Sangkar, Bvlgari Resort Bali

By | Accomodations, Foodie, Travel | One Comment

There are two restaurants in the resort and Sangkar is the Indonesian restaurant.  I do not know what people are saying that the food in Bali is not good, but we had very good meals at Sangkar.  From the bar, it leads to the restaurant passing this beautiful bridge on water

sangkar-02.jpgblack-line.jpg sangkar-01.jpgblack-line.jpg

Sangkar means birdcage which explains the birdcages on the ceiling! Beautiful!

Just like the other parts of the resort, light is minimal so I hope you can read the menu 🙂

I love the way they serve the satay – it is on a mini grill on the plate and it was hot so the satay was warm until you actually eat it.  And of course there are all kinds of Satay

Goodies from Bali

By | Finds, Travel, Yummy! | No Comments

In our rooms when we arrived, we all received the native bag, hat and fan and beside it was this 🙂  From the bridal couple.  This was why we were in Bali, to celebrate a special occasion.

img_0946.jpg

Pam told me that she tried this in the resort when they first visited and she asked them to pack it for the guests so we could enjoy it too…and boy they are addicting!!

img_0947.JPG

Since Pam paid an arm and a leg for those ( haha ) , during my shopping tour, I went to the grocery to look for it and I found it!!! I bought one, tried it to see if it was the same and it was so I got everything on the shelf and brought it back home to share!  It is not exactly the same as the one at Bvlgari Resort but it is close.  Here they are and you can buy it at my favorite store where you buy all the other delicious things 🙂  This is all that is available what you see in the photo so hurry and get some!  They are addicting!!

goodies-from-bali-04.jpeg

I also saw this beautiful things dangling from the trees in the resort and I found them too!!!  Sorry the photo is not too clear

hanging-decor-bulgari-resort.jpg

So i brought home some.  You can hang them on trees, use them as decoration, as a curtain 🙂

Villas at The Bvlgari Resort Bali

By | Accomodations, Travel | One Comment

There are 59 villas at the resort and this is the map which I saw in the room.  I was not able to research to make proper recommendations but I will describe based on the villas I saw during our stay.

Villa 10 to 15 are Ocean View Villas which are two bedroom villas.  If you are going as a family, this will be the best because it has 3 villas inside, one bedroom and in the middle the living room and then another bedroom.  You have the view of the Ocean directly above from your balcony.  According to my sister who stayed there with her family, when you are sleeping at night, you can hear the waves and the water from the Ocean.  So if that will not bother you and you like that, then this villa will work for you

bulgari-villas-map.jpgblack-line.jpgblack-line.jpg

This was our villa, Villa 32.  We were in the third level up after the Ocean Villas.  It was a one bedroom villa.  All the other villas are like this (aside of course from the Bvlgari Villa )

bulgari-villas-03.jpg

You have your own outdoor living room.  At night they put down the shades on the side

bulgari-villas-04.jpgblack-line.jpgblack-line.jpg

I really like these Indonesian lamps

Your own mini bar in the living room

black-line.jpgblack-line.jpgbulgari-villas-025.jpg

Your key which comes with a Bvlgari keychain.  Make sure you don’t lose it because I heard you have to pay I think US$ 150.00 ( not sure ).  Well, with a beautiful Bvlgari keychain like that

WOW!!! LOVE THIS!! Javier stayed with us in the room which explains the extra bed

The TV showing you all the beautiful jewelry from Bvlgari! 🙂

black-line.jpgblack-line.jpgbulgari-villas-050.jpgblack-line.jpgblack-line.jpgbulgari-villas-016.jpg

Each of us had this in our room.  They gave toys and nice indonesian handicrafts each night but we did not know it was a gift, so we left it 🙁 So make sure you get them, they were nice wooden instruments and other wooden handicrafts

Behind the bed and closet is the bathroom!! BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!

black-line.jpgblack-line.jpgbulgari-villas-019.jpg

My photo does not justify the bathroom so I got a photo from the internet

black-line.jpgblack-line.jpgbulgaria-hotels-and-resorts1-from-david-travelcom.jpg

And finally a bathtub that has a pillow!  I always have to put a towel to rest my head, this was the only place that had a pillow amongst all the places I have been to

bulgari-villas-051.jpg

Candles to set the mood!! I love it! And they had these long matchsticks which I really liked because it is easier to light especially if the candleholder is deep or if you are lighting many candles

black-line.jpgblack-line.jpgbulgari-villas-021.jpgblack-line.jpgblack-line.jpgbulgari-villas-020.jpgblack-line.jpgblack-line.jpgbulgari-villas-022.jpgblack-line.jpgblack-line.jpgbulgari-villas-036.jpgbulgari-villas-038.jpgblack-line.jpgblack-line.jpgbulgari-villas-037.jpgblack-line.jpgblack-line.jpgbulgari-villas-039.jpgblack-line.jpgblack-line.jpgbulgari-villas-023.jpgbulgari-villas-054.jpg

The rooms are dark which I think is done on purpose as this is the mood in the resort.  My Lolo had lights added since he really found it dark 🙂  I like it that the curtains are all around  black-line.jpgblack-line.jpgbulgari-villas-052.jpgblack-line.jpgblack-line.jpgbulgari-villas-061.jpgbulgari-villas-062.jpg

This is the Ocean Villa ( Two Bedroom )

Master bedroom – almost the same as the regular villa, but for some reason they did not have the same big bathroom we had.  I do not know if all Ocean Villas are like this

bulgari-villas-046.jpgbulgari-villas-047.jpg

Day shot of the private pool and on the side they have an outdoor shower for the pool

black-line.jpgblack-line.jpgbulgari-villas-057.jpg

This is the balcony of the Ocean Villa overlooking the Ocean- since there are three villas inside – there are three balconies all connected

black-line.jpgblack-line.jpgbulgari-villas-059.jpgblack-line.jpgblack-line.jpgbulgari-villas-058.jpgblack-line.jpgblack-line.jpg

Wow, I did not get to see this, but they have the Bvlgari Villa which is their Presidential Suite

Bvlgari Hotels and Resorts Bali

By | Accomodations, Travel | 2 Comments

Two weeks ago, we were very fortunate to have visited Bali and we stayed at the very beautiful Bvlgari Resort!!!  It’s a perfect getaway for a honeymoon, for a short vacation and just relax and get away from it all.  It was nice to be together with the family and spend time and bond

black-line.jpgblack-line.jpgbulgari-resort-bali-01.jpgblack-line.jpgblack-line.jpg

Tight security upon entering the resort

bulgari-resort-bali-046.jpgblack-line.jpgblack-line.jpg

Though it is a bit inconvenient to get to Bali from Manila, when you get there, it’s all worth it

black-line.jpgblack-line.jpgbulgari-resort-bali-09.jpgblack-line.jpgblack-line.jpgbulgari-resort-bali-02.jpg

View of the villas from the main lobby of the resort.  There are 59 villas all in all

Because the resort is quite big and has uphills and downhills, best way to travel around is with the golf cart 🙂  Just request for them from wherever you are and they will come to pick you up.  You can also walk around when not in a hurry

black-line.jpgblack-line.jpgbulgari-resort-bali-032.jpgblack-line.jpgblack-line.jpgbulgari-resort-bali-010.jpgblack-line.jpgblack-line.jpgbulgari-resort-bali-011.jpg

imagination-invitation-by-plet.jpg

The idea of rain always brings me back to the story of great rain found in the story of Noah and his Ark.

From Genesis, Chapters 6-9: Seeing the wickedness of man, God commanded Noah to build an ark, a large vessel that would contain himself, his family and the animals of the world in order to save them from the Great Flood that would destroy as well as cleanse the world.

My installation for the Bonifacio Global City Offsite Gallery will be an interpretation of Noah’s story. Except instead of an ark, I will use bathtubs. Not unlike the ark, bathtubs are also vessels. However, instead of keeping people and animals afloat on water, they do the opposite. They carry water. Bathtubs are repositories of water. They serve as basins for cleansing and when unclogged, allow water to escape. The bathtubs will become mini-arks, serving several functions: as a reminder of how dual water can be — an element of both life and death; but also as transportation — as a means by which they can transport viewers into a world of imagination. Noah embodies this in his act of creation for in order to do God’s commandment, it was essential that he not only be a masterful builder, but that he be a creative genius, filled with imagination as he took charge of the world’s second creation.

In my own creation, riffing off from Noah, I see several bathtubs scattered throughout the park. The bathtubs will be beautiful objects. They will be whimsical in design, and animals made of steel will adorn the ends of the tubs and serve as arm rests. But the tubs will also be functional. Slightly raised by coils of steel wrapped in rubber hose for visual impact, they will be converted into sofas for viewers to sit and enjoy. The bathtubs’ strength will be reinforced by cement and colorful mosaic tiles for durability.

As a nation, we suffer often from the rain. Deluge an apt word for how rain pounds upon us. But I’d like to think we have hope. In the conclusion of Noah’s story, when the floods subsided, God’s anger abated, and he made a covenant. I’d like my installation to be a reminder that we can be rest assured that God will keep us safe. We need not be afraid. God has promised that he will never send a flood so great that it would destroy our world again. He gave us a rainbow to symbolize this promise. This will be translated in colored lights that would dot the installation in all its glory on cool breezy evenings, warm summer nights and even on mind-blowing rainy days.

For the residents of Taguig and the ultra-modern Global City, it is my intention for my installation to offer solace. Visitors will be able to sit comfortably in the bathtubs, knowing that they have been rescued. They can relax as the stresses and strains of their daily lives subside.

Our specialty is all our meats and we have a big list we’re proud of. We select only quality cuts of meat. Each is prepared with our house-made rubs, marinades, or sauces. They are slow-roasted, char-grilled, or ale-braised before they end up on your plate. It’s not just ribs we barbecue but many different kinds of meat. We make our own corned beef (brined for five days with dark ale and pickling spices), bacon slabs (bacon cured for seven days, with three types of salt with house rub) and ribs (rubbed and grilled), and pulled pork (rubbed and roasted). All our house-done meats are used for sandwiches, too! But to start, sample our bone marrow and steak tacos, a starter guaranteed to pique your interest for sure.

The menu is of the comfort food variety, with a throwback to heritage cooking. The menu is a celebration of many places that are known for their barbecue – from the USA (which inspired our ribs and cornbread), Philippines (we use achiote in our house-made bbq sauce) and South America (the homeland of our chimichurri). Our bestseller is the beef belly (dark ale-braised then slightly charred) served with roasted onions. Kick back with a cocktail or two—our signature drinks include chipotle bloody mary, spiked lemonade and blood orange margarita.

Come for lunch or dinner. Mix and match dishes for group dining. Have A ‘Li’l Feast (a tasting of beef belly slices, lamb ribs, half a slab of baby back ribs and a half roasted chicken) so everyone gets a taste. Sides include sweet potato fries, buttermilk whipped potatoes, cauliflower creamed casserole, garlic butter french beans… or the bestselling chili monggo. Our house-made sauces include a finger-lickin’ sweet and sour bbq sauce, the salsa verde is sweet and spicy, the chimichurri which is sour and vinegary. There’s also dark ale mustard, Horseradish, ranch dressing and hits-the-spot garlic mayo.

Discover our take on many of your favorite dishes. We also have comfort foods like the House burger (a double 3.oz house blend all beef patty), home-style mac ‘n’ cheese, and spicy fried wings. Try the crunchy baby squid, rustic tomato and vegetable soup, and BBQ’d brisket ragu. Our make-your-own fish tacos, like fish and chips but instead of fries we serve them with tortillas so you can make them into tacos. Our Louisiana-style beef stew is like a rich and thicker adobo, but with beef and oxtail, with our cajun seasoning.
