By | Hot Off the Press, Photography, Proud to be Pinoy!, Travel | No Comments

Heart2Heart is so happy to promote great advocacies, especially those promoting our very own! Thank you to Butch Jimenez for this great endeavor and for capturing the beauty of our country through your camera!

Summer is coming up and before making travel plans outside the country, why not choose among the many beautiful islands in the Philippines!!

Heart2Heart wants a copy of this calendar!!  Will be emailing Butch ASAP!

From  Butch Jimenez:

“My advocacy is simple : To trumpet to the world that the Philippines is the world’s best sandbox!

I give the calendars away for free and I’ve gotten requests from all over the world.  All your readers have to do is to email me ( butchgjimenez@yahoo.com ) and I’ll tell them how to get the calendar free. I don’t ask for payment in any shape or form. I just want people to know that the Philippines is the world’s best sandbox”

Mamma’s Table by Vicky Tinio Clemente

By | Foodie, Travel | 13 Comments

There are so many good reasons to go to Baguio nowadays!

One of the highlights of our Baguio vacation was our dinner at the home of Vicky Clemente! I heard about her from our good friend, Lindy.  What a memorable experience!

We spent our New Year family celebration here and it was a great idea!

mammas-table1.jpgmammas-table3.jpgmammas-table2.jpgimg_6723.JPGmammas-table5.jpg

As we were early, we enjoyed the  Board of dips, pate and bread with our champagne

mammas-table4.jpgimg_6663.JPG

You can bring your own wine, which we actually preferred to do

mammas-table24.jpgimg_6727.JPGmammas-table8.jpg

Vicky says she has no menu when people ask, because it depends what is in season and what she sees in the market.  She also will not tell you your menu as she wants it to be a surprise!  Heart2Heart loves surprises!!  We all enjoyed our 8 course degustation!!

Amuse bouche, an intermezzo, Fish course, another intermezzo, meat course, followed by a digestif and then dessert for P 1,250.00 + service charge

mammas-table9.jpgmammas-table10.jpgmammas-table11.jpgmammas-table12.jpgmammas-table13.jpgmammas-table14.jpgmammas-table15.jpgmammas-table16.jpg

Vicky went to culinary school ten years ago in the States

mammas-table17.jpg

For kids there is a 5-course meal ( at P 250.00 / person ) so they can enjoy a similar experience plus marshmallows and mini hotdogs to roast in the fireplace.

Drivers and Yaya’s eat free!! 🙂 mammas-table10.jpgmammas-table18.jpgmammas-table19.jpgmammas-table20.jpgmammas-table21.jpgmammas-table23.jpgimg_6707.JPGimg_6829.JPGmammas-table7.jpgimg_6719.jpg

Sabado’s Handicrafts Baguio City

By | Finds, Travel | 3 Comments

For many years, we have been visiting Sabado’s to look for pieces for our homes.  Whenever in Baguio, we pass by to see what they have.  If ever you see these type of things in Manila, they will probably be 3 times the price!  So you might want to check this out.  They can even deliver to Manila

img_6356.JPG

This is Greg, the owner.  He used to have long hair and a beard- now he is clean cut and looking younger 🙂

img_6357.jpg

He has rare sizes of wood – i hope you can see the long wooden table leaning on the wall.  It’s one piece of wood and will be made for a table.  It’s sold already so it was set aside

img_6361.JPG

Another table top from a single piece of wood – it reaches the roof

img_6362.jpg

Then you go down where he has chairs, tables and other pieces of wooden things

Everyday for lunch, we ate outdoors in the house in Baguio.  The weather is just so nice and perfect.

For the first time, we had Bryan Flannery rib eye steaks misono ( teppanyaki ) style!  As expected, it was very good!!!

Eve’s Garden

By | Foodie, Green, Travel | 4 Comments

Thanks to Neng for telling us about this place!!!! Though it has been in existence for ten years already, we only heard about it now.   We all loved it!!  In the beginning they were complaining that it was a bit far, around 30 minutes from the city, but when we got there, we enjoyed it! It’s all about being able to experience something different, something unique, meeting different kinds of people, doing different kinds of things…. discovering.  I am so glad my family is adventurous because I am! 🙂

img_6018.JPG

Mom and I loved the flowers on the gate

img_6017.JPG

So she asked me to take her photo with the gate! 🙂 My beautiful and fashionable mom!

img_6019.jpgimg_6020.JPGimg_6021.JPG

A nice and cozy place which can probably sit 20 people

img_6029.jpgimg_6132.jpgimg_6133.jpgimg_6128.JPGimg_6135.JPGimg_6041.JPG

Our table which has the best view in the house!

img_6032.JPGimg_6037.JPGimg_6035.JPGimg_6038.JPGimg_6039.JPGimg_6040.JPGimg_6034.JPG

Eve’s Garden has a set menu ( P 650.00 per person ) and she said it has been the same for the past 10 years!

Glass of Juice made of freshly squeezed pineapple juice with lemon mint and sage sweetened with mascovado sugar

img_6033.JPG

Soup made with a base of onions and squash with seven herbs garnished with parmesan cheese croutons and yogurt

img_6043.JPG

Salad Platter made of eight lettuce varieties served with carrots, turnips, walnuts and raisins and a ceasar type dressing made from organic flax oil, olive oil and sunflower oil prepared with seven fresh garden herbs

This was the highlight of our meal!!!  We were all amazed at this salad!  Heart2Heart took like 20 photos of this salad from all angles!!   The flowers are edible and we ate them!!  It was a big portion so we could not finish it ( except for my brother Quito 🙂 )

It’s a beautiful work of art just how it was prepared and made!!!!

 img_6053.JPGimg_6055.JPG

The dressing was really good, we all loved it.

img_6050.JPG

The server taught us how to eat the salad.  You have to get a lettuce and put the raisins, nuts, veggies inside

img_6056.JPG

Then dip it in the sauce and eat it!  YUM!

img_6058.jpg

Main course choice of

Steamed Norwegian salmon with caper dressing with organic rice and turnips

img_6060.JPG

Chicken breast with pesto fettuccine served with whole wheat buttered fingers

img_6064.JPG

Grilled tenderloin that has been soaked in saki strawberry wine, honey and herbs served with organic red rice, corn and turnips

img_6067.JPG

Choice of Coffee

img_6069.JPG

Or ginger ginseng with mint tea

img_6070.JPG

and a homemade dessert

img_6072.JPG

After our delicious and healthy meal, Eve came out as per request of Javier!  He wanted to meet her!

img_6075.jpgimg_6077.jpg

And we requested for a tour of her Green house where she grows all her lettuce!!

img_6082.JPGimg_6085.JPG

Going down the greenhouse

img_6087.JPG

Some herbs on the way down

img_6096.JPGimg_6097.JPGimg_6098.JPGimg_6106.jpg

WOW!!!! I wish I had this in my backyard so I can have salad everyday fresh from my garden 🙂

img_6101.JPGimg_6102.JPG

This is how they grow the lettuce, first plant them for 15 days

img_6110.JPG

Then transfer them into pots for another 15 days

img_6109.JPGimg_6107.JPG

Water them 🙂

img_6112.JPG

Then transfer them here! WOW!!

img_6118.jpgimg_6117.JPGimg_6119.jpgimg_6122.JPGimg_6124.JPGimg_6126.JPG

There was so much lettuce, we had to take home some, what a nice doggie bag 🙂
