Macau for Kids

By | Accomodations, Entertainment, For kids, Travel | 3 Comments

This is for my friend Michelle who is going to Macau soon.  This is what I have gathered in the short time I was in Macau. My kids are older kids already so I tried to gather what I saw and not really experienced them myself. So I may have missed others.

I recommend Macau for a short vacation with the kids because the city is so near Manila, it is beautiful especially with the Portuguese influence, it is very clean,  and it is so fun and entertaining!  Not only for kids but for people like me who don’t gamble 🙂  It was summer for the Chinese so there were many kids at the time we were there

I heard that the Venetian Hotel is kid friendly and they have big rooms for families.  The Venetian is also very central and that is where all the action and entertainment is.  Click below for more information and to see the different kinds of rooms

1.)  Go Hotel Hopping and see the elaborate displays in the lobbies and the shows.

Don’t worry about kids getting lost in casinos.  They are very very strict and will not let any kid go to the casino.  They were so strict that my Dad almost fought with the security!  haha!!  It was raining and we had not where to pass to get to the Lobby unless we got wet in the rain with the strong rain.  And we were rushing to leave for the airport after lunch.  We had to call Ralph to help us and he just gave in because he knew my Dad was already so so mad!

2.)  Fish Spa

I have not seen The House of Dancing Water but looks like something you should not miss.  Not sure if it is for kids

4.)   Kids Play Zone at the Venetian – I saw this while walking in the Venetian.  You can probably leave the kids here while the parents want some time for themselves 🙂

Hotel Shows at Macau

By | Entertainment, Travel | 2 Comments

Heart2Heart was so happy to be in Macau!  So fun and alive and just so many things to see and be entertained!

We caught the lobby show of the Galaxy Hotel and I wish I caught it on video

shows-at-macau-01.jpgshows-at-macau-02.jpgshows-at-macau-03.jpg

This was at our hotel, the Wynn.  Mom wanted us to see the Tree of Life which she saw before, but the theme had changed already from that time

Here it is on video

And here is the water show in the front of the Wynn which actually comes every hour or so and at night more often, I think every 15 minutes.  We take it for granted as this was the view from the room, so finally we really stayed and watched the show right in front and even got wet! 🙂

The House of Dancing Water Macau

By | Entertainment, Travel | One Comment

I wish we knew about this show so we could have bought tickets in advance.  We just saw the trailer when we arrived already in Macau and unfortunately we were not able to buy any tickets as they were all sold out.  See the one minute trailer and you will probably be convinced 🙂

ZAIA Cirque De Soleil at Macau

By | Entertainment, For kids, Travel | One Comment

Sure enough, Dad and Mom took us to see Cirque de Soleil in Macau.  They saw this already 3 times!  🙂  A nice show to see when in Macau.

You cannot really compare Cirque abroad to Cirque here in Manila because they really build a theater for Cirque and they expect the show to be there for years.  So the stage and the props and setting are really really more elaborate.

Dried Fish from Macau

By | Foodie, Travel | 2 Comments

Mom discovered this place through her readings and because she loved her first buy, she told me she had to go back to Macau to buy this dried fish.  I would not be surprised that is why we went to Macau!  There are quite a few vendors selling dried fish, but Mom says this is the BEST! ” It is not the same!!” She always tells me this when she is trying to prove a point to me.  She even said that people from Hong Kong come all the way to Macau to buy this dried fish.  Mom said to just eat it like tuyo or put it in your fried rice like the salted fish fried rice

The place is somewhere near Senado Square.  It is a bit difficult to use a car or taxi here because the street is a no stopping street.  But somehow we managed!

They give you the fish to smell….everyone smells it acting as if they can tell by smelling 🙂

he is so proud to show it and he also makes you smell it after cutting it 🙂

They pack it so well, you can pack it in your suitcase and it won’t smell 🙂 I will try to document one time how Mom cooks this

Tim’s Kitchen at Hotel Lisboa

By | Foodie, Travel | No Comments

There is the Grand Lisboa which is the new hotel and casino and there is the old Hotel Lisboa.  We had dinner in the old Hotel Lisboa where they had this very good Chinese restaurant. Also in the Michelin guide.

tims-kitchen-01.jpgtims-kitchen-020.jpgimg_4738.jpgtims-kitchen-021.jpgtims-kitchen-02.jpgtims-kitchen-03.jpgtims-kitchen-04.jpgtims-kitchen-07.jpgtims-kitchen-05.jpgtims-kitchen-08.jpg

They recommended the Crystal prawn, very expensive and it comes by piece.  It was a big prawn and it was really good

Grand Lisboa Macau

By | Travel | No Comments

Across our hotel ( Wynn ), is the Grand Lisboa which used to be the only Casino in Macau and owned by Stanley Ho.  He monopolized the industry for many years.   You can take an underground subway to cross the street to get to the Grand Lisboa

When you go to Macau, you see things which you cannot imagine exist and see it right before your eyes.  This is a 200 carat diamond which was encased in the lobby of the Grand Lisboa.  A 200 carat diamond D Flawless and Brilliant!!!! The photo didn’t come out clear

grand-lisboa-05.jpgimg_4516.jpg

And they had other precious things displayed in the lobby

Antonio, Macau

By | Foodie, Travel | No Comments

A popular place recommended by many.  One of the reasons I love Macau is because of its Portuguese influence.  I like Portuguese food because it is similar to Spanish in many ways.  This was our first dinner in Macau.  We were actually very full form lunch so we were not able to order too many dishes but we enjoyed our meal

antonio-01.jpgantonio-02.jpgantonio-045.jpgimg_4317.JPG

The place is very very small and you really have to make a reservation to make sure you get a seat.  Some people were knocking on the door who had no reservations and they had to be turned down

antonio-03.jpgantonio-06.jpgantonio-030.jpgantonio-05.jpg

Of course we felt at home because all of the dining staff are Filipinos! And we get special treatment 🙂  And true enough they told us many Filipinos come to Antonio to dine

For the cheese lovers out there, please please do not leave Antonio without having this dish!  Gratinated Goat’s Cheese with Olive Oil and Acacia Honey Served on Toast, Lettuce and Balsamic Vinegar. YUMMY!!

Of course Bacalao – this was the version with cream and cheese
