Pecan Lodge

By | Foodie, Travel | No Comments

James wanted to find out why this place was in one of the top ten in Dallas!  So we went to the Dallas Farmer’s market.  After all we are in Texas and we want to try their BBQ 🙂

We went early because we read about the long lines and true enough there was already a line before opening time.  There are two lines, the one in front are for people who ordered in advance and are picking up, for people ordering

There’s James at the end of the line.  This is the only stall in the market thats busy!

The tall and handsome 🙂 owner was there himself!! Justin Fourton

Because we did not want to line up again we just ordered whatever! 🙂  and we were so hungry already 🙂

We are not expert bbq eaters, so we can’t tell if this is really the best but it was good 🙂  James wanted the burnt ends, but they ran out in just a few minutes after opening

Loved this resto bar in Dallas!!!

neighborhood-service-1.JPGabout-neighborhood-services-dalas.jpg

The only thing with restos that are also bars is that it’s dark and noisy!  Yes I am old! 🙂  But love the interiors of this place

Servers in uniform!  Preppie 🙂

Packing Cubes

By | Household Tips, Travel | No Comments

Heart2Heart loves packing cubes!  They make packing and unpacking simpler.  They also organise the things in a manner that you can understand and help you find things easier.  The beauty of it is as soon as you arrive in your destination, just pull them out of the luggage and then put them in the closet and drawers.  Unpacking done in one minute 🙂

packing-cubes-1.jpeg

I bought these in Daiso ( 100 yen shop ) in Harajuku, Tokyo.  I like it because it is PINK :-), very light and it is mesh.  P 45.00 for this set of 2 🙂  Some packing cubes are very bulky and heavy that when you put them all in a luggage, they can reach up to 5 to 10 pounds already and will take up your baggage allowance and we don’t want that! 🙂

A Resthouse in Tagaytay by Anna Sy

By | Homes and Interiors, Travel | One Comment

Aside from a lovely lunch, Margie took me to her resthouse in Tagaytay!!  She has been telling me about this place for years and finally I invited myself over! 🙂

Architecture is of course by her sister in law, Anna Sy

The Master Bedroom is on the main level

The room with the best view!

Same view from the master bathroom

The main level has the main entrance, the garden with pool, Master bedroom, living room and kitchen

View from the living room

Wow! The view is beautiful!!  And one thing with their house is that they are the only ones in the perimeter and it’s like they have the view all to themselves.  The house is in an exclusive gated village and in that village only two families have built so you can imagine!  The next four photos are all 4 angles of the view 🙂 From left to right

I tried to take a panoramic shot but this does not look as good as it really is

The pool which goes all the way from the balcony to the garden

The living room

My friend and lovely host 🙂

Beautiful artwork made by Margie’s mother in law

Straight ahead leads to the kitchen

Guest bathroom

Then the stairs going down to the rooms

It’s an open hallway leading to all the bedrooms- there are 4 which are almost all identical

From the lower level I was able to take the facade of the house

View from the lower level

From the garden facing the lower level

There’s a den here but it is the bedroom for the grandkids ( kids of Margie )

I just can’t get enough of the view! I could not believe it 🙂

Wow!!  Service kitchen!

Marcia Adams

By | Foodie, Travel | One Comment

Margie wanted to take me to a Vietnamese place in Tagaytay called Bawai, but it was closed that day so instead I suggested Marcia Adams since this was recommended to me by my friend, Randy.  Thanks to their directions in their Facebook page, it was easy to get there.  It’s actually very easy just turn right from the rotunda and go straight till you see the Thank you Come Again sign 🙂 ( border of Tagaytay and Alfonso )   then after that turn right

We loved the place!!!  They call themselves Tuscany in Tagaytay but for me I would like to think it’s a beautiful place in our very own country, the Philippinesmarcia-adams-4.jpeg

We heard a dog barking and apparently that was where their house was.  In the beginning they would only open their house for meals to friends and family in their house but soon after they decided to open to the public

marcia-adams-15.jpeg

Beautiful place.  Marcia did all the interiors and design in the place

marcia-adams-25.jpegmarcia-adams-6.jpeg

Love the floor tiles

marcia-adams-23.jpeg

marcia-adams-27.jpeg

There are two sides for dining – there is a Greek looking dining area

And this is the other side

We love it so much, I just had to take a photo of Margie by the flowers 🙂

And another dining area – this is where they sat us

marcia-adams-34.jpeg

Beautiful view!!!! I love this window!!! And no that is not Tuscany – this is Tagaytay 🙂  and it’s beautiful!!

marcia-adams-8.jpeg

Me and my date 🙂  Thank you my dear friend Margie for lunch!

marcia-adams-20.jpeg

marcia-adams-14.jpegmarcia-adams-2.jpeg

It was a weekday so the place was quiet.  This was our table, we had the room to ourselves till a couple came and joined us, but it was relatively very private.  We had a nice time!

marcia-adams-26.jpeg

The food is Mediterranean according to Neil Adams, the owner and husband of Marcia 🙂  At first the menu looks complicated but it’s actually very simple.  The complicated part is us wanting to try everything on the menu! 🙂 The price of your meal will depend on the main course that you choose.  There is a minimum cover charge per person of P 700.00.  The meal comes with a choice of a starter, then the main dish and then dessert.  There are additional charges for options such as salads or if you want to add sides or for some desserts

marcia-adams-11.jpegmarcia-adams-10.jpeg

Choice of Soup of the Day or Amalfi Prawns.   We both got the Amalfi prawns

marcia-adams-13.jpeg

For the main dish, Margie got the Beef tenderloin and bacon kebab!  YUM!!!

marcia-adams-16.jpeg

I had the Classic Shish Kebab – YUM!!!!!!

marcia-adams-1.JPG

We saw this in the kitchen and it looked so good!  Italian Pork Chop!!!! Randy told us to order this!!!  Another reason for us to come back!

marcia-adams-17.jpeg

For dessert

Fried bananas with Chocolate dip – How creative 🙂

marcia-adams-12.jpeg

Panna Cotta with Lemon sauce – beautiful and delicious 🙂

 panna-cotta-marcia-adams.JPG

Our bill which came in this pouch by Emily Campos

marcia-adams-19.jpeg

Neil Adams!! The owner and husband of Marcia Adams 🙂  He is also the one who bakes the bread.  He told us that he was supposed to retire but ended up working again when they opened the restaurant 🙂

marcia-adams-7.jpeg

I was very insistent to meet Marcia Adams and they kept telling me she was busy and she was!  She is really hands on and is the one cooking the meals in the kitchen downstairs.  I could not help it, I really asked and asked until they let me go to her and here she is!! She is such a simple and very soft spoken person!!  I told her that I loved her cooking and she told me she whispers to her food to make it taste good 🙂 More power Marcia Adams!!!

Back at Gourmet Garage Subic and happy to see this Putobumbong and bibingka booth right in front! 🙂

Perfect for breakfast or anytime during the day!  It does not have to be Christmas to have putobumbong and bibingka!  They make it fresh when you order!

New tables and chairs to accommodate the diners!  This is now my favourite spot in the place

Dried fish from Macau!

You can buy it by the weight or have it served.  This is how Chef Booj served it to us.  He shredded it and put it on top of a tomato omelette! YUM! and served it with Chinese sausage fried rice!!!

Gourmet Garage has the BEST condiment tray in the whole world!!  I am serious!

It has everything!  Where can you find a condiment tray that has olive oil, balsamic vinegar, Black truffle oil and pink Himalayan salt?

I love the serving of tea 🙂
