Last year, one of my good friends, Bambi Reyes Javelosa, introduced me to an artist.
The artist, Migs Villanueva, was her Aunt, the sister of her Mom, Tita Edith
I was at her home and she showed me one of the works of Migs and I instantly loved it. The subject of Migs’ paintings are children. Migs told me that she started out doing abstract paintings, but she felt something was lacking. Then she started drawing children and immediately she knew this was what she wanted to do. She is the only Filipino artist that uses the subject of children in her work. This is what sets her apart from the others and brings out her unique form of expression through art.
She left the corporate life and started a career in literary arts where she won three Palanca Awards in 2002 and 2006 and two NVM Gonzales Awards in 2001 and 2002. And even if she was busy as a visual artists, she continued her fiction and was also a screenwriter. This career was further nurtured when she became a member of the Saturay Group of well respected artist Mauro Malang Santos. She is now the current President of the club.
She recently exhibited at the FilipinaZ Art and Fashion fair
Last October 15 to 19, she launched her fifth one man show at the ManilArt entitled Sweet Cheeks and Velvet Apple, exhibited under Galerie Francesca.
Migs is a mother of four and a grandmother. She told me that her only granddaughter, Rafa, was her inspiration
One of my favourite artwork in the show was that of a little boy wearing a barong. I also liked the little girls in three dimensional dresses. All the faces of the children are the same with three dots representing the eyes and the mouth. That is her signature face and it leaves the viewer to interpret the emotional state of the child in the painting.
She invites each viewer to put their own childhood experiences in her works. We become the characters in her works. And that is what it totally does to me when I look at her painting. It brings me back to my childhood. It makes me remember who were my friends and who I used to play with when I was a child. All happy memories during an innocent childhood. How soothing and calming it is to look at such artwork which is so light, so bright, so happy and so innocent.
The works are not only for a child’s bedroom but can be part of any room in the house. Migs can even commission work for you and draw your children.
Migs Villanueva exhibits under Galerie Francesca. For more information, please call them at (632 ) 570 9495, ( 632 ) 659 2667 or email galeriefrancescaSchedule for Monday

Sheryl on the other hand has joined the company to help out in Marketing
Thanks to Gary and Alexie for introducing us to Ricky and Sheryl. We had a nice evening
We met up with Ricky and Sheryl in their latest place called Wolf & Fox in Bonifacio Global City
Ricky is the guy behind the concepts and the graphics of all the restaurants.
In Wolf & Fox, the characters are all animals wearing business attire 🙂
Ricky told me that the Wolf is characterised by the Richard Branson type of guy who is a businessman and goes for the basics. WS is the Fox who is a bit more adventurous and likes steak and burgers
So there are two menus in this place. One page is the Fox menu
And the other is the Wolf Menu 🙂
There is another menu which has photos and you will see that one side is the Fox menu and when you read it from the back and turn it around, it’s the Wolf Menu 🙂 How creative!
Super loved the Wolf Burger – U.S. Angus Burger
There is an ongoing collaboration with Hendrick’s where they made Special drinks specially for the Wolf & Fox
Zachary Connor de Git, Mixologist and Hendrick’s Gin Regional Brand Ambassador was there that evening and he was here for a few days to launch and train the people

One of their latest restaurants is Banzai where they have Teppanyaki buffet!! I have never seen a Teppayanki buffet and we will definitely go here to try it!

Last October, the family went to try Twenty Two Jupiter!
It was previously Cova
Love most especially the Bonsai trees inside which is part of the collection of one of the owners
Super yum Chorizo nachos!!!
The Hainanese Chicken was good too
And super loved the Rum Cake with butter Dulce Gatas sauce!
Last week, I went back and was happy to see two of the owners there, my brother, Jun Jun Lopez, and my friend, Vince Tanjutco. They are two out of the twelve owners of the place. They found out Cova was for sale so they bought it 🙂
“We are a Bistro Bar. We serve good, affordable food so people can come here for lunch and dinner. Then at around 9:30pm, we dim the lights and become a bar with live entertainment. But it’s a bar with good food! The atmosphere is very relaxed, very cozy and friendly. It’s mostly friends of friends here. And we talk to everyone who comes in so everybody becomes our friend. It’s the kind of place that you can go to even if you’re alone.”
Together with them was the Executive Chef, Marco Legasto. Chef Marco studied in the UK for 2 years in the Isle of Man and then worked at the Ocean Castle Hotel for two years and then came back to Manila. In 2005, he was the one who pioneered the Spiral restaurant and was the head of all the Expats during the transition of Westin Sofitel. He put up Purple Feet and ran it from 2007 to 2012. After which he put up his own restaurant called Prime 101 which specialises in steaks!
“The space is known as a bar but we’re introducing it as also a bistro. Guests are actually surprised because there are very few bars that actually have good food, they’re normally just used to bar chow. We serve International food, we have dishes from all over the world. We do traditional and we also do our own flavors. It’s getting certain flavors from different places or from experiences that I had and putting them in the dishes.”
Though this is known as a bar, they are now a Bistro bar and serve lunch and dinner!

Vincent tells me the steaks are really good!! We need to go back to try them!!!
I am repeating this menu page with the main course because it has the desserts menu here and you must try the desserts 🙂

I had a nice afternoon at Greenbelt 5! I got scared when I saw these blank canvasses because I had a feeling they were going to make us draw! 🙂
Yup my guess was correct 🙂 And because I do not know how to draw and can only draw hearts ( haha!! ) this was what I came up with
Good thing Simone Legno came over and saved my sketch!! Heart2Heart loves featuring people with great talent 🙂 I am happy to be here to see the artist behind the new design of Le Sportsac! 🙂
I LOVE IT!!!!
I just added colour and more shapes! And this was what I came up with!! I love it because he signed it!! This will now be an addition to my collection of art!!
The iconic American lifestyle bag retailer LeSportsac announces that it is continuing its highly anticipated collaboration with pop culture brand, tokidoki, with a new print just in time for Holiday. The tokidoki for LeSportsac collection, launched this Fall, picked up right where the still sought after 2006 partnership left off, and continues to delight fans of both brands throughout the world.
“Reuniting with tokidoki as the finale to our 40th Anniversary, we knew it couldn’t be for just one season, we felt like we owed it to all of our loyal fans to continue the fun,” says D’Arcy Jensen, LeSportsac Global Vice President & Creative Director.
Perfect for the gifting season, Giramondo, a new winter all-over print, features iconic tokidoki characters on stamps from around the world, a fitting aesthetic for this travel worthy collection. Found throughout the Giramondo print is Palette, the alluring leopard created by Simone Legno, who first debuted throughout the tokidoki for LeSportsac Fall collection and also accompanies every bag by transforming into a too-cute-for-words charm. On printed bags the Palette charm is black, and on black bags the Palette charm features the tokidopoli print. Lined in solid turquoise or hot pink, all bags showcase a co-branded, foiled text logo patch, employ gold hardware and zippers, and extra large piping to emphasize shape, yet maintain LeSportsac’s simplistic style concept.
“tokidoki is so excited to continue this special collaboration with LeSportsac,” states Legno. “We can’t wait to share the new Giramondo print with our fans, old and new; we think they’ll be very pleased with the print’s international tribute!”

Exclusive to the winter collection, the Carina Tote in the Buon Viaggio print is a new style that is a wink and a nod to the previous tokidoki for LeSportsac collections. Manufactured with iconic LeSportsac materials such as ripstop nylon and durable webbing, this singular style features trompe-l’oeil details and is a perfect travel companion for tokidoki for LeSportsac fans worldwide.
