Milk Market in Jaipur

Our tourguide Raj took us to the Milk market in Jaipur!! What an interesting thing…though maybe after seeing this you ight not drink milk anymore in India 🙂

They all sit on the road with jars of fresh milk

It was so hard to take photos from inside the bus and it was moving – but notice the man in the suit – he is bending down – he is actually dipping his whole arm into the jar to test the milk!!! and he will then taste it!!! Raj says that in the hotels they boil the milk before serving it – I hope so 🙂

Breakfast at the Rambagh Palace Jaipur

Breakfast is always included in the rooms, so we really take advantage 🙂 And because we had breakfast everyday – I hardly had to eat any of the junk food I had brought with me!!

I noticed also that they do not offer the hot food menu – so ask for it because you can order anything on the menu and that is still part of the breakfast

Palace Room at the Rambagh Palace

We were able to visit a suite, not sure what category this is. They told us that not one room in the Palace is the same

Rambagh Palace Jaipur by The Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces

Around three hours driving after lunch, we arrived at our next destination – Jaipur! This is the video being played in the hotel room narrated by the Princess herself

The excitement is non stop!! Everytime we go to a place, it’s just so breathtaking! And this used to be only the hunting lodge of the Maharaja

Fatehpur Sikri

After breakfast, we drove to the Fatehpur Sikri

There was this guy inside the fort

That dove into that green water

Eventually to earn something. He climbed the wall to where we were to ask for money

Dad and Tito Joe reenacting Emperor Akbar playing chess here- Apparently the Emperor would use people as the pawns to move around

On the side of his bed was a secret passage which led to the quarters of the concubines and they would pass here to get to the Emperor

The front is the office that took care of the needs of all the concubines of the emperor

Moghul earrings design on the walls. Jewellers would copy this as designs for their jewelry. Not one is the same

Breakfast by the Taj

Breakfast is included in the room charge and you go down to have the buffet. But on our last day in Agra, I wanted to have breakfast in our balcony which we did not have time to use! So we ordered room service which was also included already in the room. You can have it in the room instead of down at the buffet

Embroidery of Shams and Kohinoor Jewellers Agra

Another must see place if you are already in Agra! The beautiful embroidery museum by Shams

Photography is not allowed – I got this from the brochure – it is much much more beautiful in person. So if you are visiting the Taj, give 30 minutes to come see this – it is spectacular. The embroidery is mixed with jewelry by Kohinoor Jewellers. Very rare pieces which took Shams many years to make. He eventually went blind because of the strain the embroidery put on his eyes

Outside the museum are pieces made by students of Shams – these are the only ones for sale but of course not as beautiful as the master

On the second level is a jewelry store

– owned by the family that supplied Shams his jewelry. Now the 5th Generation has taken over. Ruchira Mathur, who is a gemologist and designs the jewelry

She showed us many rare pieces their family owns

The son, Milind Mathur, who is also a gemologist and takes care of quality control and if the Creative Director of the company

Indian Dinner at Esphahan The Oberoi Amarvilas Agra

About a week in India and we are turning Indian 🙂 We love how the Indians all wear their national costumes and they wear them so nicely. We love the outfits too and we bought some to wear during the trip so we can blend in and really feel the Indian spirit 🙂 I told them we need to look Indian in our photos so it matches the backdrops haha!! I am so happy my husband is “game” to do these things 🙂

Tita Mary Ann was able to get a complete Saree! Nice! With matching bindi!

We had dinner in the Indian restaurant of the hotel! James and I and Paul and Maricar love Indian food

Akbar International Marble Agra

We always set aside time for shopping! Yet it seems its never enough! 🙂 We went to a marble store because we were feeling a high after visiting the Taj Mahal 🙂

There are workers there exhibiting and showing how they make the inlaid of the marble

The pieces are so tiny!!!

This is the mark on the finger due to the heavy engraving being done to the marble

You can use these stones depending on how creative you are – table top is the usual but you can use them on walls, as cheese boards, as stands, etc etc

They show you how transluscent the marble is by putting a flashlight or light bulb under

I actually bought a small version which I will put on top of a box ( I still have to buy a nice box ) and I am going to copy Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal – I want my ashes and my husband’s ashes to be under the Taj!! I am serious 🙂 My sister was laughing at me when i told her about this idea
