new advertising campaign for Gucci’s distinctive jewelry collection channels the spirit of freewheeling, carefree travel and possesses a playful, bohemian period mood that perfectly showcases the aesthetic of the designs.

Featuring long-standing friend of the House, musician, singer, songwriter and producer Florence Welch, is Gucci’s jewelry ambassador. Set in a retro style wooden wagon, overflowing with colourful furnishings and trinkets, Welch reclines on beds of cushions and decorative fabrics within, or sits outside dreamily peering out at the viewer, adorned in Gucci’s highly stylised rings, bracelets and necklaces.

Set-off beautifully by the colourful and evocative images, the pieces are principally from the Le Marché des Merveilles, Gucci Ouroboros, Gucci Flora and Dionysus fine jewelry collections and the House’s silver jewelry collection.
