Elliot’s at the Borough Market

By | Foodie, Travel | No Comments

Upon arrival, we rushed right away to have lunch at the Borough market at Elliot’s.  We were invited by my cousin since this is one of her favorite spots in London

She ordered all the starters and we ordered the main

Buffalo mozzarella and red pepper and basil

Crab on toast

Crispy Duck and bacon salad

Artichokes ala qrecque

Ria recommended this so almost everyone ordered cheeseburger- so when it arrived – the dolly was full of cheeseburgers! 🙂

Beaufort House Knightsbridge

By | Accomodations, Travel | No Comments

From New York, we flew to London to visit the Queen!  oops, I mean to meet the Mayor 🙂  We stayed in Beaufort House which is a serviced apartment located two blocks away from Harrods 🙂

It’s an old building but inside it is renovated- the Lobby

We got a three bedroom since we were a big family – we could not even fit so one couple had to stay across in a hotel.  It’s nice because we can all stay together – and it has a living room, dining room and kitchen – and even laundry machine

This was our bedroom – I was not able to take the other two because it was not fixed at the time we arrived 🙂  The Master bedroom had its own bathroom and the two other shared one plus there was another guest bathroom

Halal Guys

By | Foodie, Travel | 2 Comments

The Foodie son told us to try this, so we did!  We lined up.

 the-halal-guys-1.jpg

He warned us that it is the Halal Guys with a line since there are many other stalls that look similar like this one beside the LOVE sign

This was the one across the MOMA on 53rd street

And yes there was a long line

I wanted a photo of all the Halal Guys but they were so busy but this guy who served my chicken rice was kind enough to pose for me 🙂

We crossed the street and sat on the stairs of the building

The Foodie’s 18th birthday was prolonged with so many celebrations 🙂  This was finally the day itself and he picked a place from his list.  I love trying new restaurants and Jaime is adventurous too!

Foie Gras Stuffed Mini kobe burger!!  It was really mini 🙂  but an interesting dish!!! They poured the hot chocolate sauce on top!!

Instead of ordering the regular kalbi and other grilled meats you can get in other restaurants, we got the Pot Kalbi which is a house special – it’s marinated overnight for 24 hours with their special sauce and has miso butter sauce on the side.  I am not sure why it’s not in the menu on the website

Visiting Jerome in New York

By | Homes and Interiors, Travel | 2 Comments

We were so happy we had time to spend with Jerome!  And I made sure we visited his new flat which he is renting in the meantime he is looking for his permanent flat. On one side of the building Jerome told me that they have outdoor movies for the residents

West Side Highway

By | Real Estate, Travel | No Comments

Driving down from New Jersey back to Manhattan, our driver passed the West Side Highway and I am glad I was able to capture some interesting buildings.  It was a nice drive seeing all these structures.  I later on told Jerome about it and I asked his help to tell me what buildings they were

An apartment complex on Riverside Boulevard in the Upper West Side that Donald Trump and a few others developed for Luxury Condo sales and rentals

100 11th Avenue (a luxury apartment building designed by French starchitect, Jean Novel) on the left and the IAC headquarters on the right (designed by another starchitect, Frank Gehry).

The Standard Hotel in the Meatpacking district. It’s notorious because of the big and very transparent windows that have provided many free peep shows to any passerby.

The James Hotel in Soho.  It has a nice rooftop bar

west-side-highway-7.JPG

The Perry Street Towers designed by Starchitect, Richard Meier.  Jean Georges Vongerichten, Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman all have units here.  It also houses Jean Georges’ restaurant- Perry Street
