sun-sponge.jpg

SUNSPONGE is the only way to soak up the sun this Summer– using the latest in tanning technology, the formula adjusts to each individual’s skin tone, activating a deep, natural-looking tan that will last for days. The tinted, lightweight formula delivers an instant, sheer bronze glow, for a streak-free application, while the self-tanner develops & intensifies, leaving you with your richest, longest-lasting tan yet.

dsc_9401.jpg

Enriched with Fructiplex™, to nourish, soothe & protect your skin with the moisturising benefits of Wild Rose Hip, Apricot & Palm Tree Extract, helping your tan last even longer. The fast-drying and non-greasy formula is also hinted with an exotic Cocoa Butter fragrance, leaving no tell-tale scent of fake tanning.

SUNSPONGE’s unique ergonomic design ensures a controlled application for those hard-to-reach areas, whilst the sponge buffs and evens your tan to perfection for a truly professional result.

So, whether you dare to bare a bronzed back in a slinky little Cavalli number, wish to make an entrance with your killer pins, or are out to seduce with a sun-kissed décolletage – desirable, enviable, sexy skin is all yours with SUNSPONGE …your Secret Weapon for Summer.

Fructiplex™ Active Ingredients:

The advanced SUNSPONGE formula contains Fructiplex™ – a cocktail of delicious ingredients which helps to combat the drying effects of the DHA tanning agent, including:

WILD ROSE HIP (Rosa canina)

Rose Hip has an extremely high Vitamin C content as well as many other vitamins including Vitamins A, B and E.  In fact, Rose Hip contains approximately 20 times more Vitamin C than citrus fruits. These vitamins, in particular Vitamin C have an anti-oxidising effect on the skin, preventing free radical damage and also acting as an anti-inflammatory.

APRICOT EXTRACT (Prunus armeniaca)

Fragrant and refreshing, the apricot is one of the fruits with the highest contents of pro-Vitamin A (or carotene) and potassium.  Vitamin A works to help improves skin texture and smoothness and is believed to be essential for the generation and function of skin cells.

PALM TREE EXTRACT (Serenoa serrulata / Saw palmetto)

Palm Tree Extract was traditionally used in South America and the Mediterranean to treat weakness after illness. The fruit if of this particular type of palm tree is enriched with fatty acids and phytosterols and is known for its soothing and anti-inflammatory properties.

SUNSPONGE DIRECTIONS:

STEP 1 For best results, cleanse and exfoliate your skin with Modelco TAN REMOVER EXFOLIATING SCRUB prior to use for a smooth, even application.  Do not moisturize before applying SUNSPONGE. Apply within 1 hour of showering to clean skin. Tanning should always be done infront of a mirror to ensure an even application.

STEP 2 You must shake well before each use and then remove travel cap.  To get started your need to “activate” the SUNSPONGE.  To do this, turn bottle upside down and press the lower part of the sponge quickly against the skin 2-3 times.  This will release the bronze coloured liquid into lower part of the sponge so your application can start.  A quick press is all you need as a little goes a long way.   NOTE:  if you put too much pressure on the sponge or hold it down for too long the tanning solution will continue to flow.

STEP 3 Use long even strokes with the upper part of the sponge to blend. Use the inbuilt bronzer as a guide to ensure a streak-free application. As you work the self-tan solution into your skin, the sponge will begin to dry, therefore doubling as a buffing cloth. To avoid an uneven tan, apply to one area at a time.

STEP 4 Once liquid is perfectly blended into one area of the body, move onto the next area, gently pressing the lower part of the sponge once to release more liquid and repeating the above process. Formula can be layered to reach desired intensity. Remember, practice makes perfect!

STEP 5 Use sparingly on knees, ankles and elbows, only lightly feathering when the sponge applicator is near dry. For optimum even results it is best to get someone else to get SUNSPONGE on your back. If this is not possible, then apply to your back in front of a mirror. When tanning your back you will need to activate on your leg or arm first to release a small amount of liquid into the sponge before you start.

STEP 6 It is recommended to allow sponge to dry before replacing cap. Wait at least 10 minutes before dressing and at least 6 hours before washing. For best results, allow SUNSPONGE to develop for 8 hours.

NOTE:  If travelling with this product please ensure it is packed carefully and should be kept in a zip-lock bag.  One shade suits all skin tones, with at least 3-4 body applications per product. SUNSPONGE is disposable and not refillable, making it super-hygienic and incredible value for money.

Cu-chi Vietnamese Home-Style Cooking

By | Foodie | No Comments

I received a text from my friend, Ginge about this place, so we went to try it out.   It was my first time to go to Makati Golf ( a few meters away from ( THE ZONE )

n153168191408_8856.jpg

They normally close early on Saturday at around 6pm.  But they stayed opened when I called to make a reservation.  I did not know it was inside a Club.  I spoke to the owner and Chef, Chef Rica.  We have the same name 🙂  She told me she did not know how to say no when I called to reserve so she accepted.  She was very nice and she was the one serving us and making sure everything was okay

cuchi-vietnamese1.jpg

We were the only ones in the restaurant so it was really like we were in our own home for a home cooked meal 🙂

cuchi-vietnamese2.jpg

It’s a good thing they still had some ingredients and most dishes were available.  This is what we had

 cuchivietnamese3.jpg

One of the dishes we all liked

and I liked the eggplant side dish which came with the grilled pork chops so I ordered it 🙂  YUMMY!

 dsc_9144a.JPG

I wanted to order this but not available at that time:

Fresh Coconut Shake and Grilled Bananas for dessert

If you are in the area, why not try ( or take out ) some home cooked vietnamese food 🙂

Somehow home cooked food feels like it is made with love and Chef Rica seemed to love what she is doing…and sharing her food through her new venture

Nicole Miller Spring/Summer 2010 A Modern Take on Prints

By | Fashion, What's New at Rustan's | No Comments

The girl has a tougher edge. This is the theme of the current collection of Nicole Miller.

nicolemiller2a.jpg

Nicole Miller is a fashion designer with a modern, ageless aesthetic.  Her silhouettes are artfully draped to achieve a unique body consciousness.  Her signature is feminine, sexy and refined.  Miller draws inspiration from a wide range of influences including cinema, contemporary art, mid-20th century architecture and exotic cultures.  She is known for elements of whimsy and surprise, and is the preeminent New York- based designer among global fashion’s print and color elite.

nicolemiller1.jpg

Pushing forward body consciousness through her pieces, the nonconformist glamour of Miller’s clothes is a favorite of many in hollywood.  Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry, Lauren Hutton, Felicity Huffman and Eva Longoria Parker have recently appeared in her designs.  Her work is often shown on the covers and in the pages of leading fashion and lifestyle magazines world wide – and in cyber space, Nicole Miller is one of the most visible designer brand names anywhere. Nicole Miller reinvents fabric manipulation, while taking a modern take on prints.

nicolemiller3.jpg

Experimenting with new technology and abstracting traditional craft, Nicole Miller pieces are indeed a work of art.

Nicole Miller is Exclusively available in Rustan’s Makati and Rustan’s Shangrila

The Ultimate Burger by iFoodTrip

By | Foodie, Recipes | 6 Comments

Last August 7, 2009, Heart2Heart featured the foie gras burger at Lusso ( Lusso August 7, 2009 ) .  iFoodTrip posted a comment at Heart2Heart.

 ifoodtripcomment.jpg

I was so curious, I went to the link and this was what was written…It was an anonymous blog which I found really interesting.  The way he described his burger was with so much passion – I immediately wanted to try it!!!  Click on the article below to go to the website/blog:

adrianburger1.jpg

After reading the blog, the next day I went to buy some bone marrow!!! I wanted to try to make the ULTIMATE BURGER!  But then they were out of stock!! Aside from  the no stock bone marrow situation, I was also worried that I would not be able to make the burger correctly.  So as I was desperate, I wrote iFoodTrip and asked what restaurant or where I could try his burger ( as mentioned in his blog ).  Apparently, iFoodTrip is the chef of one of Heart2Heart’s favorite places,  Elbert’s SteakRoom! Chef Adrian!  So nice, humble and quiet 🙂

p1170320.jpg

We scheduled for me to try the ULTIMATE BURGER last year but for some important reason, we had to postpone it.  But finally, 3 days ago, I dragged along my good and blooming friend 🙂 Michele, to try this burger!!!

p1170298a.jpg

Of  course, at Steak Room, Lunch comes with salad or soup

p1170300.JPGp1170302.JPG

By the time we had set the lunch reservation, Chef Adrian had already invented another burger which is what he served us. So instead of having just the Ultimate Burger, we had  The Ultimate Burger Truffled stuffed with Bone Marrow!! WOW!!!! Heart2Heart loves truffles, truffle oil, truffle salt – truffle anything 🙂 And it came with a BLUE CHEESE sauce on the side!

p1170308.JPG

Here is the inside of the burger with bone marrow bits coming out. YUMMY!! Even Michele liked it and I was so happy because she is very hard to please when it comes to food as she is a chef as well.

p1170311.JPG

We had to have our hot water after that very rich and yummy burger!! 🙂

p1170314.JPGp1170316.JPG

Thanks Adrian a for that wonderful foodie experience.

If you want to try THE ULTIMATE BURGER TRUFFLED STUFFED with BONE MARROW, you can contact Adrian at ifoodtrip@gmail.com or call Steak Room atleast two days in advance.

Or you can attempt to make it yourself. Chef Adrian is very kind and generous to share his recipe.

Elbert’s Lunch ( Elbert’s Lunch at Steak Room April 2, 2008 ) menu has changed already and you can also now have steak for lunch!! The place was full for lunch so we we’re lucky we had made a reservation.

Meaning To Be Modern

By | Arts and Culture, Great Achievements, Proud to be Pinoy! | 5 Comments

Thanks to our friend, Hetty, for inviting us to come over and see the exhibit of her husband, Paulino!  We remember very well many years ago when we visited his home to see his beautiful collection or art and antiques!  And now this beautiful exhibit!  You cannot imagine the value of the paintings – both its financial worth and the worth of its history and beauty!!!! This in itself is an accomplishment and a legacy of Paulino to Philippine Art and for our country.

You will have to be there to believe it and see the actual paintings.  I am featuring all 80 works ( which is probably not even half his collection ) of art but it is still different to actually view them yourself.  I would say this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to view this collection and as Vita, the owner of Finale Gallery, told me, she said that she is happy that it is Paulino who owns these works of art because he is very generous in lending his paintings for others to see and appreciate in a public setting.  So do come over as it is still showing til the end of the month.

And this Saturday, March 20,  Learn more about the early Filipino Moderns with Juvenal Sanso, Mark Justiniani and Patrick Flores at 4:00 pm at the gallery.

Finale Art File is proud to show this March “Meaning To Be Modern”, a selection of Philippine paintings from 1907 to 1959.

as well as the developments hereafter: the Thirteen Moderns, incipient and late neorealism, and abstraction on the cusp of the sixties. This collection is exceptional and exemplary, surveying the watersheds of Philippine modern art, from the early part of the twentieth century to the sixties. The fifties may be considered the high point of the process of modernity in Philippine art, preceded by years of debates with the Amorsolo conservative school of romantic realism, experimentation with a range of styles from the school of Paris, and the formation of a distinct visual idiom of modern art that was cosmopolitan and uniquely Filipino.

These are the broad strokes of the sequence of modernism that the Que corpus embodies that complement those earlier mentioned: second-wave stalwarts Anita Magsaysay-Ho,

When probed more keenly, it would reveal idiosyncrasies, too: the surrealism of the early Juvenal Sanso,

The afterglow of the neorealist flare may also be discerned in the folksy aspirations of Mauro Malang Santos.

Finally, we may want to ask about the delineation of time: Why posit the fifties as the height and limit of modernism? It may be argued that this decade signifies the defining moment of the tendency: the First Neo-Realist Art Exhibition in 1950, the First Exhibition of Non-Objective Art in 1953, the walk-out of the conservatives at Art Association of the Philippines (AAP) salon in 1955, the replacement of the conservative/modern categories at the APP with “contemporary Philippine painting” a year later, and the First Southeast Asian exhibition held in Manila in 1957. It may also be proposed that the fifties was witness to the incipient expression and later the fullness of the modern tradition, before it was to wither in the face of its own institutionalization and, in some instances, its descent into kitsch.

Aside from the art works, this collection also brings to light the significance of the Paulino Que collection, which is one of the most indispensable in private auspices and could rival the combined treasures of public institutions of modern art collection such as the National Museum, the Cultural Center of the Philippines, the Ateneo Art Gallery, and the Vargas Museum. Featuring 36 artists and 80 works, it promises to be an event in itself, a rare occasion in which a private collection becomes public discourse as students, scholars, and supporters of Philippine art gain access to it and hopefully engage it with the same discernment that went into its shaping.

Back to Basics with Ralph Lauren Spring 2010

By | Fashion, What's New at Rustan's | No Comments

The runway of the Ralph Lauren Spring Summer 2010 Collection in New York Fashion Week focused on fashion staples that have always stood the test of time. The designer turned the current crisis into positive through taking inspiration from the Great Recession that showed the spirit of American resiliency and hard work. As Ralph Lauren puts it, “I am inspired by the character of the worker, the farmer, the cowboy, and the pioneer women of the prairies.” So in place of the polo fields or any of his other pony stomping grounds, Lauren took us back to the dust bowl for Spring.

Dominated by classics from jeans and linen to clean lines with splash of floral patterns, and finally subtle yet glamorous ensembles, the Ralph Lauren collection encapsulated what American work wear and fashion truly is. Models in newsboy caps wore faded and torn oversize jeans with blue work shirts; patchwork overalls; nightshirts in mattress-ticking stripes; or sweet calico print dresses with white ankle socks and oxfords with heels.

With four key looks that will captivate every lady’s wardrobe, the designer once again proved why he is the icon for American dressing. The collection began with Authentic Elegance wherein faded denim work wear and soft floral dresses conveyed a romantic ideal. Moving forward with the New Sophisticate, this line is more compelling with a sense of strength and sophistication in menswear inspired suiting and striking navy evening wear. Confidence and elegant purity were the main ideas for the Timeless Grace line with delicate feminine looks rendered in organdy and white linen. Finally, Contemporary Glamour ushered faded blue silks and resplendent icy metallics that reveal the heritage of denim while evoking a new style of luxurious yet simple evening glamour.

Like most of Lauren’s collections, it was cinematic. From one creation to the other, the show played like a rags-to-riches tale, a story line dear to the designer’s heart. Starting with white cotton organdy dresses and some thirties-esque suits, to the work jackets and carpenter pants in blue ombré silk charmeuse, while the nightshirts came striped with beads and the overalls were transformed into a floor-grazing lamé dress. A pair of evening jeans, completely covered in silvery beads save for the fraying holes, took the concept to the limit.

In the Philippines, Polo Ralph Lauren Blue Label is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc. (SSI) and is located at Shangri-La Plaza Mall, 158 Designer’s Blvd., Alabang Town Center, and soon to open on March in Rustan’s Makati.
